Chapter 10 - NEW MAN

Scarlett sat in the room, feeling isolated and alone. The silence of the empty room was deafening, and she couldn't shake the emptiness that had taken hold of her. Suddenly, a gentle knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.

A soft voice inquired, "Are you okay?" It was her deskmate, Kate. Although he had always been kind to her, she had never opened up.

Scarlett hesitated for a moment, unsure whether or not to trust him. However, something in Kate's voice made her feel secure.

She slowly stood up and walked to the door, her heart pounding with uncertainty. When she opened the door, Kate enveloped her in a warm embrace.

"It's okay to feel lonely sometimes," he said softly, "but you are not alone." His words were like a balm to Scarlett's troubled soul. She pushed him and ran away.

Scarlett's heart was heavy with a sense of hollowness that gnawed at her as she walked through the bustling streets. She meandered aimlessly, scanning her surroundings for something that could fill the void, but everything seemed dull and uninteresting.

The sounds of the city, once a source of joy, only amplified her misery. The people around her laughed and chattered, their faces aglow with happiness, and Scarlett couldn't help but envy them. She wondered what it would be like to be carefree and joyful like them, but the more she thought about it, the more she realized she had forgotten what happiness felt like.

She tried to push away the feeling of emptiness, but it lingered on, a constant reminder of her loneliness. Scarlett felt like a speck lost in a vast ocean of people, invisible and insignificant. As she walked, the emptiness within her grew, threatening to swallow her up entirely.

Scarlett lay in bed, trying to fall asleep. Her mind was abuzz with thoughts, and she found it hard to quiet her racing thoughts. Suddenly, she felt as though something had shifted, and the world around her went dark. A wave of fear washed over her, and she tried to move, but her limbs felt unresponsive and heavy.

The silence was deafening, and it only added to her growing panic as she tried to make sense of what was happening. Her heart raced, and she felt as though she had been trapped in a nightmare.

Just as she thought she couldn't take it anymore, a faint glimmer of light appeared. It was small at first, but it grew in intensity until it enveloped her in a warm, golden glow. The light was so bright that it felt as though she was basking in the sun on a warm summer's day.

As she looked around, she saw a beautiful field of wildflowers. The vibrant colors of the petals danced in the sunlight, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. Scarlett felt a sense of wonder and awe, marveling at the beauty before her. It was as though she had stepped into a fairy tale.

But then, she noticed something in the distance. A figure was walking towards her through the field of flowers, and as it drew closer, she recognized it as her mother. Scarlett's heart swelled with joy and comfort as her mother smiled at her and beckoned her over. She felt as though all her worries and fears had been washed away, replaced with a sense of peace and contentment
