Chapter 4 - Resource management

The thing about hushed conversations is was that they always drew an eye. Ciel glanced over to where the two people were conversing and winced, she still had a remnant of the pain within her body. She studied the plants almost drooping off the counting and the decided to drop it. She didn't want the small things to concern her here the next item on her agenda was doing something with the money she had stolen. She didn't want to loose her moral entirely so she had to choose a method that wasn't dirty it desperate. Desperate? She questioned inwardly she wouldn't have done it if she were not desperate she tried to convince herself but all it looked like was she falling down the wrong path.

There were a few notes of interest in the streets around her. There was a person chatting to a cat, they scratched under the cats chin. Then there was a woman in a pinstriped suit who handed out flyers.

Ceil headed towards the woman handing out flyers " new performance in town ,eh? Wonder if I might join?". for a brief moment the woman started nodding along with her having seen the ruggedness of her her scars but stopped when the cold iron in ciels eyes had an equally measured look.

"Maybe not dearie but we have plenty of other attractions if you would like a look"

"I'll take your word on it, when is it" ciel asked inquisitively holding up a pamphlet.

"Ah in about months time" the woman murmured theatrically.

"Well I'll be there, sounds fun"

Ciel noticed out of the corner of her eye that the two people arguing in the shop where leaving. The woman's face was red and the man scowling. They brushed against the vines hanging over the awning.

The clothes that they were wearing were nice a little scuffed up around the edges.

A child came running through the plaza bumping into to her, their parent hurried after them. Off the child went dodging between legs and knocking over strangers.

Next was the person with the cat. They could just be talking with a cat or they could be talking to a magical cat it was very hard to tell sometimes. Given how animatedly this person was Ciel guessed that it was the latter

She walked over "hello there, I will be very disappointed if he isn't a talking cat"

The man straightened up abruptly " you saw that, did you?"

Only a little bit ciel pinched her fingers together

"little bit otherwise your fine, I mean it isn't something I haven't seen before. "She had never seen a talking cat before but she had heard of them.

The man bent down, blushing.

Ah, nah don't do that you're fine. a mean again no the weirdest thing I've seen.

"So talking cat, it is or isn't it"

The man nodded shakily

"Cool, that isn't an answer though"

"It's a talking cat" he reached up for his face and pulled back again indecisively in a nervous manner.

Ciel paused speculatively. "So you must a wizard. What division?"

"third division black."

Ciel hiccuped "so uh third division uh that is well uh that is interesting uh I mean cool, cool" she hiccuped again and took a deep breath relaxing "yeah that is cool"

"Yeah it is kind of I guess"

"Right I better be off things to buy"

She swung wide the door to the clothes shop she didn't have nice clothes.

The ones that she was wearing on her and been dipped in mud various times and stank they also worked very well as a people deterrent. The people I'm the shop wrinkled their noses.

"I'll need something practical where might I find it" she grimaced at her own haughty tone.

One of the guys in the shop indicated a rack at the back full of plain button shirts.

She selected the shirt that matched her size and went in to find some brown pants in the draw below.

She passed three golden coins into the hand of the ships attendant.

" thank you"

She held her new clothes tightly to her chest.

And ran out of there she didn't want to get them into a mess by tripping into a puddle she continued this various path into she was well into the forest separating her hovel from, the main house and town.
