Michaelis pinched his nose bridge, trying to find a way to get out of this situation.
"I would break the seal."
Michaelis sighed.
"We can't break the seal."
Leviathan raised his head.
"This is a life thing. We are bound, and the seal will be gone if one of us is dead."
"Ah."
Leviathan became quiet again.
Actually, Michaelis didn't know if there were any ways to break the seal because he had searched for every book and record regarding this topic. But he found nothing.
Michaelis let out a sigh for the umpteen time. Obviously, Michaelis didn't want to die just for this type of reason. He also didn't want to kill anyone if possible.
What they need to do is tolerate the relationship they have right now. Leviathan can't run away from him if this snake doesn't want to die. Michaelis also needed to give Leviathan his blood for both of their sakes.
He didn't show it, but the shaking and hotness he felt right now really made him annoyed. But Leviathan is in much worse condition than him. The vampire snake is sweating profusely.
"There is nothing much we can do except accept our situation right now."
The slit-gold eyes looked at him. Michaelis could see the innocence in those eyes. This must be the first time for this vampire snake to form a sealing process, or he never knew he had unintentionally done one.
"How did you survive until now if you never sealed anyone before?"
That is something he needed to know. How did this vampire survive without blood? Does he drink blood from anyone without activating the sealing process? Does Leviathan drink animal blood instead?
If ever anyone died because of a loss of blood, the news should have spread. A precaution should have been taken. But there is no news about a vampire or any attacks from vampires.
So, how did Leviathan live before? Leviathan also did not come back after months of first drinking Michaelis' blood. How is that possible when this vampire snake is literally like a hungry beast now?
"I sleep."
What?
"I just woke up three years ago. When I woke up, I didn't see anyone, just some vials of blood in a cabinet. I didn't know what happened before I fell asleep or how long I fell asleep, but I found the diary of someone. So, I know, I have been sleeping for 300 years."
Michaelis listened intently.
'That is the time when the vampire snake clan goes extinct. Hibernate for 300 years; there must be something or someone who made him like that.'
"From the diary, I got to know that I was the only one left in my clan. I don't know the cause or why I am the only one left alive. I don't know much about my clan because there are no records about it at all. I also did not remember anything before I fell asleep for 300 years. Just my name."
Michaelis crossed his arms.
'The vampire snake clan could be murdered by their enemy, but why would they leave Leviathan alone? Maybe Leviathan was actually being hidden away and put into a comatose state to ensure his safety. There is more to this.'
And Michaelis didn't want to wreck his brain over this sort of thing.
"So where did you go after you drank my blood for the first time? You did not come back after months."
This time, Leviathan looked him in the eyes.
"Why would I tell you?"
Leviathan crossed his arms, looking smug all of a sudden.
"But I would tell you if you were too curious—"
"No, thank you. I am not curious at all."
"Eh really? Ah, then I don't need to tell you. You are really not interested?"
Leviathan looked timid again.
"No."
"Oh okay. I won't tell you even if you beg me after this."
Michaelis looked at Leviathan with a bored face.
"It's better if we move to what we should do with our current situation."
"Tsk okay."
Leviathan looked like a sulking child. Maybe Leviathan actually fell into a long slumber even before he reached puberty. Is that why he is acting like a child? But his demeanour before made him look like someone who has many experiences.
Michaelis didn't know if Leviathan was actually an adult or just a child acting like an adult.
Or just a mask of pretentiousness.
"What should we do then?"
Michaelis shrugged his shoulders.
"Nothing, really."
"Huh? So what now?"
"I said there was nothing we could do."
Michaelis rose from the couch and walked towards Leviathan. He also pulled the patch from his neck, revealing the two holes from the bite that were still red.
"It means nothing. We need to change nothing."
"You mean—"
Michaelis stopped in front of Leviathan. Leviathan raised his head to look at Michaelis; his eyes occasionally glanced at Michaelis' neck. He swallowed his saliva when he could smell the blood.
"Yes. Just do what you need to do now. You looked like you were about to pass out."
"Honey...."
"I lied. I just sprayed some honey fragrance in my room. You worry too much; you won't even die if you consume honey."
"I would still get sick!"
Michaelis rolled his eyes. A little honey won't kill a vampire snake. But honey is like a laxative, or more accurately, it is like a drug. They would feel dizzy and have a serious stomachache if they ever consumed even a little bit of honey.
It could be worse if they consumed too much; the vampire snake might lose function in their body and mind. Well, the honey candy Michaelis wanted to give to Leviathan would just make him have a stomachache—nothing too serious.
He didn't know why this piece of information was written in the book about vampires. For him, it looks like silly information among all the major information about the vampire. After all, there is not much written about vampire snakes.
"Just get over with this. I want to sleep. I have class tomorrow."
"Really? You would let me drink your blood just like that? Really? For real?"
Michaelis sighed.
"Yes. But,"
The but from Michaelis makes Leviathan's movement halt.
"One, you can't drink my blood without my permission first."
"That's easy!"
"Two, become a proper slave for me. And—"
"Hey, why would I become your slave?"
"Three, don't let yourself get caught."
"Caught? Heh, easy! But I disagree with the second one!"
"You have no choice, Leviathan. I am the superior one here."
Leviathan shuddered when he looked into the shining eyes of Michaelis. He could feel the same pressure and find it hard to breathe, just like before.
"Could you reword the word slave? You can call me partner instead, because we are in a give-and-take relationship, right?"
"Nah, boring."
"Hey! I would protect you if anything ever happened to you! I could also heal you if you get hurt! I won't let you die!"
That's not convincing. Michaelis just didn't like to be watched by people that much. But the healing part is kind of interesting.
"Okay, then, we are partners."
Leviathan nodded in agreement. That's better than being called a slave. Why would he bow down to a human's child? This kid was not even half his age.
Leviathan rose to his feet. Leviathan grabbed his shoulders and decreased their distance.
"Wait."
Leviathan stopped. The hungry look in his eyes can't be hidden anymore. He hissed at the sudden interruption.
"Can you bite me somewhere else?"
"Huh? Why?"
"It's hurt."
"It won't make much difference if I bite somewhere else. Besides, your neck makes it easier for me to have excess blood in a bigger blood vessel. I need a lot of blood."
Michaelis frowned and let out a sigh.
"Go on."
Without a second thought or interruption, a pair of fangs sunk into his neck. Michaelis frowned in pain. He clenched his hands tightly.
"F*ck."
Michaelis would almost fall if Leviathan did not catch him. Leviathan is just too consumed with drinking his blood right now. He should have sat down, and he didn't know it would be more hurtful than when he was in a panic state.
His vision became blurry, and at that time, Leviathan finally let him go. His knees went weak, and Leviathan caught him and laid him down on the couch.
"You drink too much, bastard."
Michaelis frowned and closed his eyes.
"It can't be helped. It's delicious, and I'm hungry."
Michaelis cursed internally. He doesn't have any energy to even move his fingers right now. The lack of blood makes him drowsy and sleepy.
"I'll heal you and..."
Michaelis didn't hear anything anymore and was consumed by sleepiness.
"Hey, did you hear what I said?"
Leviathan nudged Michaelis' body.
"Ha, maybe I should hold back just now. Tsk, I hope kiddo won't hate me."
'I lied to you after all.'
He laid Michaelis down on the bed after he finished healing the white-haired boy. He is sure that Michaelis saw right through his lie but never questioned it. Leviathan smirked at the attentiveness of this boy.
"I should go back to hunt them down."
Leviathan disappeared from the room like always, continuing what he had left behind. To gain back what should be his.
