THE ROOM WAS set in absolute silence, only tainted by the occasional soft mumbles outside Adda’s room. The woman laid in her bed with wrinkled clothes from the day before, and her eyelids were closed shut. Then, her green eyes jerked open and, like a resort, she searched frantically for her phone to look at the hour. It took her a few seconds in her daze to realize she had been sleeping on it. She rubbed her face, feeling it hot from the phone pressed against it, and began to tap the on button to see the time, however, the screen remained black. Fearing she was already running late to class, she sprinted out of bed and retrieved her charger from a drawer. The moment the device illuminated, she finally saw the numbers on the screen and gasped.
“What?!”
She took another look, unable to believe it. She was two hours late and she wasn’t even ready!
