Once Remi could no longer hear the retreating footsteps belonging to Drassel. He looked down at the tray of food before him. His stomach let out a low rumbling sound as the smell of the drifting steam from the soup tickled his nose.

What were the chances that there was poison in the food? Hopefully slim since they went through the effort to detain him.

Remi looked down at the ring that was still on his finger. It was a woven band of gold and silver with a large diamond in the center. It had been a gift from Demian after their engagement had been officially recognized.

Demian had given it to him on the first day they had arrived at Oakswood at the start of their second year. It had been packaged in a black velvet box with a pink ribbon tied around it. Demian's hands had been shaking when he placed the ring on Remi's finger.
