We arrived at Rhoda's house and the drinking session began. We settled at the back of the parlor, an extension of Rhoda's residence, where a long table and two benches were arranged on either side. There were six of us present: Raffy and me, along with four parlor girls, including Rhoda.
"Hello, ladies! Here come James and Raffy. What do you think? Aren't they quite handsome?" Rhoda cheerfully greeted everyone.
"Yes, indeed! You're right; they're rather charming!" Ella enthusiastically agreed, stealing a quick glance at Raffy and me.
"I told you they'd have quite an effect on you; you'll be captivated. But mind you, my dear gay friends, looking is allowed, but touching is strictly prohibited," Rhoda added, amused by their reactions.
"Ah, there's plenty of 'okaninay' (money) to flaunt, mmm, wit!" Gie playfully interjected, waving her index finger while showing off her money.
"Ahy! Sorry, I've got some too," Ella chimed in, referring to her stash of money.
Rhoda gestured, "Come, both of you, have a seat beside me for safety."
"Ah, why there? Sit beside me instead. Hahaha, you're pleading like a frog!" RR jokingly disagreed.
"Silly, they're sitting with me to avoid any immediate disturbance. They're my friends, and they know they're safe in my company," Rhoda explained.
After exchanging pleasantries, we indulged in drinks and engaged in introductions and questions.
"Hello! I'm Gie. Where are you gentlemen from?" Gie politely introduced herself.
"Greetings, I'm Raffy, and this is James. We reside nearby, in Tandang Sora, not far from Rhoda's place," Raffy courteously replied.
"I'm RR. May I ask your ages? Raffy, how old are you?" RR inquired, and with a flirty smile, he added, "You're quite adorable, and your eyes are enchanting."
As they conversed, I couldn't help but notice Raffy's undeniable handsomeness. It occurred to me that he no longer needed to do odd jobs, given the numerous admirers among the gay community willing to pay for a chance to experience his company. Envy and a hint of jealousy gnawed at me as I observed the attention he received from others. On the contrary, I preferred my anonymity, as I was rather reserved. Sensing my unease, Raffy discreetly reached under the table and gently held my right hand, providing me with comfort. I smiled, and my countenance brightened. At that moment, I couldn't help but feel assured that, among all present, I held a special place in Raffy's heart. The source of my jealousy remains unclear: was it the attention he received or the attention others bestowed upon him? Despite my confusion, one thing was evident – Raffy's firm grip on my hand, and I fervently hoped he wouldn't let go. Lost in contemplation, I was suddenly interrupted by RR's inquisitive inquiry.
"James, how old are you?" RR asked.
"I'm also 16, we're the same age," I replied.
Gie, with excitement, commented on my appearance, "You know, girls, I'm betting on James. He seems kind and has a very masculine appeal, with his beautiful skin color and handsome looks. Wanna tie him up and devour him helplessly. Can I ask what you both do in your lives? Are you studying?"
"No, we can't afford it because we don't have the means," I explained.
Curious, Gie inquired, "Then what are you doing?"
"We're just doing odd jobs, trying to make a living," I responded.
Expressing admiration, RR exclaimed, "With those handsome looks of yours, plenty of gay guys would gladly support your education."
Ella joined in, "Yes, that's true! But why do you settle for working odd jobs?"
"I prefer earning what I have through hard work. Spending money that I've earned myself feels more satisfying and truly mine," I explained.
Acknowledging my principles, Ella continued, "To be honest, you have a valid point. But do you think that approach will help you achieve your goal of getting an education? It's great to have principles, but you also need to be sure that they'll improve your lives. Also, consider how important education is for an individual. Do you both want to study?"
"Yes, but it's embarrassing now, and we're already adults," I admitted.
Ella encouraged us, "If you truly want to study and improve your lives, you'll find a way, even if it goes against your principles. You need to work hard. Doing odd jobs is respectable work, but think about it. If you spend your whole day doing that, you won't have time left for studying. You need both money and time for education, and that's what you don't have."
Raffy and I pondered over Ella's words. She was right; we lacked the financial means and time to pursue education. It was then that I truly realized the immense value of education in one's life. Our conversation extended, and I noticed that some of us were already drunk, laughing loudly and teasing each other.
Standing up to find a restroom, Raffy asked, "Where's the restroom?"
Ella pointed him in the right direction, "It's over there. When you enter the door, turn left. There you go! Let me accompany you."
As they left, Raffy and I exchanged glances. I couldn't help but wonder why he seemed so happy. My feelings were a mix of emotions, and my heart pounded with a hint of sadness. Nevertheless, I concealed it from everyone, putting on a smile. I turned my attention back to our drinking companions and engaged in conversation again, trying to suppress my emotions.
Raffy's POV
Ella and I made our way to the restroom, feeling the effects of the alcohol we had consumed. As I relieved myself, Ella's hand began caressing my back, a clear indication of her intentions. She leaned in, about to kiss me, but I gently stopped her, expressing that it wasn't allowed.
"Is there someone else who owns those lips?" Ella inquired, her voice tinged with curiosity.
"Yes," I replied, trying to add a touch of humor to the situation. Taking her hand, I guided it to where she really intended to go. "But you can rent this."
Ella seemed intrigued. "How much would that cost?"
"The price is up to you to decide, depending on what you want," I responded, playfully.
Undeterred, Ella continued her advances, and for some reason, I found myself strangely encouraging her actions, driven by a peculiar desire to see her struggle. As her excitement increased, I decided to play along, prolonging the moment until I noticed her discomfort.
Regaining control, I allowed Ella to catch her breath before the playful charade passed. She seemed content with what had happened, and after a short break, she handed me some money.
"Here's your payment," Ella said, her playful tone still evident.
"Thank you, but let's focus on having a good time tonight," I replied, attempting to steer the conversation away from the awkward transaction.
After the encounter, we rejoined the group, trying to immerse ourselves in the laughter and stories that filled the night.
"Wow, you took a long time. Looks like something other than urine came out of you, Raffy," Rhoda teased.
I smiled at Rhoda's remark, and our companions erupted in laughter, except for James, who managed a small smile. We returned to our seats and continued drinking.
