Far away from the glitz and glamor of the royal ball were the slums. The poorest people of Karneth as well as the criminal gangs lived in the dilapidated buildings and substandard living. Two children in mud covered rags kicked a ball made of layers of animal skin and fat.
They kicked the ball down the nearly empty street until they reached a large building with tan columns and a large half broken set of wooden doors. The girl with an eye patch looked up at the old temple and shivered as she remembered her mother's terrifying stories about the temple.
"Let's go Aribella. We shouldn't be here."
The two girls took off back down the street where they came from. The massive structure almost seemed to watch them as they played.
