Chapter 68 - 68

This wasn't just any necklace.

This was a piece of haute jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels, made to the client's specifications. It had taken nearly a year to assemble: a parrot whose plumage consisted of delicate matched emeralds in a Mystery setting, with no gaps or setting prongs visible between the stones, just a mosaic of gem-feathers. Even sourcing the emeralds to achieve that gradation of color took months. The eye was a giant topaz of a profound yellow, and the whole piece was set on a diamond choker worked in a pattern of vines.
