Chapter 12 - Mafiozi's Unyielding Authority: A Confrontation of Power and Pride

-I'll write it! I'll write it! I'll write it to put an end to all of this.- he exclaimed, and the brunette girl released her grip on him. He rubbed his hand and quickly started writing. -I've written it," the boy muttered, but it wasn't enough for her.

-Finally. Now go and deliver it to him. But no theatrics.- the girl sweetly drawled and patted Luke on the shoulder. He clenched his teeth and made his way toward me. For a moment, I thought he was going to unleash an angry retort. I retrieved the note from Foris. I thought that would suffice, but clearly, not for Mafiozi.

-Now, kneel before your 'friend' and beg for forgiveness.- she instructed, her words causing the whole class to gape. However, the brunette girl merely crossed one leg over the other.

-What?! This is going too far! Why should I do that?!- Luke roared.

-Well, probably because it's an order. Don't forget, I am from the Mafia. You might not make it, you know.- she said with a matter-of-fact tone and a smirk.

-So what? I also have a friend from the Mafia!-the boy retorted. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't have challenged the Mafiozi. She rolled her eyes and lazily continued.

-You've become boring to me.- I couldn't believe my eyes. The girl actually pulled out a gun and pointed it at Luke. -Any last words?

Foris quickly dropped to his knees and started pleading with me. The apologies sounded so pitiful, nothing like the commanding voice of a basketball team leader.

-Hey, genius! Heard that? You can go back to your buddies now. Looks like they're just like you. I wonder, does obesity run in the genes too? Or is it just a personal trait?-the girl mused thoughtfully.

Suddenly, one of Luke's friends couldn't contain himself anymore, leapt towards Mafiozi, and swung his arm. Astonishingly, the girl didn't even flinch. But perhaps, that was the boy's final move.

- But for some reason, we don't think with our heads.

The boy paled and started to retreat, stumbling over desks and chairs. I almost fainted seeing how Mafiozi was looking at him. That look, I would remember it for the rest of my life. A devilish gaze that sent a shiver down my spine. Her face was self-assured and determined. It meant that the boy's chances of survival were practically nonexistent.

-No one has ever dared to approach me like that, let alone try to strike. Not even attempted. Tomorrow, you'll see what becomes of those like you. Well, maybe not tomorrow, because by then, you won't be seeing anything.

A prolonged ring of the bell sounded, and Luke's friend fell to his knees before the brunette girl. But I knew these pleas wouldn't help. She strode over to her black leather backpack and made her way out of the classroom.
