Chapter 4 - The 100 questions about myself

After that whole farce, I was brought inside for medical attention. They were justifiably surprised that the "damage" was almost non-existent. Just a nasty cut on the forehead. Their real concern was whether or not I would recover from my "amnesia". The short answer was no. That's a shame for them. Anyway, I was able to pretend that I needed information from my parents that I had forgotten.

I was told my name was Davis Ferenguard, the commoner son of Seren and Terence Ferenguard. The little girl I originally encountered was my younger sister, Alcurine Ferenguard. I learned that my age was 16, and that my sister's age was 15.

My parents told me that I was a prodigy with the sword, and that my skills were highly developed for my age. So I guess I know what my proficiency is. They also told me that I was one of the very select few who had developed some of the rare 'abilities'. For some reason they seemed to have had trouble describing what they all did, so they just told me what they could.

My first ability was known simply as "Special Sight". It allowed me to see the abilities of others, although the cost of using it was that my nose would immediately start to bleed. Actually, all these "special abilities" seemed to come with some sort of penalty when used. Nobody in my family could actually prove I had this ability, since there's no one around with abilities to test it on. Apparently they had me tested at young and that is what I got.

My second ability is called "Shadow Sword". I can apparently summon a dark, evil looking sword to my hand when I need to, and then make it disappear when I don't need it. My family cautioned me against this ability, saying it always seemed to make me way more tired and angry after use. So, I think i'll call this my emergency weapon.

My third ability was a weird one. It's called "Blood Debt". Whenever I use some regular old sword and manage to cut my opponent, I end up becoming slightly faster. This sounded pretty useless until I realized the more cuts I did, the faster I would be. Eventually, I could become almost impossible to fight due to my speed. The downside was that after the effects wore off, (a period of time after the last cut), My physical body would crash, and I would basically go stiff and locked in a rigid pose, defenseless. Depending on how many cuts I did, the rigid period would last longer, 1 cut = 1 minute, ect. For some reason, this was really starting to sound like a villain starter kit.

My final ability is called "Stardust". When I asked my family about it, they told me they don't actually know what it does or why it's even named that way. Apparently the person who evaluated that ability had never seen it before, so was unable to clue me in on what it does.

After cobbling all the facts together, I came to the conclusion that my whole set was all based around the sword. If I was unable to use a sword at any point, my other abilities would be downright useless. That is remedied by the Shadow Sword ability, at a cost. So, coming to that conclusion, I realized that Stardust must also have a connection to the sword in some way.

After assessing what my abilities were capable of, I figured that unless I was put up against perfect opponents, my abilities were pretty standard. No OP main character here sadly. I did wonder how my abilities would turn out if multiplied, seeing as how they seemed so straight forward. Would I become even faster every cut? Would I be able to summon two shadow swords? Whatever the case may be, I didn't want to find out. I just want to live peacefully in this world. No hero or villain here, just a guy.
