THE PHONE BUZZED in her pocket, once then twice… Tania knew she should have left it in her purse. She knew she shouldn’t be looking at it in the middle of work, especially when the restaurant was on busy hours, but more than one buzz seemed to indicate Adda was responding.
“Just wait a minute more”.
She told herself. But her worries kept growing, the terrifying idea that something must have happened to her girlfriend getting more real with every second she refused to take the phone off of her white apron. She looked at the clock up in the wall. There were still twenty minutes before the pause.
“Hey, waiter, here, hey!”
Tania turned towards the voice, a young blonde woman stood at the table, the chair next to her hanging a tote bag. She waved her hand and gave Tania a superficial smile.
“I think you have our plates there”.
