Chapter 78 - Securing A Win (Part 4)

Securing A Win(Part 4)

In the room where the generals and the agent were holding their meeting, a holographic screen was set up that allowed them to monitor the battle taking place on the outside. While they were talking about what they could perhaps do to help, Agent Nero had her gaze fixated on the screen, watching everything that was happening on the outside.

Meanwhile, not wanting to feel like they weren't doing anything to help out in the current situation, the generals were discussing something amongst themselves.

_________

The remaining soldiers left standing had gathered together to launch a final attack at the Shale. Their commander, having only one arm left, but still filled with zeal, rallied them and boosted their morale in the current battle, giving them all the motivation they needed to keep on fighting by being the first to launch a final attack.

Still, despite all their efforts, all it took was a simple barrier spell from the Shale to make all their efforts amount to nothing.

"I can't believe that of all if Earth's forces, the people I have to go against are a bunch of ants!" The Shale laughed uncontrollably as it let its barrier go down once the barrage of attacks came to an end. "Now, it's my turn to show you what true power looks like!"

Swirling its hands in the air, the typical blue energy would surround them both, with its eyes glowing a bright blue as well. Enveloping its body was a blue aura that made the remaining soldiers shudder in fear. Turning to face their commander, even he looked taken aback by the fact that the creature was willing to go so far at such a point in time.

"Everyone! Keep on attacking!" He yelled, doing the best he could to gather more Mana in his body to activate his body. Yet, despite how much he tried, there was barely any Mana left, and even if there was, his body would use every bit of Mana left to heal his wounds.

"Yes, sir!" They all screamed in unison, some still able to generate attacks and hurling them at the creature.

__________

"They're going to die!" Agent Nero yelled at the top of her lungs, unable to cope with the stress of things any longer.

It looked like all was going to be lost. The soldiers had done the best they could to fight back, but the alien was proving to be just too powerful for them. The battle had dragged on for weeks, and now, it seemed to be nearing its conclusion at it looked like the Shale was done playing with them.

If it so wished, then it would have wiped them out from the very beginning.

The commander, barely managing to stand on his two feet, was struggling to think of what to do as the Shale was preparing a powerful attack. The other soldiers were busy firing attacks, while those who were severely low on Mana decided to use whatever weapons they could find to try and attack the alien from a close range.

Some had high-tech lasers. Others had advanced swords, while a few possessed axes and maces. All these weapons we're magical weapons, and not weak ones either. Still, as they smashed them against the Shales's hard scales, they simply shattered on impact.

"Those weapons are of the King Grade. It may not seem like much when compared to the higher grades, it still doesn't change the fact that the higher the grade, the higher the power gap between magical weapons. This Shale, is far stronger than any King Grade weapon one could find anywhere.

"Moreover, it seems like all those who could have helped in this situation are either a part of the major families, or are working for one of the military schools. I wonder, wasn't Agent Nero supposed to be here to back us up?

"With her power, we should be able to win this, right?"

__________

Agent Nero was starting to think the same thing. Maybe if she had decided to act sooner, instead of waiting here trying to talk sense into these people, then she might have been able to change the outcome at least a little bit.

She should be strong enough to go against the Shale and save the rest of the city.

"As long as it's not above the first grade, then I should be fine…" she said softly, before exiting the room.

The generals turned their heads in her direction as she left the room before turning back to face one another.

"So it's agreed?" One of them said, abd the others nodded their heads in response.

__________

Currency standing outside, Agent Nero would have to make a run for it towards where the battle was taking place. Fortunately, there was a bright source of light not too far away, alerting her on where the soldiers were battling against the alien.

With her speed, she had made it just in time, and was now standing right beside the commander.

"Agent Nero! You're here!" The man said, raising his hand to give out a proper salute. "I'm glad you made it. We desperately need your help."

Looking forward, she could see the Shale, glowing with power as it slowly opened its mouth, snarling at them.

She gripped her fists tightly, and without giving a response, the air around her began to change. Her eyes went completely white, and the rubble around her began to shake. Without warning, she dashed forward, her fist ready to clash against the alien.

Seeing this, a bright beam of energy came shooting out of the alien's mouth, heading straight towards her.

Raising both of her arms in a defensive position, she walked right into the blash, however, the attack merely deflected from her body, heading in all sorts of directions hitting buildings, the road, and even killing a couple stray animals rummaging around here and there.

"Die!" She screamed, slamming her fist right into the side of the creature's head, causing it to yell out in pain. "This is for all the people you killed!" She slammed her fists against the creature's head over and over again, with no signs of slowing down or stopping anytime soon.

___________

On his way back to his dorm room, Zain wasn't expecting to come across these bunch of students once again. The last time they had met, he had been defeated before he even had a chance to fight back, but now, with his senses hightened, he was able to pick up on their presence before the first attack on him was made.

"Now, let's see if Kumon's lessons will really come in handy," Zain said, as he closed his eyes and began to concentrate.

"Hah! Look at him! The fool thinks he can fight us with his eyes closed. What does he think this is? Strikers United? Light him up!" A girl in front yelled, pointing straight at Zain.

She was the same student who Kayden had interrogated about Paul's condition. Along with her, was the boy who had defended her, who, after hearing about Zain defeating a high ranking student, thought it would be best to take advantage of the opportunity and defeat him as well, thus become a high-ranking student and gaining the benefits that come with it.

After a while of arguing back and forth, the two had come to an agreement as to who would be the one to finish him off.

"I can't wait to become the sixth strongest student!" The girl yelled, pumping her fist in the author with excitement.

'Now!' Zain yelled in his mind, as his eyes shit open, right before the lightning could strike him, moving his body to the side to dodge the attack.

"All you did was dodge, you fool! What else are you gonna do?" She asked, looking at the students who were standing beside her. "Face it! You're done."

"Not quite," Zain responded, with a smile on his face.

"Aaahhh!" One of the students yelled, feeling a deep slash going across his arms, drawing out blood as his body fell towards the floor, rolling about as he continued to scream out loud.

Soon, other students began to feel the same pain as they couldn't remain standing for much longer.

"What's going on?!" The boy yelled, his eyes wide in shock.

Meanwhile, the smile on Zain's face remained.

__________

Kayden and Shawn were going toe-to-toe with Kayla Ven, and despite their teamwork, it seemed like it wasn't going to be enough to overwhelm her. After having her Mana aura active for so long, it seemed as though she still had a lot more Mana left to use.

Either that, or her Mana regeneration was just on a whole other level.

"Yes! This is exactly what I need to push myself!" She yelled, swiping her leg in the air, only for the both of them to dodge the strike. "Unlike you two, my ability grants me the offense advantage. You two are barely managing with your defensive abilities," she mused, moving in for another attack.
