Chapter 13 - Cragspur I

-- April 28th, 0AT --

It took eleven days for Deimos and Tamora to reach the capital city of the Kingdom of Cragspur.

As Deimos and Tamora entered through the Gate of Cragspur, Deimos couldn't help but take in the familiar sight before him. A refreshing view that but him at ease knowing that the other Kingdoms couldn't penetrate this deep into the Kingdom.

The capital city, Cragspur, was a sprawling fortress nested in the valley of the Crag Mountain Range. The buildings were built in what appeared to be a Japanese style of architecture to Deimos.

It was a vast city; red, white, and gold buildings could be seen throughout the mountain range. Beyond these buildings were looming dark gray walls that served as the first line of defense for Cragspur. As he looked over the city, two areas stood out to Deimos. The first was the palace of the Warlord located in the back of the valley. It stood as a symbol of power for the Kingdom of Cragspur and was where the Warlord Ujiyasu held court.

The second area that stood out to Deimos was the High Hermitage. It was an untamed area of Cragspur that contained wild Pokemon that the Cragspur military often captured to later utilize on the battlefield. It was rumored that Ujiyasu had discovered how to evolve his Boldore into a Gigalith while exploring the depths of High Hermitage.

"Come," Tamora monotonously said, pausing as her eyes swept over the vast city of Cragspur.

"We must see Captain Ujiteru immediately and report our findings." She finished with a slight hitch when she mentioned Captain Ujiteru's name.

Nodding his head in agreement, Deimos continued to survey the city as he followed Tamora through the streets. While he had never been to the city of Cragspur in his new life, he had the memories of the old Deimos. The memories of the old Deimos depicted it as a city full of life, a stark contrast to the high-stress situations Deimos had recently found himself in.

The civilian district was a constant flow of people, mostly civilians with an occasional patrol made by the Cragspur military. Slowly the scenery changed from a bustling city life to a more militaristic background as Deimos followed Tamora into the military district of the city.

They approached a traditional Cragspur office-like building that had a sign out front stating, 'Boldore Company Headquarters'. Gazing at the building, Deimos's nerves slowly started to build as he realized he'd be meeting a man who had ambitions to capture a legendary momentarily.

Deimos stopped as Tamora turned to him in front and said, "Ensure you use customs and courtesies when we speak to Captain Ujiteru, he deserves to be respected and is a no-nonsense man, understood Squire?"

"Understood, Knight Tamora," Deimos stated while using her honorific to ensure that he got the point across. 'Hm, she really respects him if she feels the need to remind me about something that was drilled into everyone who joined the military,' Deimos thought to himself.

Entering the building, Deimos made his way with Tamora to the top floor where Captain Ujiteru's office was located. Pausing outside the door, Tamora quickly smoothed down her uniform and hair before knocking on the door.

For a moment, there was no response, before a smooth and cold male voice said, "Enter."

Deimos followed Tamora into the room before snapping to attention, as one would in front of an officer. 'He looks like a stereotypical villain with that greased back hair, wonder how much product he uses,' Deimos couldn't but think to himself as he took in Captain Ujiteru's appearance.

He was dressed in the standard red, black, and gold uniform of Cragspur. His eyes were pitch black, nearly the exact shade of coal. His hair was slicked back, but more importantly, he was frowning.

"Knight Tamora. Care to explain what, exactly happened with the very sensitive mission I entrusted you with," Ujiteru spoke in a very calm manner, almost as if he wasn't bothered by the absence of over half the team.

Tamora took out her Rotom phone and handed it over to Ujiteru before explaining,

"On my Rotom phone is a picture I took of a mural that we found in the Sacred Four Mountains. I believe it to be a depiction of the half-blooded Terrakion that you believe to be living within the Sacred Four mountains. We did not attempt to decipher it on the way back knowing that you would want to do so yourself."

Ujiteru surveyed the image on the Rotom phone for several minutes, his facial expressions giving nothing away about what he was thinking about. Finally, he put the Rotom phone down on his desk.

"Excellent work Knight Tamora, Page. This is precisely what I needed."

Drumming his fingers, Ujiteru then said,

"Knight Tamora, you're dismissed. Remain outside, I will need to speak to you after I speak to Page Deimos here."

Nodding her head, Tamora quickly exited the room and closed the door behind herself, leaving Deimos alone in the room with Ujiteru.

'Shit,' Deimos thought to himself. He wasn't sure why the Captain wanted him to remain behind in the room with him but he was confident it wasn't for a good reason.

"From the report I received from Tamora, you did well. So well that I have another mission in mind for you. However, with your current level of strength, the odds of you making it through are slim. See me after a month. Dismissed." Ujiteru spoke after looking Deimos up and down.

As Deimos left the room his mind raced with different thoughts. 'Mission? Well? What the fuck did I just involve myself with. Damn it I just had to put myself on the radar of a man that's seeking a legendary and probably involved with Team Rocket.'

Arriving outside the building, Deimos glanced around. Truthfully, he didn't know what to do besides train, it seemed like the only logical thing to do.

'What to do, what to do,' Deimos thought as he began walking back in the direction of the civilian district. A month was a lot of time, and based on the information that Ujiteru had given him he would have to use most of it towards training.

Deimos did briefly consider the option of adding a new Pokemon to his team, that way in case Boldore did meet an unfortunate and unexpected end he would have another Pokemon on hand. However, as a Cragspur Page Deimos most definitely didn't have the resources to properly develop two Pokemon at the same time.

'Boldore it is then. I'll have to develop its move set over this next month in preparation for the mission. Tackle, Headbutt, Harden, and Smack Down are the only moves Boldore's mastered so far, which is a good start. I'll have to develop Stealth Rock, Sand Attack, and another physical move for Boldore this month,' Deimos thought to himself.

Continuing in the same direction, Deimos utilized his previous self-memories to guide himself to the Cragspur market. Arriving at the bustling market, Deimos made his way through the crowd towards the area that contained vendors selling different TMs.

Whereas other regions had dedicated Poke Marts that sold TMs, the Ransei region did not. Businesses such as the Poke Centers are owned by the Joy Clan and the Poke Marts are owned by Silph Co. hadn't expanded to Ransei yet due to the constant wars between Kingdoms.

While these businesses may not have had any interest in selling directly within Ransei, that did not mean that they didn't expand their market to the region. They sold to vendors in the Ransei region who then sold to the populace of the region.

Striding through the market, Deimos kept his eyes peeled for one move type. Rock. Boldore would be able to learn rock-type moves more easily due to its inherent typing. This was something that Deimos planned on capitalizing on during this next month of training.

After a little bit, Deimos finally came across the rock-type TM vendor in the market. Browsing through the options, Deimos frowned, 'None of these moves are physical, which is something I planned on getting,' he thought.

Scanning through the options available to him, two caught Deimos's eye. Sandstorm and Power Gem. One would be a great utility option that Boldore could use to help them escape, and one would bolster Boldore's attacking range. Unfortunately, Deimos only had enough spare cash for one of the two moves.

After careful consideration of the options in front of him for several minutes, Deimos decided to go with Sandstorm. It would Boldore with an auxiliary move that could be used to conceal their presence on the battlefield or aid them in escaping.

Purchasing Sandstorm from the vendor, Deimos thanked the man before moving away towards a hotel where he would be staying for the night. It was a short affair to get checked into the hotel, and soon enough Deimos found himself in the comfort of a room he would be renting for the next month.

"Boldore!" Boldore exclaimed when it was released from the Pokeball.

"Good to see you, buddy," Deimos said with a slight smile before reaching into his bag to retrieve the Sandstorm TM that he had purchased earlier in the day.

"I purchased a new move for you called Sandstorm, it should improve our survivability on the battlefield and our chances of escaping if we find ourselves in any sticky situation," Deimos told Boldore.

"This is my first time using a TM, but I think I just need to place this on your head for it to work," Deimos said before placing the TM on Boldore's head.

The TM started to glow and Boldore's eyes closed as information began to be transmitted to it. The process only took a few minutes and Boldore's eyes opened once the glow of the TM faded.

"Did it work?" Deimos asked Boldore.

"Boldore," Boldore responded before a small amount of dust was kicked up within the room signaling that Boldore did understand how to use a rudimentary version of a sandstorm from the TM.

"It's a start, you'll need to train and refine it over the next month," Deimos said with a smile. Things were beginning to shape up for him. For the first time since his transmigration into this world, he wasn't in constant danger. He now had the time to collect his bearings and figure out what he wanted to do with this new life that was before him.
