Chapter 28 - Special Request, Materials and New Home

The Monk was a bit taken aback by the Master Blacksmith's eagerness. But it seemed to be tied to the fact that he had noticed the number on the bills that the Monk had been waving around.

It was understandable in that case. Each bill was able to withdraw 1 million gold taels from the bank, they were the type that a king or the largest Noble Clan Heads would see.

'Amitabha, of course, someone that has not reached enlightenment like I have would be swayed easily by this considerable wealth...'

The Monk truly felt thankful at that moment, thankful for the riches of the world and their lack of sway on him, and thankful for Brother Ren's piss, which had given him the means to show off in such a way.

"So, what weapons do you need, and do you have any materials prepared?" Mo Feng immediately asked for details about the order despite being dismissive earlier.

He was confident that he could build just about anything with the right materials and funds, it was just a matter of whether or not Mo Yangling had those.

"Amitabha, I do not have any materials prepared. As for what I want... I wish for some durable and high-quality prayer beads and a flexible staff."

The monk brought his hands together with a hum as he remembered the main weapon he used as a monk. The Staff...

A weapon that was oftentimes overlooked due to its lack of lethal capacity compared to a Spear or Halberd, but in the right hands, the monk found it just as deadly.

"... So you want to pay 50 million gold taels for a nice stick and some beads? Also, I'll need an illustration for the prayer beads, I've not done something like that before.

I'm assuming it's similar to a pearl necklace but with bigger metallic beads instead of, well, pearls."

Mo Feng seemed to be taken aback by the simplicity of the request, but at the same time he was not going to police how the Monk spent money, he was just curious.

"Getting a reliable weapon that I can use in the future is important, Senior Feng. I need both praying instruments to be relics in essence."

The Monk smiled as he scratched his beardless chin.

"Praying instruments?!? Kid, I craft weapons!" Mo Feng felt a bit weird, he wanted to point at the sign on the door, which was an X formed by a sword and a spear.

"Amitabha, this gracious man is peaceful! Violence under the heavens is unfortunately still prevalent, but I shall remain steadfast in my beliefs!" Mo Yangling brought his hands together in prayer as he spoke out, it felt as if the sun was shining from his back.

But Mo Feng was more focused on the blood that was staining his robes than the grand platitudes he was spouting.

'Peaceful my old and hairy ass!'

But he wasn't about to say that out loud. Not when he was faced with a customer who had such deep pockets.

To Mo Feng, it didn't matter that Mo Yangling was the 'disgraced son' of the Clan Head, it didn't matter that he was technically still banished from the Mo Clan.

What mattered most was the payment, and Mo Yangling had already shown that he had the means to pay.

"Yeah yeah, whatever, you're both virtuous and peaceful. Hell, as long as you pay me enough you can be god for all I care... Fine, I'll craft you your 'prayer instruments'..."

Mo Feng slowly turned around to look at his forge, in which he was currently smelting some materials for another weapon.

"Remember, I need them to be relics, tools I can use for decades."

"Well, they would be relics regardless if I am the one crafting them. But Materials are also important... I need a base material and some auxiliaries.

I can get auxiliaries on the market easily, but a good base material is what makes or breaks a relic.

With a high-quality material, I can make you a treasure to last a lifetime."

The Master Blacksmith looked at the many shelves that littered his hall.

He had many artefacts and pieces of Demonic Beasts that he could use, but there were none that he felt matched the price point that the monk had given him.

'He's offering too much for me to use such low-quality materials...'

At the end of the day, his pride as a renowned master blacksmith and merchant were also on the line. He wasn't willing to just scam such a high-paying customer, even if he was their Mo Family's 'Prodigal Son'.

Mo Feng never cared about those rumours anyway. And the man that stood in front of him was nothing like the rumours anyway...

"Hmm, I see. Thank you for the information, in that case, I will go into the Chen Lu Forest and look for something decent..." Mo Yangling sighed as he realized that he now had to go back into the forest.

'Well, at least I get to hunt down one of those three bastards... I bet I can get decent materials from them!'

"That's a dangerous undertaking young man... But you ought to wait for the Grand Family Gathering first, it's tonight anyway..." Mo Feng took a huff out of his pipe and breathed out with a smile on his face.

"Tonight?! Amitabha, that's annoying... I don't even have any clean clothes!"

Mo Yangling felt discouraged when looking down at his dirty clothes. He had already been training in them for a few days, they were covered in dust, grime, and Mo Qiao's blood...

Mo Feng looked at him in confusion for a moment.

"Kid, you have more disposable income than the Clan Head... You can buy yourself a wardrobe with one of those bills you waved in front of me."

"... Good point, Blacksmith Master Feng is really wise! I shall take my leave then, I'll come back when I have the material in question."

Before turning to leave, the Monk took out 25 bills and handed them to the Blacksmith.

"Here, a deposit so that my order is taken seriously in the meantime. You can gather any auxiliary materials that would match a high-quality main material."

When seeing that stack of bills, the Blacksmith smiled widely.

"Hehe~ I like how you do business kid! Fine, I'll wait for you to bring a Main Material. Just watch your back out in the wilds, don't want you dying to some beasts!"

"Om, I appreciate your worry, old man. But worry not, I know those woods quite well, I will be safe."

The monk smiled before turning to leave. He closed the door behind him as he started descending Blacksmith's Pagoda.

Mo Feng also smiled as he counted the money he had just received.

"Hehe- This Mo Yangling guy seems quite capable now... I can't wait to hear what he pulls off later tonight."

The Monk's next stop was, of course, back at the Golden Providence Pavilion, where he grabbed some clothes and realized that he had no real place to store them.

'Amitabha, this Mo Weishang really is a cruel man, he hasn't even offered a place to sleep to his oldest son who has just returned home... At this point, I may as well buy myself a home instead...'

So, with the help of the same Golden Providence Merchant Group Elder Gong Gen that had tended to him prior, the Monk immediately acquired a mansion on the middle ring of the Captial City.

He was living right beside some other elders of the Merchant Group, as well as some other smaller noble families.

It was plopped on a 500 meters square, piece of land right near the innermost wall.

The Mansion was complete with a large courtyard, a pond, small private training grounds and even

The mansion itself was not the largest available, but it was at least pretty cheap, costing only around 15 Million Gold Taels.

Of course, it was only cheap to the Monk, not even the Great Families could afford to throw out that much money at once for just one property, but that was beside the point.

The Elder of the Golden Providence Pavillion seemed quite confused at Mo Yangling's purchases, but he decided not to dwell on it too much.

At the end of the day, Mo Yangling was still an underachiever in his eyes, someone who was bound not to make it too far in life.

'I guess his family refused to take him back, so he's decided to just live the rest of his life comfortably with the money he earned... Well, good on him. Shame, but good on him.'

The Elder was not one to butt his nose into someone else's business anyway.

He also assisted the Monk in purchasing an entire wardrobe to fill out his new walk-in closet.

That was all achieved in under 4 hours, as money made the world move quickly, and the Golden Providence Group was very influential within the Guozhi Kingdom, and all of its neighbours.

So, by afternoon, the monk was happily sitting on a large and comfortable chair in front of his pond, whistling and smiling.

'Ah, it is good to have my own place... All that's left is to get some maids and attendants, but I can handle that later.

For now, I should get ready for this 'Grand Family Gathering'...'
