Chapter 5 - A visit home

Linda had thought about what April had said to her last night, she couldn't deny the fact that she missed her son so very much. She had no idea of how or where he was and if he was still alive, he could be looking for them. April had a point, she had to try at least once. For years she had seen April try different things to find her parents but Linda had been hiding the alternatives instead of implementing them. she could see the shocked and surprise on April's face when she tried her they were going to the demon world. Linda didn't need to read April's mind to know what she was thinking about although demons couldn't read other demons' minds, she knew April was probably thinking about what made change her mind so quickly. " grandma, when can we go? now?" April asked her excited, " it's a bit too early" Linda said thoughtfully. " isn't that a good thing, we'll leave early and be back in time. I have college you know and you have work" April said persistent. " well I took the day off" Linda said but April didn't take that " and I still have college and work afterwards" she said grabbing her grandma's hand. " alright let's go" Linda said finally convinced while April smiled at her achievement. April locked the door while Linda mumbled a few words and a Portal appeared in front of them. " let's go" Linda said as she grabbed April's hand and went through the portal. When they arrived at the demon world, it was night. April could recall that it was mostly night than day in the demon world but what she couldn't remember was the sight before them. " grandma, where exactly are we?" April asked trying not to believe this was her home, " it's the castle" Linda said disappointed herself. April was shocked as well, the once magnificent castle was now in ruins. "The Shakira had destroyed it, they had won" April said as she fell on her knees and burst into tears. " come on dear, don't cry" Linda said trying to console her granddaughter but it was of no use as April kept on crying. " this means that your father is..."

" no grandma don't say it, father can't be dead, he can't die he is a demon and a witch, his demon side will save him" April said still sobbing, she didn't want to believe that her father could be dead. He had an advantage being a demon and a witch because if his witch side died, his demon side could save him. so April had a reason to believe that her father wasn't dead. " what of your mother?, you have to face reality dear" Linda said while wiping a tear from her face, she didn't want to break down like her granddaughter one of them had to be strong for the other. "Grandma why are you saying , how can you tell me to face reality?" April said still crying. Linda sighed and said " I don't want to believe it too, but I can't deny the fact that I knew they would come for my son, I knew they would never accept him and just when I thought things were getting better they attacked". " grandma, I won't just declare my parents dead, let's cast the spell then I'll believe you" April said and brought out the sheet of paper from her pocket. As much as Linda didn't want to perform the spell in fear of it's outcome, she still had to help April try. April sat on the floor and began to chant the spell, she closed her eyes and the chanting became louder. Then the wind became restless and blew her hair up , her eyes were closed tightly and then she stopped, so did the wind." did you see anything?" Linda asked hoping for a good reply when April said" no, I don't think it worked." . " who did you search for with the spell?" Linda asked April who said " mother, grandma maybe you should try it for for father. you're the better witch" April said while handing over the paper to her. " I don't need it " Linda said and sat down to perform the spell as well. She did the same thing April did and when she opened her eyes, a deep frown settled on her face. " you saw something?" April asked persistent of an encouraging answer from her grandma. " I saw nothing" Linda said and stood up, " but how could that be ?" April said as tears streamed down her eyes. " April..." Linda called softly , she reached for her but April walked backwards " no" she said and ran into the castle. Linda ran after her but tripped on a stone and fell , she sat up and began to cry. she knew April needed some time alone but Linda had seen something when she cast the spell. she could see a man in a dark cave with only few touches lit , the man looked exhausted and kept shouting for help. Linda couldn't quite see the man's face but she had a feeling it was her son , he was trapped and she couldn't help him. she didn't tell April because she couldn't predict what April would do next but she would have to tell her sooner or later, she couldn't hide it forever and she needed to find her son.
