"I'm not—"
"Cass?" Isabelle's high-pitched voice rose from the other side of the hall.
Cassidy took a step back, placing her eyes on her best friend's scared expression. "What happened? Are you OK?"
The blonde nodded, a half smile on her face. "Yeah. The brute of Nathan was playing with the team's ball inside the hall and broke the window."
"Principal Dalton's gonna send him home for a week for this." Isabelle shook his head, finally noticing Kyle beside them. A strain of blood flowing from his right hand. Her eyes widened. "Kyle! My God you're hurt."
She approached him, reaching to his hand. Cassidy's heart skipped a beat, guilt blooming inside her. He looked down at his hand, obviously just realizing he was hurt, too.
"It's just a scratch." He shrugged, heading down the hall. "I'll go clean this up. You guys go first."
Not long after he was out of sight and Isabelle and Cassidy were already at the table, Isabelle started talking.
