Chapter 10 - Chapter Nine

War

They left the city that day happy and relieved. Their meeting with Montezuma was

quite stressful, but they had completed their mission and were now heading home. They

ventured through the jungle and back to the river shore. They met up with the Reefers and

were pleased to see that they had completed the new trail back to Inca. They walked down the path and soon were home. Everyone celebrate upon their return. They were heroes of the

community.

After sharing the tale of their journey the elders commanded that everyone start packing

up the merryone and start hauling it north to trade. Everyone was very excited to see these

new lands and knew that the expansion of trade would make them even richer. There was

something that the Incas did not know though.

Montezuma had been approached by other high ranking officials of his kingdom. They

had heard that the Incas had dipped their hands into the sacred chocolate pool. They took this

as a serious sign of disrespect. They persuaded Montezuma that it would be wrong to do

business with the Incas. Instead of trading with the Incas, they decided to attack and raid their

village.

They traveled south and arrived before Inca in the thousands. The Incas sounded their

alarms and the men prepared for battle, but it was too late. The Aztecs stormed the city killing

everyone in their path. The Incas tried to fight back but they were out-numbered and stood no

chance. The elders commanded everyone to retreat.

The Incas ran into the forest as their city was raided. They were so sad to leave their

home and many people had died, but there was nothing that they could do. The Aztecs set

their homes on fire and began smoking all of the harvested merryone. They collected all of the

seeds, set their farm at Machu Piccu ablaze, then left.

The Incas returned to the ruins of their great city horrified and heartbroken. They had

lost everything. They tried to rebuild the city, but it was never the same as it once was. Their

economy was ruined. They had nothing to trade with the other villages for food or supplies. So,

everyone left the city and spread out into the jungle.

Dready got married and started his own family. They lived off the land and relied upon

no one but themselves. He missed the city that he had grown up in, but found freedom in the

jungle. He realized that all he really needed in life was food, water and Dabooty.
