Isabelle chuckled a little.
"She's cool, right?" Isabelle's words made Kyle feel self-conscious, as his thoughts had been left exposed. "You'd be surprised if you actually listen to her."
He cleared his throat, ignoring his kind of guilty mind. "So, what do you suggest?"
He asked casually, as if the whole thing didn't give him things to think about in the first place.
Cassidy hummed, tilting her head to one side and touching her lower with one finger, thinking. The gesture, as simple and innocent as it was, drew Kyle's vibrant eyes towards her lips. He swallowed, biting his lips as he forced his brain to stop forming whatever devious thoughts it was forming.
After a couple of seconds, that seemed eternal to him, she finally answered.
"Get to know them as much as you can before getting too excited. Then do this mental exercise: Imagine you can't have sex with this person at all. Doesn't matter the reason. And if it doesn't bother you at all, then it's the right person. Because you don't need sex to be the sole base of your relationship. Afterward, you can fuck her when and how you want it."
"Damn." Allen spoke, nodding. "Now, THAT'S an advice." Then, he looked over at Kyle. "I'm not asking you anything again."
Kyle blinked a couple of times, offended. Seeing his expression, so dramatic and overreacted, Cassidy couldn't help but laugh. Something that triggered Isabelle and Allen's laughs as well.
"Alright, you can laugh all you want." Kyle lifted his hands, defeated. Knowing there was no way he could get himself out of it. Specially since Cassidy had just said something that, in fact, made a lot of sense. "Keep laughing at the less fortunate."
Allen smirked, leaning forward. "I can still invite you over for some CoD, though." Allen said with a somewhat thoughtful expression.
Kyle snorted. "Oh, such a good friend."
Then, he couldn't help but smile again. Allen has always been a good friend to him. And he knew that, even if it was pure torture for his introverted friend, he would still offer his place if Kyle needed a place to live in.
He was a total jerk to people if he wanted to, and he was certainly a man of few words. But he was always genuine. Something that Kyle really appreciated.
Cassidy's chuckle beside him caught his attention. And even though he wanted to look at her so badly, he just swallowed it. His smile remained in his face, enjoying the teasing that was supposed to be triggering him.
Not more than half a minute passed, when Isabelle excused herself to go to the bathroom.
Now, the moment Allen followed her, coming up with a lazy excuse, he knew he was not coming back.
He laid back on the chair, watching his best friend's back as he disappeared by the door. He smirked, shaking his head at how Allen has turned into this dirty bag of hormones.
Cassidy looked his way, ignoring the feeling of nervousness she felt after realizing she was to be alone with him again, and raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you laughing?" She asked, half annoyed, half curious.
Kyle looked at her as well. "You really don't know?"
Cassidy shrugged. Kyle's smile deepened as he slowly leaned towards her, setting his arm over the back of her chair. He kept his lips a few inches from her ear, when he whispered.
"Can't you guess what they'll be doing?"
She kept her back straight as his breath tickled her ear, and her mind set on what he was saying.
Could Isabelle really be… She started the thought, but immediately shut it down.
She shook her head, making Kyle laugh softly.
"What? Can't picture sweet Iry into something like that?"
"Honestly? No." She winced. "I guess you can picture Allen without a problem."
"Well, it's not his first time…" He admitted. His words stung Cassidy's pride, as it was her best friend he was with. Kyle tilted his head, and smiled mockingly. "And before you say anything, this is the first time he looks for it."
Kyle was still leaning against her, but she didn't care. Her face looked out for his, stopping mere inches away.
He looked at her intently, daring her to run her mouth like she has done before.
"That's not for me to confirm, is it?" Her chocolate brown eyes stared at him, ignoring how close his lips actually were.
Kyle tilted his head to one side, detailing her face for a second.
"My words exactly, sunshine." He voiced out, softly, as if pressing her for giving him the right answer.
Cassidy rolled her eyes, even though she found his voice quite enticing.
"Why you keep calling me sunshine?"
"Cause that's exactly what you are." He half smiled. "Why? You don't like it?"
She pressed her lips, disappointed on herself that the first answer that came to mind was a 'yes'.
"No." She lied, her voice lacking the force she wanted.
Kyle's vibrant green eyes sparkled without his notice, his smile widening. He felt thrilled that, because her usual spitefulness was missing, perhaps she was lying.
The bell rang right when he was about to give his answer. Something he took advantage off, leaning over to whisper into her ear.
"Too bad, sunshine. I've grown quite fond of it."
He stepped back with a smug smile on his face.
"I'll walk you." He rose from his seat, and took a couple of stepped ways from the table; turning around to signal her to move on. "C'mon."
Cassidy remained in place for a second, looking at him with her eyes narrowed. Her expressions was that of annoyance, people could even think she was in a bad mood.
But it was either that, or blushing. And the second one was not an option at the moment.
She was not sure how she manages to stay calm in situations like this, but she thanked God for it. Reluctantly, she got herself up the chair and grabbed her bag; walking straight towards him.
When, in hell, she thought she would find herself in that situation? Never. And yet, she couldn't fully complain about it.
As she walked around the halls, she wondered behind which door her best friend was making out with the hottest guy in school.
Scratch that. One of the hottest guys in school.
Because yes, she had to admit Kyle was hot as hell, too. In his own flirty, smug, and unnaturally handsome way.
The blonde guy caught her staring at every corner and every door, in their way to her classroom, in a futile attempt to spot her friend. He smiled, looking at how cute her worried expression looked like.
And before she could make her way inside, he whispered.
"Relax, he's not gonna do anything she'd regret."
"How—" She began, but was interrupted by his words.
"I can read it all over your face." He mocked. "You're pretty expressive, y'know?" After flashing a charming smile, he walked backward as he waved goodbye. "See you tomorrow."
Cassidy clumsily waved back in a trance.
A trance that only lasted a few seconds, when she scolded herself mentally. She hated that he had the last say in every conversation they had.
Like leaving her speechless was an easy thing for him to do.
Her mind rummaged about his stupid blonde hair and his stupid green eyes and his stupid confident smile, when the top trending topic of the day arrived to class.
Late.
She narrowed her eyes at the red-head, who excused herself inside the classroom, and avoided Cassidy's glare as much as she could Cassidy's.
At that moment, Cassidy knew Isabelle was guilty.
Kyle's words resonated inside her mind, and she knew it was not of her business… Kinda, because for the heavens she was going to find out about what, exactly.
As the good best friend she actually was.
