"This isn't good."
"How can you tell?" She asked, her back to him. As she tried multiple number combinations on the keypad.
"Well, you see how they're slowly surrounding us? And they all have guns and knives." He said, getting closer to the wall she was standing in front of. "Don't worry about them, I have a dagger and a gun as well." She said, still not turning around to see what the fuss was all about. "What about me then?", "You'll be fine, as usual.", "I doubt that." He said, finally hitting the wall she was working with. "Sigh. And why's that?" She said, turning to the side to look at him. "They also have swords, and one guy has a machete and another has a machine gun.", "What?" she asked, finally turning around. She started typing combinations much quicker than she had been before. After a second or two, the keypad eventually accepted a code and opened a door. "I got it" "Okay, hurry in. I'll circle around" He said, motioning toward a hall behind her. "Will you be okay?" She said right outside the door she had just opened. "Yeah, now go." He said as he started running to the hall from before. "See ya later, suckers!" She yelled out, entering the basement and closing the door as she saw everyone run the other way. "Amateurs,"
'Basement? More like a warehouse.' She thought, turning around to see the basement in front of her.
There was a strange noise coming from the non-lit area of the room. As she got closer to the area where she heard the sound coming from, she could also hear the faint sound of breathing right behind her. As soon as she heard someone say, "Why hello, so very glad you joined us!" When she turned around she could see him, the man they were all looking for. "Looking for him?" he said, throwing a body in front of her. For a moment she looked down at it, then back at him. "What, no reaction?" he asked, slowly circling her. Her brother's body was on the ground, in front of her, stabbed and covered in blood. Once again, by the same man. Fortunately, he was still breathing. "Get to the chase, will you?"
"Fine, where's that so-" Before he could get another word in, he was hit on the head with a brick from behind. "Offices have random bricks laying around?", "I guess, is he okay?" He said, looking at the body in front of her. "Considering he's been fine before, I'm sure he'll be '' She said, backing away from the body and closer to him. "Hey, genius. You dropped your dagger." He said. Handing her a rose gold Beauty-And-The-Beast style dagger, with a rose on the top. "Oh thanks, this ones my fav- Wait, why's there blood on it?" She asked, retrieving the cover. "Now it's gonna stain.", "Oh right, sorry. I may have used it", "Oh nice, against who?" She asked, turning to him. "Machete guy," He answered. "Good job," She said. "But really, next time, try cleaning it off or something. I don't want it stained. " "Yeah, yeah," He said, looking back at the man he knocked unconscious. "Well, let's get this over with," She said, heading towards the man's body.
Like a key to a keyhole, her dagger slid into the guy's back. And as usual, when she twisted it, she heard a welcoming click. For a moment, there was only silence.
"Hey, where-" Once she turned around, she saw him.
The cause of all the problems.
Ever since the beginning.
"It's you, isn't it?"
His green eyes were cold and lifeless as he stared directly at her. "You have no idea who I truly am, do you?"
"I have a feeling I don't want to know"
He clicked his tongue as he kept staring at her. "Is that how you treat friends, did your mother not teach you an ounce of manners, sweety?"
"You're no friend of mine. You never have been." She said coldly, still staring back at him.
"Aw, Desiree. Is that how you treat your older brother?" He laughed and gave her a smirk.
"I am a Prescott after all, no?..."
