Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A new beginning (3)

Cassian was still busy questioning Talus in the impressive library of the Lysandros family.

"Talus, what is the best way to find out his element and attributes?"

Cassian asked, looking bored as he poked at the magic ball on the table.

- Sir, an empty mana stone is the best way to determine your element and attribute

- By feeding your own mana into the empty mana stone, it will light up in the colours of your element and attribute

He couldn't remember everything, but he did remember a few things.

It was mentioned in the novel, that anyone with a mana core can automatically convert their mana into different elements, depending on their affinity.

For example, if you have a Water affinity, you can use the mana in your core to summon and control water.

Most mana users have only one affinity, but there are exceptions that have multiple affinities.

Water, earth, fire and wind are the standard elements.

Of course, there are also people with unique elements, such as each of the main characters in the novel.

With the different types of attributes that can be possessed, the matter becomes a little bit more complicated

There is the possibility that your element can be possessed with special attributes that can increase your usage possibilities.

For example, someone can have the water element with a healing attribute, or there are special attributes like someone with the earth element and an explosion attribute.

The different attributes give a mana user a wide range of uses in both combat and support.

´I am already getting headaches from the whole combat system´

Cassian's thoughts became so chaotic with all this thinking that he couldn't help but question the choices he had made in life.

"Shit"

He couldn't help but curse himself for having forgotten one of the most important factors that was vital to his survival in this world.

"Hey Talus, how do I learn to use the mana in my body?"

- The best way to learn is to use a mana stone

- all you have to do is hold it in your hand and use your will to draw the energy it emits into your body

- But I warn you, sir. Absorbing too much mana can result in your mana core being destroyed or damaged

"Thank you Talus"

Cassian replied in a monotonous voice. He wondered if he was the only teenager in the world who still had to learn things that little children had already learned.

Well, at least he finally has an idea of where he should start.

Cassian has decided that the best way to get the things he needs to start his training is to ask one of the butlers to buy them for him. Given the size of the mansion, it shouldn't be a problem for the family.

He put his hand on the table and pushed himself out of the chair with a look of annoyance on his face. Ignoring the fact that his stomach was screaming for food, he set off to find someone to get the items for him.

As he made his way through the rows of bookshelves to the exit, he paused to say something before leaving the library.

"Thanks a lot Talus, you have been a great help to me"

- Always a pleasure sir

'I should at least say thank you when somebody does me a favour, I am a noble now, I should at least have a bit of manners'

Cassian thought to himself before he finally stepped out of the library.

'Okey, now the next step is the search for an innocent worker who will do the dirty work for me'

With a mischievous grin on his face, Cassian set off to find a good working horse for himself.

-----

Cassian paces the long hallways calmly, but his eyes are wide open, as if he fears losing sight of something if he doesn't focus.

'So far I haven't noticed anyone in particular who is innocent enough to follow my every word without asking questions'

He wondered if he was going to get anywhere with his plans today, but before he could give up, he came across the perfect victim.

"Bingo" he said with a grin on his face.

"hey you there" Cassian said with an aggressive tone that was enough to give anyone a fright

"Ye~s"

A young boy with a frightened face stood in front of Cassian.

he had apparently been busy gardening because his hands were still covered with fresh soil.

"Ah...sorry young master I didn't recognize you"

"Hmm...no problem what's your name"

"My name is Erwin, sir." The boy answers in an uncertain tone.

"All right, Erwin, I want you to go to town tomorrow and get me a dozen mana stones and an empty mana stone" Cassian said with a cold expression

"Wh~at bbut young master I can't just neglect my work in the morning" erwin said with a stutter.

"Hmm... is that so?" With an even colder look, Cassian's eyes dropped slightly.

'Usually, when I give someone a cold look, it has an immediate effect'

In his old life, most people thought twice about going against his ways.

'Is this because I am no longer inside the body I used to be?'he wondered with a frown on his face.

What Cassian didn't know was that with his cold gaze and furrowed brow, he looked like one of those typical trash aristocrats. The kind who would destroy everything around them if they didn't get their way.

"Of course I can, young master, don't worry" said Erwin in an enthusiastic tone of voice that didn't go very well with his horrified face.

'I had no idea the young master could be such a scary person'

Erwin only wishes he had taken a sick day if he had known this could happen to him.

"Good, I hope you know what will happen if you don't do it" Cassian said with a slight smile on his face

"Yee~s of course"

'If I don't, this crazy bastard will obviously kill me' Erwin thought to himself with a helpless look on his face.

'Great, I have my first alley in this world' Cassian thought with a wide smile on his face, but unfortunately for Erwin it was more like the smile of the devil.

"Good, bring the items to my room tomorrow as early as you can"

"Yes of course young master" Erwin said with a bow in the hope that he would be allowed to leave.

"Hmmm Okey....I allow you to go now," he said with a stoic expression.

"Thank you young master," Erwin said before walking away with a broad smile on his face.

As Erwin ran through the corridors to get to his room, Cassian wondered if the young worker wasn't a little too happy to get away from him.

'Well it's none of my business I better find something to eat before I pass out from hunger'

Cassian doesn't show it on the outside. But today's events have been more stressful for him than expected.

He is aware that the first step to survive a fantasy romance novel is to get stronger.

And it all starts with learning how to use mana.

"But first of all I have to find the kitchen, with the size of the mansion it could take me all day"
