Over the next three days, Alexander maintained discreet channels of communication with both Theta and V, his closest allies within the team. They communicated through encrypted messages, ensuring their conversations remained hidden from prying eyes.
The first message Alexander sent to Theta read, "Theta, I've gathered valuable information from the Dealers. Diaz has 110 factions interested, Jones has 76, and Hashimoto has 87. The competition is intense."
Theta's response came promptly: "Thanks for the update, Alexander. We're proceeding as planned, right?"
"Exactly. We need to stay focused and gather concrete data on the faulty cybernetics. We can't get caught up in these bidding wars," Alexander replied.
At the same time, Alexander messaged V, "V, the information I've collected shows that the bidding war is escalating. It's becoming clear that misinformation is being spread to confuse the factions."
V's response was swift: "Understood, Alexander. We'll need to be cautious and meticulous in our analysis. Let's keep the mission's integrity as our top priority."
As the days progressed, Alexander, Theta, and V exchanged updates, sharing their progress and insights. Alexander continued to gather information within the virtual Nexus, while Theta worked diligently on analyzing the data they had acquired so far, and V focused on deciphering the encrypted files they had obtained.
On the second day, Alexander messaged both Theta and V, "I've managed to infiltrate the forums where some factions are discussing their strategies. It seems like there's a mix of genuine interest and attempts to manipulate the bidding war."
Theta's response was swift: "Keep a close eye on those forums, Alexander. We need to be aware of any potential misinformation or manipulation."
V added, "Agreed. Misdirection could be a powerful tool in a situation like this. Stay vigilant."
As the third day approached, Alexander felt a sense of urgency. The team's meeting was scheduled for the following day, and he knew they needed to finalize their approach and strategy.
"Theta, V, our meeting is tomorrow. Let's go over our findings and make a plan. We can't afford to make any mistakes," Alexander messaged both of them.
Theta responded, "Absolutely, Alexander. I've been analyzing the data, and there's definitely an attempt to muddy the waters with false information. We need to verify every piece of data we come across."
"Agreed. Let's discuss our strategy in detail during the meeting tomorrow. We must prioritize the mission over any personal gains," Alexander emphasized, echoing their shared commitment to their mission.
As the day came to a close, Alexander logged out of the virtual Nexus, feeling a mixture of anticipation and determination. The complexities of the situation were becoming clearer, and he knew that their team's unity and strategic thinking would be crucial in navigating the challenges ahead. With the meeting on the horizon, he couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose and camaraderie with his fellow team members.
With the meeting rapidly approaching, Alexander knew that he needed to be well-prepared both mentally and technologically. He had a role to play, and he intended to execute it flawlessly. His Holotech device, a sophisticated piece of technology he had acquired from Psi's faction, would play a pivotal role in this endeavor.
In the privacy of his room, Alexander took out the compact Holotech device and activated it. The device emitted a faint blue glow as its holographic interface materialized in front of him. With a few deft gestures, he accessed the advanced features of the device.
He meticulously programmed a new appearance, carefully crafting a digital mask that would change his virtual appearance in real-time. The mask projected an appearance with a neutral but confident demeanor, an avatar that blended seamlessly with his environment and fellow team members.
As he adjusted the details of his virtual appearance, Alexander couldn't help but marvel at the capabilities of the Holotech. It allowed him to modify his appearance, voice, and even his mannerisms, making him virtually unrecognizable to both friends and foes.
Satisfied with the customization, Alexander stored the mask profile in the Holotech and deactivated the device. The holographic interface disappeared, leaving no trace of his activity as he walked outside his orphanage. Now, with the ability to change his appearance at will, he felt more prepared than ever for the upcoming meeting.
The time for the meeting arrived, and Alexander's heart raced with a mix of anticipation and tension as he activated his HoloTech as soon as he closed the door, leaving the orphanage. The strategic planning location he remembered was under the north bridge, nestled among the wreckage of old vehicles. The red container marked the spot where their team would convene.
He made his way through the bustling streets of Neo Aetheria, his senses attuned to the vibrant city around him. The neon lights and holographic displays reflected off the sleek surfaces of buildings, creating a futuristic tapestry that never failed to captivate him. But today, his mind was focused on the task at hand.
As he reached the north bridge, Alexander spotted the unmistakable red container amidst the vehicle wreckage. It was a subtle yet significant marker, a symbol of their unity in the face of challenges. He approached the container with purpose, his heart pounding in anticipation of what lay ahead.
The container's doors were slightly ajar, revealing a dimly lit space within. As Alexander entered, he found himself in a makeshift meeting room. Holographic screens project data and visuals, creating an atmosphere of secrecy and seriousness. The container was well equipped, a hidden sanctuary where they could discuss their strategies away from prying eyes.
As Alexander stepped into the makeshift meeting room within the container, he was met with a scene that left him utterly stunned. He remained calm and processed what he had just seen. Connecting the pieces together, he somehow made sense of it.
Standing before him was Ethan, the young tech prodigy, similar to his age, whom he had befriended.
"So you are Theta? I am Anderson," Alexander said, lying about his identity and confirming Ethan's identity.
"Yeah, I am Theta; you can call me Ethan here, Ethan replied optimistically. "So Anderson's your real name, huh? Glad to meet you personally.
Yeah, me too, Partner!" Alexander replied with a straight face. "So that's why you're always out in your orphanage too, huh, Ethan? He thought.
"Nice to finally meet you in person, Ethan. I've been curious about the person behind the Theta persona," Alexander said, offering a friendly smile.
Ethan returned the smile, his eyes reflecting a mixture of relief and excitement. "Likewise, Anderson. It's good to know we can now work together face-to-face."
"So, Ethan, you've been leading us all along," Alexander mused, deciding to play along with the scenario for now.
Ethan nodded, his expression earnest. "Yes, it was the best way to ensure our security in the Nexus. And speaking of our team, let me introduce you to the others." He gestured to two individuals who had been standing nearby.
The first person, with a ripped body embedded with cybernetic enhancements, stepped forward, extending a hand toward Alexander. "Hey there, Anderson. I'm Denver, the one you know as 2D."
Alexander shook Denver's hand, noting the easy confidence in his demeanor. "Nice to meet you, Denver."
Ethan motioned toward the second person, a woman with a slender body and a focused and determined expression. "And this is Kaye, also known as MK."
Kaye gave a nod of acknowledgment. "Pleasure to meet you, Anderson. Don't mess up the mission.
Alexander returned the nod. "Absolutely, Kaye. I look forward to working with you."
Ethan's gaze then shifted to another corner of the container, where a man with a composed and observant presence was standing. "Last but not least, this is Vincent, or V. He's our Co-Leader."
V, with a suit and brushed-up hair, stepped forward, his handshake firm and confident. Anderson, it's good to finally meet you in person.
"So..." Alexander was stopped as the container's door opened.
So, as the container's door opened, Alexander's attention shifted toward the entrance, his curiosity piqued. His eyes widened as a figure stepped into the dimly lit room, their presence commanding attention.
It was Psi, the mysterious white-haired girl he had always wondered about, who remained a puzzle throughout his thoughts. She looked different from her Nexus avatar—more real and tangible. Her gaze swept across the room, her piercing eyes seeming to take in every detail.
"I knew it," Alexander thought as he recalled the memory of seeing Ethan from a distance, observing the Haywiring incident and the white-haired girl he followed.
"Ah, now that there's some psychological play there, haha, arriving last, entering all confident," V exclaimed amusingly as Psi entered the room. "This here is Sylvia, the leader we know as Psi; This is Anderson, the one you recruited from nowhere," V introduces as he stands between Sylvia and Alexander.
Anderson, huh? Anyway, I am here to discuss with you our plan of action," Sylvia said.
With all members of the team present, the makeshift meeting room within the container became a hub of focused energy and strategic discussions. Alexander's mind was abuzz with the realization that he was now face-to-face with the team he had been communicating with for so long.
Sylvia, known as Psi, took charge of the meeting, her presence commanding attention. "Alright, everyone. Let's get down to business. As you know, our main objective is to uncover the truth behind the faulty cybernetics and prevent any potential threats to Aeonia."
Sylvia's eyes locked onto Alexander's. "Anderson, you've been gathering valuable information from the Dealers. This will give us a clear understanding of the competition and any potential misinformation being spread."
Alexander nodded, his attention fully focused on Psi's words. "Yes, Psi. The competition is fierce, and there's definite evidence of misinformation being used to manipulate the bidding war."
"Good. This information will be crucial in making informed decisions moving forward," Psi affirmed. "Now, let's address the different challenges we'll be facing."
"First, we have the factions vying for the rewards offered by the Dealers," Denver, also known as 2D, chimed in. "Each faction has its own agenda and resources, and we'll need to navigate this landscape carefully."
Ethan nodded in agreement. "Right. Some factions might even attempt to sabotage our efforts to gather accurate data, so we need to verify everything we come across."
Kaye added, "And let's not forget about the Enforcers. If they catch wind of what we're doing, they could intervene."
Vincent took a step forward. "Exactly. Then there are pacifiers. No one can handle them, not even elite mercenaries."
Psi continued, "On top of all that chaos, when the escort is being targeted by others, that is where we come in."
"The Pacifiers can be of good use. Once all the other factions are reduced to numbers and the Pacifiers tire out, we can then enter." Alexander contributed, recalling his observations of the Pacifiers' movement back in the Haywiring incident.
Psi nodded in agreement. "That's correct. We should engage with them cautiously and assess the situation carefully."
Sylvia's gaze then shifted to the Crates in the room. "Let's talk about our procedures. As we all know, the cybernetics and the body will have some escorts, and they will be in the City Center. I have here some gadgets that Ethan invented. I believe some can be used to acquire the Cybernetics and the others to contain the body. Go all out with your creativity, Denver."
"Oh yeah! This is what I'm talking about, Denver replied excitedly.
Sylvia's gaze then shifted to the holographic screens in the room. "Kaye, your task is to hack the transportation system such that after we acquire the item, you will delay any follow-throughs from all factions, including Pacifiers too. Use all the means you want."
"Then V, you're our espace plan. Use a vehicle that can store this cybernetics. Bring two of those vehicles; I'll drive the other one to cause diversion. Once Denver drops the cybernetics to your vehicle subtlely, Denver will quickly transfer mine as he brings with him this..." Sylvia declares as she pulls out a replica of the cybernetics frame.
"This is just a bunch of scraps I made to resemble the target item. Denver will be carrying this with me, causing any follow-throughs to focus solely on us. Then Kaye, you will lead the Pacifiers to the intersection here." Sylvia points to the screen with a satellite display of the city.
"During this time, Denver will act as if he drops this pile of junk to the ground, leaving all the factions and the Pacifiers fighting over it. Then, as for Anderson, stay with Kaye and act as a lookout if ever the ASED will track her down. Lastly, Ethan, you continue to provide communication between us; tell us if ever some unforeseen circumstances happen. Got it?" As Sylvia ends her discussion.
"Any more questions?" Sylvia asked.
"You seem to have forgotten our meeting point," V intervened.
"As for that, we will not meet on the same day. Rather, we will lay low in the City Center for awhile, Sylvia answered.
"The reason for doing so is to make it seem that we are about to go beyond the crater walls. So all checkpoints and surveillance will solely be focused on the outer part of the city, V elaborated.
"Which is why the game is here is not the cybernetic acquisition but rather how we maintain undetected after. So the crucial role is placed upon Ethan and Kaye, giving us information for the whole day if any situation comes up. Anderson, on the other hand, will act as our delivery guy, providing us with resources until the chaos settles, V stated as he looked everyone in the eyes.
"The meeting point after all this will still be here, Sylvia added.
With the plan meticulously laid out, the team members exchanged nods of understanding and determination. Each had their own role to play, and the synergy among them was palpable.
As the meeting concluded, the team dispersed, already focused on their respective tasks for the upcoming operation. The next day would be crucial, and the success of their mission depended on their coordination, quick thinking, and ability to adapt to unexpected challenges.
