Chapter 3 - Ch 3: The Spirit of Vengeance

The trio brandished their wands, nudging Jon ahead of them with a sense of caution. Jon, however, strolled leisurely, guiding them into a deserted alleyway.

Upon realizing that Jon had willingly led them to a secluded location, a ripple of laughter echoed among the three. "What's your game, lad? Do you reckon we'll let you off the hook after a good beating?" one of them taunted.

Another sneered, "Or perhaps the Mudblood fancies his chances against the three of us?" Their laughter filled the alley once more.

"What spell should we use for our amusement? The Cruciatus Curse, perhaps?" Gibbon suggested with a cruel smirk on his face.

"Are you crazy, Gibbon?! Do you fancy a stint in Azkaban? That's an Unforgivable Curse!! If the Aurors catch wind of it, you can kiss your freedom goodbye!"

"But I reckon this lad won't squeal!"

"In that case, the Imperius Curse could be entertaining. Imagine him eating mud. Quite fitting for a Mudblood, don't you think?"

"Enough!" Jon's voice, barely above a whisper, cut through their laughter.

The trio fell silent, their attention drawn to Jon. Gibbon frowned, unsure if it was a trick of the mind, but Jon's voice seemed to have deepened.

"What did you say?" one of them snapped, irritation lacing his words.

"Your incessant chatter is annoying. Do you really believe I'm an easy target?" Jon retorted, spinning around to face them. His eyes, ablaze with an inner fire, caused their expressions to shift.

"I've recently acquired this power, and I've yet to test it. You three will serve as perfect guinea pigs." As he spoke, Jon's body ignited, his skin glowing like molten iron as he advanced towards them.

"Stop! Don't come any closer!" Gibbon, sensing the imminent danger, backed away, brandishing his wand in a futile attempt to intimidate Jon.

What transpired next left them frozen in shock. Jon's body was engulfed in flames, his flesh searing away to reveal a skeleton wreathed in fire.

The Spirit of Vengeance had made its first appearance!

The sight of the flaming skeleton sent waves of terror through the wizards. "By Merlin's beard! What kind of creature is this?" one of them stammered, retreating in fear.

Jon remained silent, his gaze sweeping over the terrified wizards before advancing towards one of them.

One of the wizards attempted to flee, but Jon's fiery skeletal hand latched onto his collar. Flames engulfed the man, reducing him to ashes within seconds.

"What—!!!" Gibbon stared in disbelief, collapsing to the ground in shock.

After dispatching the first wizard, Jon turned his attention to the second.

"No, don't kill me!" the man pleaded before attempting to escape.

However, as he rounded a corner, he came face to face with Jon's terrifying visage. "Surprise," Jon growled, his skeletal hand closing around the man's neck. Flames spread from Jon's hand, consuming the man until only ashes remained.

Finally, Jon turned his attention to the last wizard standing, Gibbon Campbell.

Despite witnessing the gruesome fate of his companions, Gibbon managed to regain his composure. He carefully placed his wand on the ground, raised his hands in surrender, and took a few steps back.

"Let's calm down, mate!" Gibbon attempted to placate Jon.

Ignoring Gibbon's plea, Jon continued his advance. "Wait, I think there's been a misunderstanding!" Gibbon stammered, revealing a dark mark on his arm.

Upon seeing the mark, Jon halted. He recognized it instantly as the Dark Mark, a symbol of Voldemort's followers.

"The Death Eater's mark," Jon rasped, his voice echoing ominously in the alley.

Gibbon's face lit up with hope. "Yes, we're both dark wizards. My master is the Dark Lord. He's returning soon, and not even Harry Potter can stop him. If you wish, I can introduce you to him. I believe the master will..."

Before Gibbon could finish, Jon resumed his advance. "Every Death Eater is steeped in blood guilt. Your tainted soul will serve as a feast for me!" Jon declared, lifting Gibbon by the collar and pinning him against the wall.

"Look into my eyes..." the Spirit of Vengeance whispered.

Gibbon's struggles ceased as terror gripped him. Reflected in his eyes were the flames of hell, replaying his heinous acts of murder and torture.

"Feel their pain!" Jon commanded.

Gibbon's screams echoed through the alley as his soul was consumed by the hellfire, his sins finally catching up to him.

The Spirit of Vengeance's gaze could judge all sins, and no guilty soul could escape its judgment.

Gibbon's soul was now nothing more than an empty shell, his eyes devoid of life.

[Side mission updated: Eliminate at least three Death Eaters. Current progress: 1/3]

[Legendary mission updated: Punish a thousand sinful souls across the multiverse. Current progress: 1/1000]

Jon heard the system prompt and absorbed Gibbon's memories and a portion of his magic power. " interesting," he mused as the flames around him began to recede, returning him to his human form.

"The rewards of this legendary mission are not mentioned by the system, but it seems this mission will be the most rewarding," Jon thought to himself.

He had returned to his human form, having released the Spirit of Vengeance. Although the system had tasked him with judging a thousand sinful souls, it hadn't specified the reward. However, after eliminating Gibbon, he had gained his memories and some of his magic, a significant boost to his power.

Jon noted that he hadn't received any updates or rewards after killing the other two wizards. Their crimes were minor compared to Gibbon's, and they didn't meet the criteria for the system's requirements.

In the world of Harry Potter, only Voldemort and his Death Eaters could be considered truly sinful. Even maybe many of the prisoners in Azkaban wouldn't meet this criterion.

Jon recalled that Sirius Black had been imprisoned in Azkaban for murder, even though he had been framed. This meant that there was a couple of prisoners in Azkaban were in similar situations.

Completing the legendary mission in the world of Harry Potter alone was impossible. Even with Voldemort and his Death Eaters, there were only about 30 to 40 individuals, far short of a thousand!

"No matter, I'll take my time with this," Jon decided, preparing to leave. He paused, glancing back at Gibbon's lifeless body. "Best to dispose of this to avoid any complications," he muttered, incinerating Gibbon's body with a flick of his flaming wrist.
