Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Ignition

In the midst of a lush green forest, an ashen battle field stuck out like a sore thumb. As the once raging fire died down around the salamander, it let go of his last defeated opponent. *Fwump* The charred remains dropped to the ground, kicking up ash into the air. There the salamander stood, amongst the dozens of charred corpses. Exhausted from it's never ending battles, the salamanders chest heaved up and down. Although the salamander's original goal was Ren, it's battered body couldn't even lift its head to look at him.

"Well, well, well... Whats wrong? I feel kind of cold right now, mind heating the surroundings again?"

Ren smirked smugly, observing the injuries on the salamander, it didn't look like it was going to live any longer. It's left eye was gouged out, but the salamander cauterized the wound. All over its body was scratches and bites, some were cauterized, most bled black blood. The salamander itself was breathing heavily, it's originally scorching breath was now barely warm.

"Let me put you out of your misery."

White aura covered Ren's right arm, forming a tigers claw. Clenching his fist tight, Ren struck hard and fast, piercing through the salamanders head. *Squelch* As the salamanders blood and brain matter splattered onto the surroundings, it stopped it's laboured breathing. *Fwump* As the salamander dropped to the ground, Ren pulled out his fist, taking a step back.

"Now where is this ability stone..."

Flipping the salamander onto its back, Ren carefully looked for the ability stone. After confirming it isn't on the surface, Ren took out his knife, slicing the stomach of the salamander open. *squelch, squish* Reaching his arms inside the salamander, Ren noticed an orange glint near the heart.

"Aha."

As Ren took hold of the orange stone, he ripped it out of the heart, exposing it to the sunlight outside. Ren inspected the orange stone in his hand, it was perfectly spherical, glowing faintly in Ren's hand.

"Should I take this? Wouldn't it interfere with shadow jump?"

Scrunching his eyebrows together, Ren weighed the pros and cons of this ability. On one hand, he's already confirmed it's strength, the surrounding battle field serves as a reminder. But on the flip side, he cannot use shadow jump while this ability is active, meaning he won't be as mobile. Ren couldn't decide, the pros and cons are equal in this situation. So for the tie breaker, Ren looked for King.

'What do you think, this affects you too.'

As King looked at the surrounding destruction, he replied to Ren's question without hesitation.

'Use it, we lack this kind of non physical power. We can have a frontal assault option, as well as a high mobility option.'

Ren nodded in agreement, he understood the logic behind King's decision. Seeing that the choice was made, Ren wiped the orange orb with his shirt, then popped it into his mouth. Rolling the slightly spicy orb in his mouth, Ren sat down, waiting to black out.

"Here we go again..."

As Ren's eyes glowed orange, his consciousness faded to black. *Fwump* Falling backwards into the ash, Ren laid amidst the corpses. Feeling used to this now, King assumed his normal position, keeping an eye out for Ren. Minutes pass by, and nothing exciting happened. King kept watch diligently, and was pleasantly surprised when Ren showed movement so soon.

"GASP!!"

Ren's eyelid shot open, and he sat up as fast as possible. King looked at the familiar reaction with disinterest, ignoring Ren's slight panic. When Ren confirmed his surroundings, he calmed down.

"That wasn't so bad, but we have a new issue King."

King's eye slowly opened in curiosity, this hasn't happened before. As King sat up to face Ren, he waited for Ren to deliver some bad news. Ren looked at King with a serious expression, worry was apparent in his eyes, causing King to feel uneasy too.

"My clothes burn off when I use this ability."

King immediately laid down, ignoring Ren's repeated calls.

"Tch."

Seeing that he's being ignored, Ren gave up on King helping. It made sense that King didn't care about his issue, he's a tiger, he doesn't wear clothes. But that logic doesn't apply to Ren, he didn't want to flash his opponent every time. Resting his chin in his hand, Ren tried to come up with a solution.

"I'm fire proof due to this skill, so maybe...?"

Shifting his attention onto the dead salamander, Ren took out a lighter. *Click* As the fire flickered into existence, Ren made a small camp fire, then he threw a small piece of the salamander into the fire.

"Let's collect my points first, then I'll come back and see if that piece of skin is burnt or not."
