The director was silent for a moment. "What if I came to visit you?" He asked.
Sarah was taken aback, surprised by the director's offer. She hadn't expected him to be so understanding.
"That would be nice," she said, her voice full of gratitude."I just don't want to cause any problems for the production".
The director's voice was gentle"You're not causing any problems, Sarah "he said. "I know this a difficult situation and I want to help however I can If coming to visit you will make things easier, then that's what I'll do".
Sarah was touched by his compassion. "Thank you so much," Sarah said, her voice filled with indescribable emotion. "I appreciate your support ".
The director's voice was warm. "You're welcome," he said. "Just take care of yourself and your family and let me know if there's anything else I can do to help".
Sarah felt a weight lift from her shoulders. " Thank you," she said again. "I'll be in touch soon" She hung up the call and turned back to her father, feeling a little bit more hopeful than before.
The doctor comes into the room, his expression is serious as he enters the room. "Sarah, can I speak with you for a moment?" The doctor asked.
Sarah nodded a knot forming in her stomach. " of course " she said.
The doctor motioned for her to follow him into the hallway.
"We did a full scan of your father's injuries," he said, his voice solemn. "And we found something we were not expecting" Sarah felt her heart pounding in her chest.
"What is it?" She asked, her voice shaking.
The doctor took a deep breath before speaking.
"We found a mass in your father's lungs," he said. " it's not clear yet if it's malignant or not, but we'll need to do further tests to find out"
Sarah felt the hall spin around her. She had to lean against the hall for support. " w..what does that mean?" She asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"it means that we don't know yet if it's cancerous or not," the doctor said. " but we need to be prepared for the possibility that it is"
Sarah's knees felt weak. The doctor put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
" I know this is a lot to take in," he said. " but we're going to do everything we can to help your father, and we'll make sure you're informed every step of the way. In the meantime, I'd suggest taking things one at a time and focusing on getting him the best care possible" the doctor advised.
Sarah nodded, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Thank you," she said. "I appreciate your honesty and support". Sarah said as the doctor gave her a small smile. "You're welcome," he said.
After the doctor left Sarah in the hallway, Sarah broke down in tears. Her tears flowed freely as as stood in the empty hallway. She felt like she was in a nightmare and she couldn't wake up. The thought of her father being sick was almost too much to bear.
She had always been close to him, and the thought of losing him was unimaginable. She tried to take deep breaths but it was hard for her to get any air into her lungs. Her face was pale and her cheeks were streaked with tears. She looked like a small wounded animal, small and vulnerable, her eyes were like a dark pool of pain and sadness, rimmed with red crying.
Sarah's father has always doted on her, always been her rock. He had been there for her through everything, from her first day of school to her first heartbreak. He had always been a steady presence in her life, a constant source of love and support. And now, the thought of losing him was unbearable. It was like a gaping hole had opened up in her heart and she didn't know how to fill it. She felt adrift like she was floating in a sea of despair with no shore in sight.
Then she feels a hand on her shoulder, she raises her head and sees a tall silhouette with wavy brown hair and brown eyes. Sarah's eyes widened in surprise as she looked up to see Michael standing there. He was wearing a concerned expression and his eyes were full of compassion.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice soft and gentle.
Sarah shook her head, her tears falling even faster now.
Michael wrapped his arms around her and she sank into his embrace finally letting herself cry.
He held her until her sobs turned into sniffles and then he pulled back, his eyes full of concern
"Do you want to talk about it?" Michael asked.
After a moment of hesitation, Sarah nodded. She knew that Michael was a kind and trustworthy person
