Chereads / Beast Driven System / Chapter 97 - The Lone Adventurer

Chapter 97 - The Lone Adventurer

In order to restore her Mana, she would have to practice the total concentration breathing technique, the technique that would enable her body to siphon the natural Mana that was in the air all around her, transporting that Mana into her body for her to utilize her ability.

After a few minutes of concentration, Kayla began to notice something strange.

'This is weird. Normally, whenever I cultivate my Mana using total concentration breathing, it would take at least a whole hour for my Mana to fully restore. Depending on how injured my body was or the overall quality of Mana I would take in, it would usually take a longer time for my Mana pool to increase.

'But, on this strange planet, it's like my mana is increasing at a much faster rate than it would normally back on Earth. I wonder, does this have something to do with the nature of the Mana in the air?'

Regardless of what it was, she was glad that she would be able to increase her Mana holding capacity at a much faster rate on this planet. Sitting in a lotus position on the ground, she would proceed to pour all her focus into the technique, feeling the energy in the author enter her body through every breath she would take.

She could feel the energy entering a specific part of her body, where it would be primarily stored and dispersed all over her body whenever she would use her ability.

Not paying attention to her surrounding environment, there was a beast not too far away that was keeping a close eye on her. It stood not too far away from her, simply observing her from afar.

Although it could have simply lunged forward at her, attempting to devour her on the spot, it chose not to, and would just stand back, observing her actions.

Thanks to the higher-quality Mana in the air, Kayla was able to cultivate her mana rather quicker than she normally would, and under the assumption that she was alone, she was able to pour all her focus into the technique, allowing her to regain back all her Mana in a short period of time.

Although she had regained her mana, that didn't change the fact that she hadn't eaten anything in a while, and on this strange planet, she wasn't sure if she would ever find anything edible to consume, not unless beast meat was an edible food source for humans.

In the first place, they weren't Nirmal creatures, as they possessed strange powers and body parts that couldn't be found on other types of animals. Moreover, their destructive capabilities, and ability to wipe out entire civilizations of weak individuals with ease, was what earned them the universal name, beasts.

Getting back on to her feet, she began to stretch a little bit, before she continued to run forward, heading into a different area, this time, ready to face whatever creature that laid ahead.

'I must find a way outta here even if it's the last thing I do!' she yelled in her mind, running as fast as she could, transferring a large chunk of her Mana into her legs, allowing her to run at a speed she had never run before in her life.

She ran past multiple areas, crossed rivers, climbed mountains, and had even bumped into a number of beasts on the way, whose bodies had only ended up being impaled by her whenever she would crash into them.

Using her eyes, she had transferred Mana into her eyeballs as well, increasing her vision and allowing her to view her environment clearly despite how quickly she sped up across different areas. After passing through multiple parts of what she could only assume to be a small portion of the planet, she immediately realized that there were nothing but beasts for as far as she had traveled.

She was beginning to lose hope that there was no way for her to return back to where she came from.

It wasn't until a flash of lightning had broken through the sky, and a small figure had shot down from above, crashing right in front of her, dust and debris kicking off in all sorts of directions. The force of the landing had even managed to push her back, causing her to collapse against the ground.

"What was that?!" She asked herself, quickly rushing to her feet as she went on high alert. Activating her ability, she proceeded to surround her flames around both her feets, taking a fighting stance as she was getting ready to fight against whatever creature that decided to giggg against her.

She had no intentions of backing down from a fight.

'I still need to get some strong Mana cores so that I can upgrade my mana pool. If defeating this thing will give me just that, then what the heck? I can put my travel plans for now as I grow stronger on this weird ass planet,' she thought to herself, with a smirk on her face.

'Let's just hope that whatever this is is gonna be worth my time in the end.'

As the object had crashed into the ground, a loud explosion went out, accompanied by a heavy dust cloud that covered a large area around the landing area. After a few minutes, the large dust cloud began to disperse, and slowly, she could see what it was that had almost crashed right into her.

From what she could see, the creature was standing on both its legs. There were sparks that would constantly go off from both of its sides, and as more of the dust would let up, she finally got a clear view of what had nearly landed straight at her.

'Is that… a man?' she asked herself, as the dusk surrounding the person had vanished almost completely, allowing her to make out the image of a man standing right in front of her.

The man had fiery red hair and sparks running across both of his arms. Although she hadn't heard much about them, one thing she knew was the attire they would wear, and looking at what the man was currently wearing, there was no doubt in her mind regarding who this person was.

"You… you're an adventurer, right?" She asked.

The man didn't respond immediately, instead, his gaze was fixated right in front of her, and the next second, he kicked off against his legs, heading towards her with his fists ready to strike.

'He's planning on attacking me!' quickly, she Drew her fist back, ready to deliver an attack of her own. As the two got closer to each other, Kayla swung her fist forward, however, she had missed the man's face completely, and looking back, she quickly realized that she had made a mistake.

'He wasn't even trying to attack me?!'

Standing right behind her, there was what appeared to be a purple scaled fish man, having the upper body of a fish, and the lower body of a human being, boosting two normal human legs enabling it to walk on land.

With his right hand, the man had pierced right through the head of the beast, killing it in one blow. Black blood could be seen across the ground from the strike, and from where the adventurer had hit the beast, more black blood was oozing out of the wound, onto his arm and also dripping onto the ground.

'He managed to kill that beast in one blow…' although she had no idea about the grade of the beast, the fact that this man was able to kill a beast so easily, most especially one that she was unable to detect, was something that made her believe that he must be somewhat strong.

Being who she was, she couldn't help but think what she could gain by sticking around him for a while.

Pulling his hand out, he allowed for the creature's body to hit the ground. The beast showed no signs of moving, which just further confirmed the fact that it had been killed. Immediately, the man tore through the body of the beast, searching for its Mana core. It didn't take long till the man discovered what he was looking for, and placed it in a safe place for safe keeping.

"Now that I have dealt with you…" the adventurer then turned his head, looking back at the girl that attempted to attack him. Looking at her hands, he noticed that there were no longer any flames surrounding her fists, meaning that she no longer had any ideas of attacking him, at least, that was how it seemed on the surface.

He didn't know who this person was, so he would have to be careful in case she had any ideas of attacking him when he wasn't prepared to defend himself.
