Flash back…Baek Hee Sung dashes through the rain with Cha Ji Won . She mourns her wrecked hair and clothes on their first date. Hyun Soo counters this is the first and only date, now she should stop bothering him. Undeterred she says others have noticed that he watches her and wondered if they are dating. She asks why he doesn't seem to know that he likes her. She teases him. He's drawn to her.
Then he feels it, sees him, the man with the soulless eyes, holding the dog leash. Hee Sung's eyes widen, he clinches his fists, and tenses. Ji Won looks and sees nothing. She asks if he's okay. That breaks the spell. He calls her weird for liking him someone like him. He leaves. Ji Won cries.
The use of the light on the soulless eye guy's face was effective and chilling.
Upset over the report about Mr. Nam's murder which mentions Hee Sung's previous identity Do Hyun Soo, Gong Mi Ja (Hee Sung's Mother but not Hyun Soo's biological mother) rails at Hee Sung for getting married and trying to live a normal life. He puts them at risk. What if people found out? Hee Sung tells her to calm down. He says he met Mr. Nam years ago. She apologizes for slapping him. She doesn't understand why she got so upset. She asks if his wife suspects. Hee Sung admits Ji Won is in charge for the murder case. She rails that his wife is not to be trusted. Hee Sung states there were bloodstains at the murder scene. He believes the case will be solved without the authorities finding out that Hyun Soo is him. He needs her support. She tells him to go. As he leaves, she tells him their house is too big for 2 people and he should stop by the dinner. Hyun Soo points out there's more than 2 people in the house. He leaves.
Baek Man Woo (Son Jong Hak) (Hee Sung's Father but not Hyun Soo's biological father) returns home. The maid informs him his son needs to eat. He says he'll handle it. He goes to the hidden room where his comatose son, the real Baek Hee Sung lies hooked to oxygen. Pictures frame the room of Hyun Soo's life. His father tends to his son. He brushes his son's hair and says his name, Hee Sung.
Team Lead Lee Woo Cheol reviews a family registry of Do Min Seok (Do Hyun Soo's Father) and Do Hyun Soo. There's a sister. Team Lead Lee directs his team – Ji Won, Detective Choi Jae Sub (Choi Young Joon), and Officer Im Ho Joon (Kim Jin Woo) to investigate the Do family.
Do Hae Sue (Do Hyun Soo's sister) stages a murder scene. The director wants more blood. Ji Won calls her to set up an interview.
They meet in a coffee house. She declares he hasn't seen her brother since he disappeared in 2002. Ji Won didn't come to discuss that. She asks about the 900K from Do Min Seok, her father's estate that hasn't been claimed. Why was the land sold but not the buildings? Were they safe house locations for her brother? The sister scoffs at the theory. She sold the land to pay off the victims but left the buildings because she doesn't care about profiting from her monster of a father. Ji Won realizes the sister cares for her missing brother. Hae Sue leaves.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin searches for information about Hee Sung. He finds an article about his father, Baek Man Woo, a hospital director. Moo Jin murmurs Hee Sung has a sweet new identity. His boss startles him out of his revelry. She drops the case files of father and son on the desk. She wants the exclusive. Moo Jin texts Hee Sung about the police investigation.
At home, Ji Won asks Hee Sung to put on his hooded raincoat. She considers. He asks why. She notes Mr. Nam's murderer wore a raincoat like this. Hee Sung asks if she thinks he committed the murder. She calls him silly. She notes when he came home that night, she didn't recognize him straightaway, but Mr. Nam knew his murderer at a glance even with a mask. Ji Won believes the killer is Hyun Soo, and if so, she gets a special promotion. She says she still has work to do.
Ji Won reviews case materials about the Yeonju murders. Hee Sung lays on her lap. She wonders if Do Min Seok's son and daughter didn't know their father was a serial murderer. She believes the father influenced Hyun Soo's development of a revenge-oriented antisocial personality disorder. Hee Sung cajoles Ji Won to snuggle with him. He suggests she nap. He asks if Reporter Kim Moo Jin will help to put together the sketch of Hyun Soo. She confirms that.
In Yeonju a woman watches a news report about the serial killings 18 years ago, the photo of Hyun Soo just released to the public. When they appeal to the public for more recent photos, she stops and stares at the TV.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin knows Hee Sung wants him to derail the sketch of Hyun Soo. He purposely does so while working with the e-sketch artist.
Hee Sung studies how to look sad in a cab drive.
Masquerading as Reporter Kim Moo Jin, Hee Sung visits Mr. Nam's wife. He's upset that he didn't pick up the phone when Mr. Nam called him just before he was murdered. Mrs. Nam points out the murder wasn't his fault. Hee Sung asks why her husband was working that late at night. She shares he had a habit of working late when he developed recipes. Hee Sung believes the killer knew this. He asks who would know that. The wife believes she was the only one that knew. Hee Sung presses that someone else knew and asks her to think who that could be.
The Yeonju woman reviews an old scrapbook. She finds the photo she was thinking about. It shows Hee Sung and a pregnant Ji Won walking behind her in a photo. She calls the police. Ji Won answers, gets the details, and the assurance the woman will provide the photo. The team is excited about the photo.
Unfortunately, the other witness that knew Hyun Soo declares Reporter Kim Moo Jin's adjustments make the image not look like Hyun Soo. Reporter Kim Moo Jin tells Officer Im his memory of Hyun Soo is strong. The other witness, an older man, admits his memory could be faulty. Officer Im gets a call and tells Reporter Kim Moo Jin and the other witness their sketch is no longer needed.
Mr. Nam's wife recalls the taxi.
Ji Won says she'll pick up the photo from the Yeonju woman. She leaves. Team Lead Lee asks what is bothering Detective Choi. He notes the investigation is being led by Hyun Soo, not vice versa. He notices the taxi driver's mug in the window sill. He calls the taxi driver who states he'll be there to pick it up. The police don't know the mug as a bug and the taxi driver listens to the investigation details. The taxi driver learns about Hyun Soo's photo. He murmurs Hyun Soo's name.
Flashback…Mr. Nam borrows the taxi driver's phone to make a call. The fish charm on his cell phone catches Mr. Nam's eye.
Flashback…Mr. Nam talks with Hyun Soo, who has a fish charm on his Walkman.
Flashback…Mr. Nam asks the taxi driver if he's Hyun Soo. The taxi driver pulls over and asks if Mr. Nam knows Hyun Soo.
The taxi driver listens to the police. He stares at his fish charm. Then he starts to drive.
Mrs. Nam tells Hee Sung that her husband used the same taxi service when he worked late. He calls Reporter Kim Moo Jin to report this. Reporter Kim Moo Jin cuts him off to report they've got bigger issues to deal with. He says the photo from Yeonju has a photo of him and his wife is driving to get the photo as they speak. Reporter Kim Moo Jin assures Hee Sung he'll help.
Officer Im tells Ji Won the composite sketch didn't go well because the witnesses had different memories of Hyun Soo.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin drives with explicit instructions from Hyun Soo to run red lights. He doesn't know Reporter Kim Moo Jin has a video recorder.
Ji Won and Officer Im wonder about why the Yeonju serial killer, Do Min Seok (Do Hyun Soo's Father), committed suicide exposing his murderous ways. Ji Won wonders if it was really suicide. Ji Won wonders if the victim's fingernails were shared between father and son.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin tells Hyun Soo catching the killer and writing an exclusive would be great. Hee Sung asks why Reporter Kim Moo Jin has his sister's necklace. Reporter Kim Moo Jin claims it was a gift he gave Hee Sung's sister Hae Su. He says he got it back when they broke up. Hee Sung says he threw it away. Reporter Kim Moo Jin isn't happy.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin asks Hee Sung how he assumed his current identity. Hee Sung says that Ji Won doesn't know about his past and his personality and wants to keep it that way. He says his father is scared of Ji Won and can't come near him. Reporter Kim Moo Jin knows Hyun Soo's father is dead so the statement upsets him. Hee Sung takes the video recorder out of Reporter Kim Moo Jin's pocket and erases the file. He wants Reporter Kim Moo Jin about such tactics.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin and Hee Sung arrive in town. They notice the number of empty houses.
Flashback…a high school Hee Sung is taped to a tree. He's brought to a mystic gathering where they try and exercise the demons they think he has in him.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin and Hee Sung arrive at the Yeonju woman's house. They agree to follow the script. Reporter Kim Moo Jin enter and get her to tell him about the photo and text Hee Sung where she's keeping the photo. After Reporter Kim Moo Jin texts the location, he'll led the woman out of the house and Hee Sung can grab the photo and flee. They'll meet at the designated spot. Hee Sung blows holes in Reporter Kim Moo Jin's plan but doesn't have an alternative one.
They enter the woman's courtyard. Hee Sung hides in an outbuilding while Reporter Kim Moo Jin approaches the house. He enters and finds the woman taped and lying on the floor. She tells him to watch out. Someone with a black mask bashes him on the back of his head.
Hee Sung sees the man exit the house. They struggle. Hee Sung rips the mask of the man and demands to know who he is. The taxi driver knows that Hee Sung is Hyun Soo. He says Hyun Soo knows Jung Mi Sook well. The taxi driver asks where Jung Mi Sook is. He says the cops will be there soon. He wants to know where Jung Mi Sook is. He suggests they meet at a fishing inn. The taxi driver says he's waited a long time for their first get together. Hee Sung doesn't know what he's talking about. Ji Won voice calls for the woman. Distracted, the taxi driver, punches Hee Sung and flees. Ji Won spots a man going over the wall. She calls Hyun Soo's name. Hee Sung freezes then vaults over the wall. Ji Won pursues him.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin struggles out of the house. Officer Im sees him and rushes to see the woman's state.
Ji Won pursues Hee Sung on foot. Hee Sung dashes into a barn. Ji Won turns on her cell phone flashlight to find him. She grabs a wrench for a weapon. She searches. Hee Sung watches. He grabs a hammer and bashes the overhead light just as she turns it on. Then he attacks her putting a blanket over her head. Ji Won fights well. Hee Sung ends up saving her from falling instruments. Then he handcuffs her and flees.
Reporter Kim Moo Jin calls Hee Sung and asks where he is. Hee Sung tells Reporter Kim Moo Jin to find out who Jung Mi Sook is. Reporter Kim Moo Jin recognizes the name. Hee Sung says that person must be associated with him. Reporter Kim Moo Jin puzzles to remember who the woman is. Hee Sung struggles with his injuries from the blow from the falling instruments. He grabs a shirt from a clothes line.
Officer Im finds Ji Won in the barn. Humiliated she's relieved the woman is okay. Unfortunately, the photo is gone. Ji Won wonders who Hyun Soo is. Officer Im says it wasn't Hyun Soo.
Flashback…the masked taxi driver holds the photo and demands the Yeonju woman identify Hyun Soo.
Officer Im says the killer is after Hyun Soo. They agree Mr. Nam's murderer isn't Hyun Soo.
Hyun Soo arrives at the fishing inn the masked man wanted to meet at. He gets a room. He fashions a weapon with a piece of broken glass.
Ji Won and Officer Im meet with villagers. They are worried about Hyun Soo being back in town. Ji Won informs they that Hyun Soo isn't the suspect, a man chasing Hyun Soo is. She asks them to rack their brains about visitors. They remember the taxi driver.
Detective Choi finds the CCTV of the taxi driver stopping at an apartment building on the night of the murder, but no passenger exits the vehicle. Officer Im calls Team Lead Lee and states Hyun Soo isn't the prime suspect, the man pursuing Hyun Soo is. Ji Won tells Team Lead Lee that a murder victim, Jung Mi Sook, killed by Do Min Seok whose body was never found. She requests they check out her husband who is likely a taxi driver. That gets Team Lead Lee's attention. He puts it on speaker so Detective Choi can hear too. Ji Won explains one victim's body was never found. Her husband and dug to find his wife's body. The husband believes Hyun Soo worked murders in tandem with his father and knew where his wife was buried. Ji Won doesn't understand how anyone found out about the photo. Detective Choi finds the bug in the taxi driver's mug.
Flashback…Ji Won briefs the team that Mr. Nam feared Hyun Soo until the day he died. They discuss the only photo they have of Hyun Soo is a middle school photo. Ji Won says Hyun Soo killed the village foremen and fled town setting his house on fire before leaving.
Flashback…the man in the black hooded raincoat gets in the taxi driver's taxi. He pulls the hood back and his mask off. It's the taxi driver! He climbs into the front seat and drives away knowing the CCTV is filming. He goes to the warehouse with walls covered with missing flyers of his wife. He coughs and takes medicine.
Detective Choi pulls the report on the murdered Jung Mi Sook. It lists her husband, Park Kyung Choon, as a taxi driver.
The taxi driver drives.
Flashback…Mr. Nam and the taxi driver discuss if Hyun Soo is an accomplice in the serial murders. Mr. Park says he and his wife had matching fish charms. He says his wife's phone was found at Do Min Seok's workshop but not the fish charm. He believes Hyun Soo has the fish charm. He says the cops don't want to find Hyun Soo. Mr. Nam points out that Mr. Park's wife's body is decayed. Mr. Park says he'll use the information about Hyun Soo well.
Mr. Park drivers to the fishing inn.
Hee Sung gets a video call from a sobbing Baek Eun Ha (Jung Seo Yeon) (Hee Sung's daughter) who is upset her father isn't home. Hee Sung tells his daughter something has come up. He says he'll be there soon. She demands her father come and get her. He promises he'll be there soon. He hangs up on the sobbing child.
Mr. Park arrives at the fishing inn. Hee Sung spies him from the window. Mr. Park sees Hee Sung from the taxi.
A police officer gives Ji Won a watch found in the barn. It's Hee Sung's watch, the one with the inscribed band that Ji Won gave her husband.
