Allison's POV:
I screamed at the top of my lungs as he pulled the trigger, causing a loud gunshot to echo in the preserves. All the birds perched in the trees were startled, squawking and quickly flying away. My hand immediately went to cover my face in fear, and my body kept shaking like a leaf. However, I didn't feel any pain from the bullet piercing my skin on my forehead or injuring my brain. In fact, I didn't feel anything except the terror the gunshot reverberated within me. Soon after, I realized that nothing had happened to me, yet I still kept my face covered with my hands.
Breathing heavily against my palms, I tried to calm myself down and slowly moved my hands down to see Jacob in horror as he stood before me, with his hands extended along my side. I realized that he had shot behind me. Catching my breath, I moved my hand to my chest, pressing it and trying to breathe normally.
