From the memories of the cultists, Jon obtained some relevant information, some of which were not mentioned in the movies.
It turns out that in the setting of the movie, the church is divided into two factions. One of them is the conservative faction that appeared in the first part of the movie. The leader of this faction is the high priestess, Christabella, a woman whose fervent belief in her cause was as unyielding as the ancient stones of the church she commanded. She insists that Alessa, who possesses extraordinary powers, is a demon and thus stops at nothing to expel her. It can be said that they are the culprits behind turning Silent Hill into what it is now.
The other faction is the Order faction that appeared in the second part of the movie, led by the priestess Claudia, the woman Jon had encountered before. Claudia's vision of a holy descent contrasted starkly with Christabella's dogmatic ruthlessness, painting a complex picture of faith divided.
In the movie setting, Claudia believes that Alessa is a rare holy body, through whom the god they worship could descend, but the current Alessa is incomplete because half of her soul, representing her kindness, namely Sharon, has been separated and is outside Silent Hill. Thus, Alessa is not complete, and only when she is whole can the descent be performed.
Therefore, Claudia did not appear in the first movie because she also wanted to bring Sharon back and merge her with Alessa, making her complete so that she could proceed with their holy goal, the God's descent.
Claudia thought that Alessa enticing Sharon to return to Silent Hill was to make herself complete, but she miscalculated. Alessa never intended to make herself complete; she only wanted to seek revenge on the conservatives. Thus, in the final scene of the movie, Alessa possesses Rose and enters the holy land of the conservative church, massacring all its members.
However, from the memories of the cultists, Jon obtained a crucial piece of information: the location of Alessa.
Indeed, every cultist knows where Alessa is, the existence they all fear, but they dare not go there because to go is to seek death.
But this information was crucial for Jon. Knowing Alessa's location means he can directly go there and kill Alessa, ending everything.
"Good, but just to be safe, I should visit the church first." Jon decided, his voice a mix of determination and an underlying turmoil that hinted at the weight of his mission.
Now, he also knew the location of the conservative church. He went there because he knew the conservatives were likely also looking for Sharon. In the end of the movie, Sharon was almost burned to death by the conservatives because they believed Sharon, looking like Alessa, was of the same root as the demon.
Jon did not want a girl purer than anyone to be burned alive by a bunch of sinners, so he decided to visit the church first.
Meanwhile, in the conservative church, as Jon predicted, the conservatives had found Sharon, and at the same time, they had captured Alessa's mother.
A large crowd surrounded Sharon and Alessa's mother. At this moment, Sharon did not understand what was happening, her helpless eyes looking around, but it seemed everyone was looking at her with hatred and fear. The air was thick with the scent of fear and the musty, ancient smell of the church's stone walls.
"Burn her, the demon, burn her!" Everyone looked at Sharon with vicious eyes, their shouts echoing off the high, vaulted ceilings, creating a cacophony of hatred that seemed to penetrate the very soul.
She did not know what she had done wrong, why these people wanted to do this to her, why they wanted to burn her, and her only support, her mother, was not by her side.
At this moment, the crazed cultists piled up firewood in the center of the church and poured oil inside, preparing to burn Sharon alive. The sharp, acrid scent of the oil filled the air, a prelude to the horror that was to unfold.
"Please, Christabella, give her a chance to live!" Alessa's mother was held down by the cultists, her voice a desperate plea amidst the growing frenzy.
Christabella, an ugly and rigid middle-aged woman, coldly watched everything unfold. Her eyes, cold and unyielding, reflected the flickering candlelight, casting long shadows across her features.
She looked at Alessa's mother with a sharp and harsh tone: "Your weakness has implicated those innocent souls. You deserve to witness all of this!"
"She is the innocent one!" Alessa's mother shouted, her voice a beacon of truth in the midst of madness.
Christabella looked at Sharon with a fierce tone: "Look at her, your daughter's cursed seed!" Then she turned to her followers and shouted: "Demon!"
At her words, the people shouted indignantly, calling for her to be burned. The collective fury of the crowd was a palpable force, pressing down on the air with the weight of impending doom.
"The demon uses her child to breed sin!" Christabella shouted, her voice echoing through the vast, shadowy expanse of the church, where the light from the stained glass windows painted the scene in an eerie, judgmental light.
"Nooo, she is not…!"
Alessa's mother struggled to shout, but before she could finish, a crazed cultist picked up a stick and smashed it on her head, causing blood to flow. The sound of the impact was a sickening thud that resonated with the finality of dashed hopes. The sight of blood mingling with the dust on the floor was a stark, chilling reminder of the brutality of misguided faith.
Seeing this madness, Sharon became even more frightened, desperately struggling to escape. Her small form, bathed in the multicolored light filtering through the stained glass, seemed ethereally out of place among the chaos.
Bang!
However, at that moment, the church doors were suddenly opened with a deafening bang sound. The sudden intrusion of natural light and the silhouette of a man at the entrance momentarily stilled the mob, casting a long shadow that seemed to slice through the tension.
Everyone looked towards the door. A young man dressed in a black leather jacket and wrapped in heavy chains stood at the entrance. The chains around him clinked with a sound that was almost musical, a stark contrast to the screams and shouts of the mob. They seemed to symbolize not just the weight of his past actions but also a readiness to confront whatever lay ahead.
Christabella's expression darkened, and she said, "This is a holy place, a sanctuary. We welcome anyone who seeks refuge, but not intruders. Do you know what sacred ground you have entered?"
"Holy? Sacred?" Jon smirked and stepped inside, his boots echoing on the stone floor, each step resonating like a challenge to the charged silence that had fallen over the crowd.
"What is holy? What is sin? none of you have the right to judge. And there is only one person who has the right to do so here~!" Jon scanned the cultists, facing the hundreds gathered without showing any fear, instead imparting a heavy sense of oppression on them.
"And that is me~!"
As soon as his words fell, Jon's eyes ignited with fire, and immediately, the cultist who had struck Alessa's mother with a stick burst into flames, screaming agonizingly. The fire was not just a physical manifestation but seemed to burn with a righteousness that was in stark contrast to the darkness of the mob's intentions.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh!"
"Mooooove!"
"Water?!"
The surrounding cultists quickly grabbed buckets of water trying to extinguish the fire, but hellfire is not something that can be quenched by any ordinary means. The flames did not subside in the slightest, instead growing more intense, eventually burning the cultist alive. The futile attempts of the cultists to douse the flames added to the chaos, their panic a sharp counterpoint to Jon's calm demeanor.
Seeing this, everyone showed an extremely terrified expression, their eyes unsettled. But when Sharon saw Jon, she did not show any fear; instead, she took advantage of the moment when those holding her were distracted, broke free, and ran towards Jon.
Sharon hid behind Jon, then clung tightly to him. Her action was a silent testament to the instinctive trust she placed in him, a beacon of hope in the midst of despair.
"Demon!" Christabella pointed at Jon with trembling fingers. "The unquenchable fire of hell, relied upon by the demon's spawn, you are the true embodiment of the demon!"
Jon smiled, almost mockingly, "That's curious, didn't you just say Alessa was the demon? How did it become me?"
"A demon is not limited to one!" Christabella retorted, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and defiance. "Demon, this is the great church, a place sheltered by God, not somewhere you belong!"
Jon shrugged, smiling slightly, "Indeed, I am a devil, but what can the so-called God of yours do to me~?"
The question hung in the air, a challenge that echoed through the silence of the church, leaving a profound impact on all who heard it. It was not just a defiance of Christabella and her followers but a questioning of the very foundations of their beliefs.
