Chapter 19 : News
Emerging from his nap, Yevan felt a renewed sense of energy and clarity. He stretched his body, allowing his muscles to loosen up after the rest. As he moved, he found himself still mulling over the events of the day, including his encounter with Sarah. He couldn't deny the intrigue he felt, and yet he also understood the little complexities of their situations.
With a little yawn, he decided to temporarily set aside those thoughts and focus on something that had always brought him a sense of adventure and ambition – the virtual world of the game. Yevan made his way to his gaming cabinet, his fingers deftly navigating the controls.
As the digital world unfolded before him, he felt a familiar rush of excitement. The screen flickered to life, and he found himself once again in the fantastical realm he had come to know so well. His in-game character, Rylan, stood ready for action.
The transition from reality to the virtual realm was seamless, and Yevan relished the feeling of stepping into a world of endless possibilities. He glanced at the notifications, messages, and updates that greeted him upon logging in, acknowledging the ongoing activities and events within the game.
Before immersing himself in the virtual world, Yevan took a moment to catch up on the latest news and events that were taking place within the game. He navigated to the in-game news section, where various updates and announcements were posted for the players to see. These news pieces provided insights into the dynamic and ever-evolving environment of the game.
As he scrolled through the updates, Yevan's curiosity was piqued by some the headlines and summaries that appeared on the screen.
...
A powerful and elusive world boss known as "Eldragor the Infernal" had emerged in a remote region called Serene Spring. Players from across territories were banding together to form raid parties in an attempt to challenge this formidable adversary. The event promised rich rewards for those who managed to defeat the boss.
...
A legendary weapon called the "Sword of Radiance" was discovered by a player who had delved deep into an uncharted dungeon. The sword's attributes were detailed in the article, which made a lot of the players envious. Some players speculated about the potential strategies and builds that could be enhanced by wielding such a powerful weapon.
...
Valiant Wave Guild and Wreaking Havoc Guild were at war at each other. Skirmishes had been going on for a while, and it seemed that the two guilds were preparing for a big battle very soon.
...
The first 2 news were big news that scaled on a macro level. Only, the information regarding the two of them told that they were far from where Rylan was at. The game world was really spacious and vast after all. Rylan would still be able to go to the 2 places, but for what? He would probably lost all chances to take some advantages by the time he got there, and for the second, snatching a Legendary weapon was not easy at all.
Especially when his level was still low, as his level was comparable to the new players even though he had been playing this game for years.
But the third news piqued his interest more. Yevan's attention was drawn to the news article detailing the ongoing guild war between two prominent factions: the Valiant Wave and Wreaking Havoc. These two guilds, known for their strategic prowess and skilled members, had ignited a fierce rivalry that had captured the attention of players in the vicinity.
It was because Rylan was around the vicinity of these two guilds!
These two guilds were strong in the eyes of the new players. Valiant Wave was a guild known for their unyielding dedication to battle. With a thirst for combat and a reputation for never backing down, they were considered true battle maniacs. Led by their charismatic and strategic leader, Kaelin Stormblade, Valiant Wave had established themselves as a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
Wreaking Havoc was a guild with a dark and enigmatic aura. Their members were skilled in the arts of stealth and sabotage, making them a force to fear in both open conflicts and covert operations. Under the leadership of the enigmatic shadowmaster known as Nethril Nightshade, Wreaking Havoc aimed to spread chaos and disrupt the established order.
The ongoing conflict between Valiant Wave and Wreaking Havoc had reached new heights as they vied for control over key territories, valuable resources, and strategic strongholds within the game world. Both guilds had demonstrated exceptional teamwork, strategy, and skill, which had led to a series of intense battles and shifting allegiances.
Players were closely following the developments of this epic clash, as the outcome of the war would undoubtedly impact the game's landscape and the balance of power among the various factions. The rivalry between Valiant Wave and Wreaking Havoc had sparked a renewed sense of competition and excitement in the player community, driving them to align themselves with one of the guilds or spectate the battles from the sidelines.
Because Yevan was preoccupied with the clue regarding Weaver class before, he couldn't really pay any mind to the other players. But now that he got the class already, he was free, so he decided to see first cause he wanted to see the war too.
As he navigated through the bustling virtual city, he could sense the heightened tension in the air, and the streets were abuzz with discussions about the ongoing conflict.
As he arrived at a central plaza, Yevan saw a group of players huddled together, engaged in animated conversations about the latest battles and strategies employed by the two guilds. Some players were passionately discussing the strengths and weaknesses of each faction, while others were sharing rumors and speculations about potential alliances and betrayals.
Approaching the gathering, Yevan couldn't help but overhear snippets of conversations:
"Did you hear about the surprise attack Wreaking Havoc launched last night? They managed to infiltrate Valiant Wave's main fortress and seize a significant portion of their resources."
"Yeah, but Valiant Wave retaliated with a counterattack this morning. They reclaimed the territory and inflicted heavy losses on Wreaking Havoc. It's a back-and-forth struggle."
"I heard Nethril Nightshade, the leader of Wreaking Havoc, is planning something big. Some say he's been gathering support from other rogue guilds."
"And Kaelin Stormblade from Valiant Wave? He's known for his strategic genius. If anyone can turn the tide of this war, it's him."
Amid the conversations, Yevan noticed that a nearby notice board was filled with recruitment posters and messages from various guilds. Some were seeking skilled players to bolster their ranks for the ongoing conflict, while others offered lucrative rewards for information about enemy movements and strategies.
As Yevan observed the players' interactions, he considered the potential opportunities presented by the guild war. Engaging in the conflict could provide him with valuable things.
Examining the information available on the overall levels of the Valiant Wave and Wreaking Havoc guilds, Rylan noted that they were relatively new guilds with members at an average level of around 50. The fact that these guilds were comprised mainly of new players indicated that their experience might be somewhat limited compared to more established guilds
The news of bounties placed on members of the rival guilds, Valiant Wave and Wreaking Havoc, had caught Rylan's attention. As he considered the potential rewards, a devious grin crossed his face. The prospect of earning a substantial sum of in-game currency by taking down members of these powerful guilds was enticing.
He knew that engaging in this endeavor wouldn't be without risks. Members of both guilds were likely to be highly skilled players with well-developed characters and strategies. But Rylan had always enjoyed challenges, and he was well aware of his capabilities as a Battle Mage, armed with his unique Lambasting Spear and the Weaver class skills he had acquired.
With his analytical mindset, Rylan began to devise a plan. He decided to gather more information about the specific members who had bounties on their heads. This would involve investigating their strengths, weaknesses, preferred tactics, and the locations they frequented. Rylan was confident that his proficiency in strategic thinking, honed through both his real-world experiences and his gaming prowess, would serve him well in this endeavor.
Rylan also considered the potential repercussions of engaging in such actions. Being targeted by both guilds could lead to dangerous confrontations, ambushes, and possibly even large-scale battles.
"Alright... it seems blood is going to be spilled out pretty soon then, heh." Rylan said with a grin on his face.
