Dumbledore POV
Dumbles-'*sighs* what does an old man have to do to get a peaceful sleep here?'
'This year's sorting was headache on its own. With Harry joining Hogwarts it will be hectic all year around and then on top we have Ansh this year. I really don't know what to do think about the boy. On one hand he has got an amazing drive to explore the mysteries of this world, on the other he has too amazing a drive to explore the mysteries of this world.'
"So calm down Severus and you as well Minerva. I get that Ansh has broken the curfew but since when have we ever expelled a student just for that?" I try to calm down the two in front of me.
'I was sleeping peacefully before these two came. Couldn't they have come with this matter tomorrow. Do they know how hard it is to fall asleep again at my age. Once you're up then that's it, sleep does not grace you until next night.'
"It seems that I wasn't clear in my explanation so let me repeat myself headmaster. The boy didn't just break the curfew, he broke into my potions lab, stole my ingredients and threw a potion at me." Says Snape. With a special emphasis on the last part.
"Not to forget that he has already tried to tear up the sorting hat and burned his whole room. All this within 24 hours of coming here. The boy is a menace Albus, what if other students see this and start learning from him. We have to do something about him." Came the voice of Minerva.
'This kid is gonna be a source of constant headaches I can feel it.'
"Severus what the boy did, breaking into your potions lab and 'using' your ingredients to make potions, doesn't it show his will to learn this art. How many years has it been since you found a student who was so interested in this subject to go to such lengths. And looking at how much you were swearing at him while chasing him, I can say that the potion was a success. Although with a minor flaw of increasing your anger" I say to try and turn this into a positive thing.
"And Minerva we already dealt with the matter of the sorting hat, so let it go now." I try and pacify her. Although I can tell, what really bugged her was that 'old grannie' comment that he passed. *sighs* She's not going to let it go easily.
"And what about burning his whole room with fire. Other students could have been hurt Albus."
'As I said, not going to let it go.'
"All Ansh did was practice magic on his own that went out of control. And that is exactly the reason Hogwarts exists. To teach young minds how to control their magic. Expelling someone for that very same reason seems a bit redundant."
"So you're saying you are just going to let him go without any punishment?" No way will Snape leave tonight without making the boy suffer.
"The boy literally burned alive Severus, I think that's enough punishment for anybody."
'Ah should I just agree and expel him, at least they'll let me sleep in that way. No-no focus Wulfric, you know you can't do that.'
"But Albus-"
"Enough Minerva, I said he has been punished enough. What happened during sorting will not be brought up again. And I believe that its time that both you go to sleep, you have classes to teach tomorrow, or should I say today?"
McG just gives one final glare his way and goes back to her quarters.
"What about the whole mess he created tonight?" Severus Snape is many things, but a quitter he's not. Especially when it comes to making students suffer.
'*deep breath* Alright Wulfric, one down one to go. You can do this.'
"Before that would you tell me why were you chasing after him while slinging spells?"
"That's because of his pot-"
"It's not. I have analyzed the remains on your clothes and I'm sure you have as well. The potion did have a side effect of increasing your anger, but not enough for you to chase him in the corridors."
"I was just-"
"Is it because of Harry? Look Severus, I get it. You have mixed thoughts about Harry. But I will once again tell you that the sins of the father are not of his child. And certainly not of another kid who just wants to learn about magic."
"....I believe it is about time we both go to sleep Headmaster." After saying that Snape leaves for his own room.
'Hehe, works every time. Now let's see if sleep is merciful on me.'
