"'Geez… why did I even bother asking about this girl's crazy family?' Kayden wondered, struggling to move from how hard she had knocked him to the ground. He could feel his face pressing hard against the hard surface, as his hands laid unmoving beside either side of his body.
Wanting to get back up to his feet, the fear of what she might do to him lingered in his mind, forcing him to stay down until she had ordered him to get back onto his feet.
"Get ready," was all she said, before charging straight at him, activating her ability also. Seeing this, Kayden proceeded to do the same. Still, he was wondering how this fight would help her learn more about the Mana aura technique, as what she was currently doing was simply her making use of her main ability in combat.
Seeing a flaming fist coming his way, he swung his head to the side, then from below, a claw swipe came that missed her face by mere inches as she raised her head backwards, while using her legs to kick against his abdomen, pushing him back and creating distance between the both of them.
"Not bad. You're not as weak as I thought," she said, before closing her eyes and beginning to concentrate. "Now, let's see if you can handle this!" She yelled, as a familiar aura surrounded her body, the bright glow making the slightly dim room appear far more brighter.
"Let's see you handle Mana aura!" She declared, as a yellow ball of light began to gather in her right hand, and without much hesitation, she threw it in his direction like a piece of rock. "Show me that I was wrong for calling you weak!"
Seeing this attack heading towards him, there was only one thought on his mind currently.
'Man, this bitch must be crazy!' still, he would have to do something against this, and before he could even move his body, Kayla had suddenly appeared behind him, her hand charged with the same yellow energy, as she pressed it against his back, causing him to yell out in pain.
'I ised to hear people say that this bitch was a sweetheart who cared about nothing else than getting stronger. Before we even met, although I barely paid any attention to her, I used to think that she was actually a sweet and kindhearted human being who cared about not hurting people,' Kayden thought, as he was unable to process what next move to take as her latest attack was keeping him in place.
'At first, she would always mind her business and not get involved with the matters of others. But then, all of a sudden, she changed. Just like that, she went from being the nice, innocent student, to being the reincarnation of satan that she is today!'
Memories of the time when he would be walking through the school hallways resurfaced in his mind. He was simply minding his own business, but then, he would hear students talk about the good deeds that Kayla would usually perform.
"You won't believe it! You know Kayla Ven? The Titan one?"
"Yeah? What about her?"
"Man, you have a crush on her or something? These days, you seem to be talking about her a lot."
"Shut up! I don't know what you're talking about! It's not like that!"
"Oh, really? Then how is it? Explain it in a way that even a toddler would understand."
The student took a while before responding.
"Y-you know what?! Fuck you, Chris! You sure know how to make someone have a mad day," the student said, shaking his fists and head non-stop.
"What did I do now?" Chris asked, looking left and right. "You know what, man, just go ahead and tell us what you heard."
After a few moments of seemingly unending yelling and excuses, the student had calmed down, the smile and excitement returning to his face.
"Alright! You won't believe what I found out today! So I was just on my way here when I saw her help defend a low-ranked student against a high-ranking student, the boy said, the excitement on his face making it look like he was actually in love with her.
Hearing this news, the others began to whisper to each other.
"Hang on, you mean Kayla, the Titan one and strongest first year, had stopped to help out a lowlife student? Because of what? Was the student blackmailing her or something?"
"Maybe, but how could a pathetic low rank blackmail Kayla Ven? She's the strongest and comes from one of the most powerful families in the world."
"Maybe she actually felt sorry for the guy and decided to help him out."
Hearing this, they all burst into a fit of laughter, causing a couple of them to loose their balance and collapse on to the floor, though it didn't stop their incessant laughing.
Kayden had decided to slow down his pace as he walked past these bunch of students. Since he out ranked them, he knew they weren't going to try anything with him as he keenly listened in on their conversation.
'That was what made me believe that you were actually, but after everything you've done,' memories of the time when she had interrogated, Kumon, Zain, and a couple other students, flashed in his mind. She wasn't the kind and considerate person that that student made her out to be.
Instead, she was cold-hearted, cruel, willing to do whatever it took just to get what she wanted.
'Perhaps it was her brother's case that pushed her to be the way she is. But still, from time to time, I can see it in her eyes, the way she looks at people. She actually enjoys torturing others and making them suffer.
'She's just like the rest of them.'
Kayden was unable to move as Kayla had him pinned with her Mana aura, but Kayden wasn't ready to call it the end to their fight. Forcing his body to move, he began to concentrate intensively, feeling the Mana flowing in his body, he was doing the best he could to draw that energy out of his body.
'Let's match Mana aura with Mana aura!' he yelled in his mind, as he could feel some of the Mana seeping out, though such a small amount wasn't going to do much to help him out. From the corner of his eyes, he could see it. The deranged look on her face.
'What a monster…' he thought.
Through his system, he cound see that his Mana was depleting. Whatever attack she was currently using against him, it was working to deal immense damage to his body. However, as the attack would injured his body, his Mana would quickly heal whatever wound he had incurred.
[21,000 Mana points left]
'This may seem like much now, but I don't know how to get out of this current situation. And if I spend too much time like this, then all my Mana would be used up in healing my injuries. Then once I have no Mana left, there would be nothing to combat the forming wounds and I would eventually loose consiousness.
'I doubt that a witch like her would bother taking me to the infirmary right after nearly beating the life out of me. Best case scenario, she asks one of her minions to drag my unconscious body and place it beside the door to the infirmary.
'Worse case, she leaves me here and does nothing else about it.'
While thinking about this, Kayla had delivered a kick to his back, sending his body flying straight into a wall, before it had crashed against the floor.
'Glad she didn't keep me in that state for long. I'm not sure if I would have found a way out if that,' he thought, finding the strength to get back up to his feet. There was a huge burn mark on the centre of his back, cuts and briuses around his back and shoulders from the attack, and his face was also damaged from the impact when he had hit the wall.
Despite that, all his injuries were healed with his Mana. Looking at the message floating in front of his eyes, it stated just how much Mana he had left.
[20,000 Mana Points left]
'This is right after all my injuries have been healed. Still, I'm wondering, why hasn't she attacked me yet?' he thought, looking at her as she stood in place, the yellow aura surrounding her and making her look less of a human and more of a celestial being.
Kayden couldn't help but afdmut that the form was very powerful and had a lot of potential. But he would have to put a lot of work to learn it. He was wondering whether she was planning on doing anything, as she hadn't moved after kicking him towards the wall.
'Maybe she's still not used to the power,' he thought, clenching his fists. If he were to constantly get hit by her attacks, then his Mana would just keep on depleting to heal his injuries. Despite that, he was the one being forced into this situation. So the least he could do was use it to bring out his best.
