Chapter 51 - Ch.51

I stood there silently as the group of students started giving their reasons for why the patient was getting the surgery. Each student was giving out wrong answers, and I knew what it was right away as my decades of experience came into play. However, since House was here I would rather keep quiet for now.

"Reall?! No one knows? Come on and here I thought med students were getting smarter every generation," House says with his signature sarcasm. The med students look annoyed at being called dumb, with their teacher glaring at House.

"House why are you even here?" the teacher says to him with venom in their voice.

"Bored, avoiding Cuddy. You know, the usual," House says snacking on some peanuts he pulls out of his pocket, along with another pill of Vicodin feeding his addiction.

"What about you kid? Why are you here and do you know what is wrong with this guy about to get cut open?" House says to me turning away from the even more annoyed teacher who was about to yell at House.

"Just to watch," I say wanting House to leave me alone.

"Oh, is that your father?" House says to me with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes," I say not clarifying who my father is, as my Dad is in the room now.

"I'm sure he'll be fine," House says patting my shoulder, but I can see no empathy in his eyes or voice. House just seems to not want the teacher to berate him.

"Yeah, I'm sure he will. As he is the one performing the surgery to fix the Tricuspid Valve Regurgitation," I say as House raises an eyebrow, with the teacher looking at me surprised.

"So you are Dr. Hunter's kid… He talks about you a lot. Did he tell you what he was doing?" House says to me with the teacher and med students looking at me.

"Sure he did," I say wanting to avoid any more issues with House.

"Lies, I know a liar when I see one. I'm somewhat of a liar myself you see," House says to me.

"Plus your Dad didn't know what the exact surgery was until an hour ago. Just that he was booked today for surgery," House says to me with a smirk calling me out for knowing what was wrong.

"So how'd you know?" House says completely fixated on me now.

"Just do," I say wanting this to end before House makes a bigger scene.

"OH! I like you, you remind me of someone else. They love to lie a lot," House says smirking at me.

"I'm gonna go," I say walking out of the room and leaving everyone behind.

"Hey! Wait up," House says following after me.

"If anyone asks you're my nephew," House says walking next to me.

"Why–" I start to say not wanting to involve myself with House who I'm sure is as problematic in this world as the one from the TV show in my past life.

"Because, like I said I know a liar when I see one. I also know when someone knows a lot more than they are letting on. You seem like a very smart kid, plus what I hear from your Dad you are a prodigy," House says as we walk and I give up now realizing I'm stuck with him until he loses interest in me.

"So why are you following me? From what I heard about you, you only care about things you take an interest in. So what about me interests you?" I say looking at him as he smiles now.

"See now I'm even more interested!" House says with a laugh.

"House!! There you are! Why are you not in the clinic?! You have clinic duty!... Oh, hello. Uhm… You are?" I hear a woman's voice that I know as Dr. Cuddy from the show. She was a woman who appeared in her late thirties, or earlier forties with black hair, dark brown eyes, an hourglass-shaped body, a curvy butt, and decently sized breasts.

'How'd I never hear about them or meet them? Don't tell me Dr. Wilson is a thing too,' I think to myself as House answers her before I can talk anyway.

"This is a new med student. I decided I wanted to show him the ropes. I'll take him with me to the clinic," House says grabbing my shoulder and dragging me with him to the clinic.

"Wait! What?!" Cuddy says hearing no resistance from House and apparently, he wants to take someone under his wing.

"Sorry, we are late got to go!" House says quickly entering the elevator with me before Cuddy can follow us.

"Yeah, we aren't going to the clinic. Instead, I want you to come with me to my office," House says pressing a different floor instead of where the clinic is. I just sigh and shake my head not caring anymore.

"Not curious?" House says to me with an interested look.

"Knowing what I heard about you from several sources… No, I'm not curious. However, I'm interested in what interests you about me," I say to House who chuckles.

"So you are curious then… Like I said you remind me–" House starts.

"Of you?" I say cutting him off and making him smile at me.

"Yep, I know you know what was wrong with that patient your Dad was about to work on. You seem to have a keen eye for this, like me. Plus the fact you are not even in med school right now is even more interesting. Almost like you have the experience without the experience. Just like me, I knew how to diagnose things before really being able to diagnose them," House says to me as the elevator doors open to the floor he works on.

"Come on," House says walking to his office.

'I could leave… Fuck! He knows I'm interested in him like he is in me… Mother fucker,' I think knowing House is as interested in me as I am in him. I follow after him into his office.

"Did your Dad tell you what I do here?" House says as we walk into his office and he pours himself a coffee and me one too. Taking a seat at a very similar table in the very similar office from the TV show.

"Yeah, plus I know you are a world-renowned Diagnostician," I say to him. Though for some reason didn't hear about him until today that he was real in this world.

"World renown, huh, didn't know I was that famous," House says with a laugh.

"So why am I here?" I say to him changing the subject before he can gloat more.

"Because like me you like solving interesting things. You wanted to solve why I'm interested in you. As you don't believe what I said earlier. As for me, I want to talk to someone who isn't my team, but still just as smart if not smarter," House says with a glint in his eyes. I can tell he is lying, just not what about.

"So, are you currently in Harvard? Your Dad said you got a full ride there and are currently at the top of your class, that true?" House continues.

"Yes," I say trying to piece together why he is interested in me.

"Good, then you should be getting into their medical school program easily. When you graduate, I assume you will be coming home to work around here. What kind of doctor are you looking to become?" House says to me with another interested look in his eyes.

"I want to specialize in both cardiology and neurology. Why?" I say to him with a raised eyebrow.

"Interesting," House says to me nodding his head.

"House? You called for us… Uhm, hey," I hear a woman's voice and see a blonde woman who is fairly attractive, having an hourglass-shaped body, but with a smaller shaped breast and butt.

The woman's name like the show, should be Dr. Cameron, and behind her are Dr. Chase and Dr. Foreman. Who like the others all look like the actors from the show. If I hadn't come to terms with living in a TV show from my past life, I'd be very shocked right now.

"Hello," I say to them as they all come inside the office giving me a curious look, then looking back to House with confusion.

"I just wanted you guys to meet… I never did get your name," House says looking at me, as I roll my eyes.

"Gabe Hunter, son of Dr. Ed Hunter," I say to them as they nod their heads knowing my Dad.

"And my protege!" House says to them making them all stare at House with wide eyes and back to me in confusion. Even I look over to House with a confused look.

"What?" I say to him.

"You are back for the summer, during that time I want you to 'work' for me. Then when you get out of med school maybe a job will be waiting here for you," House says to me with a smirk on his face.

"Why would I want to work for you?" I say to him as the others are watching this with utter confusion.

"Because you are like me, didn't I already say that?" House says to me with a laugh.

"So, we have a case. One that Mr. Hunter here will be helping us with. More like offering his opinions. As technically he is not a Doctor yet," House says to the group as they all give him an annoyed look.

"House–" Foreman seems ready to argue.

"Don't care deal with it," House says cutting him off.

"What if I don't want to work with you?" I say to House as the others give me an incredulous look. Since everyone would want to have the experience that comes with working for House, but not having to deal with him.

"Because since you are like me, we both know you want to work with me. Let's not play games… yet, that's for later," House says dismissing my possible refusal. I grunt knowing he is right. House smirks at me knowing he is right as usual in his opinion.

"Now, our case has to do with you three going to the clinic. I just wanted to introduce our newest team member. For Gabe, you are coming with me and we are going to play a game. Who can diagnose the most people just from their charts alone. Think you can beat me?" House says to me with an excited look while the three others leave while grumbling about working for House.

"What do I get if I win?" I say since I'm curious to see if I could beat House even with my last life's experience.

"The satisfaction of beating me," House says with a shrug.

"What do you get if you win?" I say to him with narrowed eyes.

"A new team member," House says with an evil smile on his face.

"Deal," I say standing up and shaking his hand.

"Good, then follow me to the first floor. Oh, and if you see Cuddy, she was the big-breasted woman we met earlier who gave me a hard time, then call out so we can escape," House says to me as we walk to the elevator to our first destination wherever that is.

"What should I call out?" I say as we enter the elevator.

"Hmm… Hoot like an owl, 'cause you know she's got big hooters," House says with a laugh at his own joke. I sigh and roll my eyes but nod my head.
