After resting for a while inside the suitcase, Jon emerged from the suitcase as the sun had already risen. He put his suitcase into the system space pocket and continued on his journey. Before long, he passed a field.
The owner of the field was farming under the scorching sun, and a young girl was picking crops nearby. Jon stopped and took the initiative to ask, "Ojisan, how do I get to Yinyu Village?"
The man suddenly paused, then looked at Jon with a hint of surprise. The girl who was picking crops immediately turned around and said to Jon, "Don't go to that village, please don't."
However, the old man suddenly stepped forward to cover the girl's mouth, then smiled at Jon, "You want to go to Yinyu Village? Just keep going in that direction!"
He said, pointing Jon in the right direction. Jon didn't mind their unusual behavior. On the contrary, it confirmed his suspicion that something was wrong with the village.
After thanking them, Jon headed in the direction without looking back. Once he left, the girl angrily said to the old man, "Father, why didn't you stop him? He will be sacrificed by those villagers!"
"Have you lost your mind?" The old man sternly said, "Don't forget that the Mist God can hear you. Do you want to anger him? Our task is to lure outsiders into the village. Now that one has come willingly, you want to drive him away? If you anger the Mist God, you'll be the next sacrifice!"
"I've had enough!" The girl lowered her head, choking back tears.
"What did you say?" The old man sternly asked.
"I said I've had enough!" The girl shouted, "That so-called Mist God is just a man-eating demon. We should go to the town and find a swordsman who can kill demons, even if it costs us a bit more."
The old man immediately warned her in a hushed voice, "Don't say such things. If the Mist God hears us, we'll all die!"
Jon, expressionless, continued walking. His senses, enhanced by the Book of Darkhold, allowed him to hear the argument between the father and daughter. A faint smile appeared on his lips.
As he continued forward, he could faintly smell the scent of sin permeating the air. He followed the scent and soon, a faint mist began to appear in the air.
The further he went, the thicker the mist became. Before long, the mist had completely enveloped the surroundings, making it impossible to see his hand in front of his face.
"Mist God." Jon muttered to himself. From the argument between the father and daughter, he learned that the deity worshipped by the village was called the Mist God.
"It must be some kind of Blood Demon Art," Jon thought to himself, then sighed, "It's a pretty good ability. Too bad I can't absorb it and make it my own."
When he had killed the Swamp demon earlier, he found that his legendary mission had been updated. He had also gained the demon's memories, but not its abilities. This meant that abilities gained through evolution and released through blood, like blood demon arts, couldn't be absorbed. At least this was his conclusion for now.
Jon felt like he had lost out. After all, many blood demon arts were very practical.
Just then, Jon suddenly stopped and squinted at something in front of him. An eerie silhouette was faintly visible in the distance.
The figure was slowly floating in the air, its tattered clothes fluttering like a ghost. As the ghost approached, Jon calmly pulled out his chain. Suddenly, the ghost let out a roar and lunged at Jon, revealing its terrifying face.
The creature had dry, long hair, and beneath it was not a face, but a large mouth full of fangs. Its thick, round tongue wriggled like a worm.
"There's no sense of sin, not even a hint of life, and it's not afraid of sunlight. Is this a creature created by a blood demon art?" Jon thought to himself, "But to create a creature with a blood demon art, it must be at least one of the Twelve Demon Moons!"
With this thought, Jon couldn't help but feel excited.
As the creature lunged at Jon, he calmly sidestepped and controlled his chain to fly out, piercing through the creature's chest.
However, Jon felt as if his chain hadn't hit anything. After it passed through the creature's chest and was pulled back, a small hole briefly appeared on the its body before quickly healing.
Jon frowned slightly and swung his chain again. It passed through the creature's body, causing it to sway slightly before continuing to float towards Jon.
"Is its body made of condensed Mist?" Jon thought, pulling his chain back and preparing to attach the Hellfire.
Just then, Jon heard light footsteps coming from behind him. "That's... the direction of the village?" Jon wondered aloud. He wasn't worried about the creature suddenly attacking him. Or rather, Jon didn't consider the creature a threat at all.
A slender figure was running towards him through the Mist. She tightly gripped the sword at her waist and then leaped into the air. Her target was the creature in front of Jon.
"Love Breathing. First Form. Shivers of First Love!"
In an instant, her slender arm drew the sword from her waist, creating a pink blade light that whipped the creature like a mad whip. The creature let out a series of screams before dissipating into a cloud of Mist.
After defeating the creature, the girl let out a sigh of relief and turned to Jon, "Thank goodness I made it in time! Are you okay? It didn't hurt you, did it?"
Jon looked at her for a moment, his enhanced senses allowing him to see the girl clearly even in the Mist. She was a very sweet and cute girl with large, light green eyes. Her cheeks were slightly red, and there was a mole under each eye. She had three pink braids, but the tips of her hair were grass green.
She was wearing a white feather weave, and her chest was... exposed.
One of the Nine Pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps, Love Pillar Kanroji Mitsuri.
"Pillar" is a title representing the highest combat power of the Demon Slayer Corps, corresponding to the Twelve Demon Moons of the demons. The current Demon Slayer Corps has nine Pillars, and the Love Pillar in front of him is one of them.
Before Jon could respond, Mitsuri noticed the chain in his hand and seemed to realize something. She quickly said, "Ah, I get it! You're also a swordsman from the Demon Slayer Corps, right? Judging by your weapon, you must be studying the Breath of Stone! Is that why you didn't run when you saw the demon, because you were confronting it? You're so brave, you could definitely become the next Stone Pillar! Gyomei, that big oaf, has such a cute successor. I'm so jealous!"
