Chapter 163 - Chapter 161: Alessa's Mother

With a loud clash, the great sword descended, only to be met by another metal object. Jon quickly reacted, releasing his chain to block the heavy strike. Almost instantly, a blaze of hellfire engulfed Jon's body, his skin starting to vanish as he transformed into the formidable Ghost Rider.

Launching a powerful kick at Pyramid Head's abdomen, the Ghost Rider forced his adversary to stagger back. Not missing a beat, he manipulated the chain, now a blazing whip of fire, and with a graceful leap, spun in the air. The fiery chain lashed out towards Pyramid Head like a scorching serpent.

However, what happened next caught the Ghost Rider off guard. Instead of reducing Pyramid Head to ashes as anticipated, the fiery chain merely wrapped around him. It scorched his skin, causing visible burns, but it didn't deliver a fatal blow.

Undeterred, the Ghost Rider unleashed an even greater torrent of hellfire, completely engulfing Pyramid Head in a fiery inferno. The air was filled with his tormented roars until the flames consumed him entirely.

As the flames dissipated, the Ghost Rider reverted back to Jon. The silence was unsettling—no system prompts, no legendary quests refreshed, no penalty points available. Jon considered two possibilities: either Pyramid Head, like the previous creatures, was merely a prop created by Alessa, devoid of life, or he had somehow survived the hellfire.

Despite his skepticism towards Pyramid Head's survival, Jon couldn't completely dismiss the idea. "It seems that Silent Hill... will be a confusing journey," Jon sighed, pondering the strange nature of this place.

Suddenly, the oppressive darkness around him began to lift, and the creatures that had swarmed him started to vanish. Ashes fluttered down from the sky, and the fog began to thicken once more, signaling the end of the nightmarish episode.

The world around Jon transformed back into its daytime guise—a desolate expanse covered in white ash, with the ever-present fog of Silent Hill obscuring the path ahead. The town, now visible in the light, appeared abandoned, its streets lined with empty shops and a few derelict cars.

Just as Jon was about to press on, he sensed a presence behind him. A voice, emanating from the shrouded figure, broke the silence. "The entrance to Silent Hill is governed by the Darkness. Now that you're here, leaving might not be so easy."

Jon faced the source of the voice and saw a middle-aged woman standing before him, her clothes worn and threadbare. Her skin was ashen, and her long hair was matted and unkempt, suggesting it hadn't seen a comb in ages.

"Young man, this is a place tainted by sin and corruption. What brings you to such a forsaken place?" she inquired slowly, her voice echoing a profound sadness.

"And what about you? Why do you remain here?" Jon countered, his tone equally inquisitive.

"I've always been here... and here, I lost my daughter," she replied, a veil of sorrow in her voice. "After her loss, my existence turned bleak, devoid of joy. They tricked me, fueled by sin and hate; they targeted my child, abused her..." Her voice trailed off into a whisper, her gaze distant, as if she were lost in her nightmarish memories.

Jon, however, grasped the depth of her words, understanding the tragedy she alluded to. "Your daughter, Alessa, she's the reason behind all of this, isn't she?" he said, his voice calm but firm.

The woman before him, who seemed almost lost to madness, was indeed Alessa's mother. This explained her ability to roam freely in this twisted world, safeguarded by Alessa's influence. In a tragic sense, she was a beacon of light in Alessa's dark existence, her sole source of comfort. Despite Alessa's transformation into a demonic entity, she would never harm her mother.

At Jon's acknowledgment, the woman staggered back, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and disbelief. "How... how do you know of this? Are you one of them?" she stammered, retreating with every word.

"Them? You mean the church? Far from it," Jon assured her, his demeanor still collected. "But I am here with a purpose you might find unsettling. I've come to end your daughter's suffering."

Contrary to his expectations, the woman didn't react with hostility. Instead, she seemed to find a somber acceptance in his words. With a heavy sigh, she spoke, "If you possess the strength to do so... then let it be. It may be the only release for her."

With those final words, she turned and walked away, her figure gradually swallowed by the fog, leaving Jon to contemplate the gravity of his mission.

As he watched her disappear, Jon couldn't help but feel a complex mix of emotions. He knew the story well—Alessa's mother had already endured the agony of watching her daughter consumed by flames, a horror she was powerless to prevent. And now, she faced the possibility of Alessa's death anew, a burden no parent should bear. Yet, in Silent Hill, amidst its ghastly residents and nightmarish realities, a mother's love for her child drove her to confront even the most harrowing of truths.

There was a deep, unsettling realization in Jon's heart: Alessa's transgressions had escalated beyond the point of forgiveness. The darkness she spread was too vast, too consuming. And to rescue Snow, an innocent caught in this twisted nightmare, Alessa—the root of this pervasive evil—had to be stopped.

His contemplation was shattered by the sudden echo of gunfire, slicing through the oppressive silence of Silent Hill. "Fuck, die, you damn monster!" A woman's voice, fierce and desperate, called out.

Driven by instinct, Jon sprinted towards the source of the commotion. He arrived just in time to see a writhing mass of flesh, a creature of nightmares, menacing a policewoman. She stood her ground, clad in her uniform and helmet, weapon in hand.

Bang, bang! She fired, each shot puncturing the monster, leaving gaping wounds. Yet, the creature's blood was like acid, corroding her helmet and uniform upon contact. With quick thinking, she shed the compromised gear.

Underneath, the policewoman's resolve was laid bare, her blonde hair a stark contrast to the darkness around her. She wasn't the type to falter or scream; instead, she met the monster's advance with calculated bravery, pulling the trigger again and again.

Bang! Bang! More shots rang out, each one hitting its mark yet failing to stop the beast's unnatural movements. It became clear that only a headshot would suffice. As she reloaded and took aim, the fatal shot came.

Bang!

The monster's head exploded in a grotesque display, its remains scattering. The policewoman stared, bewildered—not by her action, but because the lethal bullet hadn't come from her gun. And indeed, the force of it was unlike anything a standard bullet could achieve.

Turning, she caught sight of Jon, a pale young man with a distinctive weapon in hand. It was clear he was the one who had fired the shot, another stranger amidst this hell.
