Chereads / Sheathed / Chapter 10 - The Godly Forged

Chapter 10 - The Godly Forged

"Atsuko, what you did back there was amazing, she melted all the metal and protected us from Matsumura with her fire ability!", Katsu says with a large smile.

"Yeah, it was really easy and when blondie realized I could do that, OH BOY he was mad!", Atsuko says while laughing.

Well, either way, you got the gold back and you don't owe me a dept anymore and as thanks, I will let you two buy anything you want.", Hari says while drinking a pint of beer with a smile.

Both Katsu and Atsuko danced with cheer at the thought of being able to buy anything to their hearts content.

"Now, what should we get since we now have a 100,000 gold?", Atsuko asks while looking at Katsu with starry eyes.

"Lets see, hmm..... Food?", Katsu asks.

"Hmm, no, we can do that later, but lets spend it on something more exciting!", Atsuko says.

"We go traveling around the region!", She says with excitement.

"Wouldn't that be too expensive?", Katsu asks.

"That's true....", Atsuko says with a pout.

Both Katsu and Atsuko are thinking and debating on what to do with the money.

" Okay then, how about I take you to where I want to go and you two buy whatever there?", Hari says.

"OOOOHHH, WHERE ARE WE GOING?! Are you going to an exclusive clothes store?!", the two asked with excitement while following Hari.

"No, something different.", Hari says.

"Are we going to a 5-star fancy restaurant?!", they asked.

"No, something more different.", Hari says, slightly annoyed.

"Are we going to a cozy hot springs in the mountains?!", they asked a bit desperate.

"NO, I'M GOING TO A BLACKSMITH!!!", Hari says, shouting angerly.

The two looked at Hari with disappointed expressions.

"You're way too boring, why is a blacksmith the first thing that comes to mind when we could technically buy anything?", Katsu asks.

"The only reason I want to go, is because we need weapons, armor and supplies when we go on more quests.", Hari says.

"Why do we need to go on more quests? We already got your gold back, so why?", Atsuko asks.

"Its because the rest of the gold is for something else.", Hari says while walking.

"'Something else', what is it?", Katsu asks

"Its nothing, not that it would concern you anyways.", Hari says walking ahead.

Katsu and Atsuko raised their eyebrows in confusion but continue to follow without asking more about Hari's intentions with the rest of the gold.

After 30 minutes of walking, they finally reached an old building.

"Well, we're here, the town's forge, home and workshop of one of the greatest blacksmiths that are the cheapest around here.", Hari says.

The three walk towards the building and knocked on the door.

"I'll be there in a- ", a man inside says before:

"CRASH!! CLATTER!!"

"Ouch!!", the man says before opening the door.

"What do you want?", the man says while rubbing the back of his head.

"I heard you are the local blacksmith around here, we would like to buy some weapons, armor and any supplies needed.", Hari says.

"Hmm, well you came in just in time, I got new supplies that will be proven useful for adventurers like you.", the man says letting the three in.

The three look around and see many weapons, armor, shields and many well crafted items.

"Well, take your pick, anything you find here, you can buy it, I can also help fix your weapons or armor and make them good as new and better than before!", he says pointing out all his creations he forged.

While talking, he notices Katsu's sword.

"Ah, what do we have here?", he says as he looks closer at the sword.

"Do you mind if I have a look at it?", he asks looking at Katsu.

"Oh, uh, sure I guess?", Katsu says handing the sword towards him.

The Blacksmith tries and struggles to unsheathe the sword and was unable to take it out.

"Phew, you have one stubborn sword, I never seen a sword like this before!", he says while still trying to unsheathe it.

"Really? I thought it was only happening to me?", Katsu says in confusion.

"I thought you were just weak.", Atsuko says with a grin before Katsu started pulling her ears angerly.

"Hmm, let me see that.", Hari says reaching out for the sword.

"Ah, don't bother, if the kid and I can't take it out what make you- ", The Blacksmith says before:

"SHINK!", the sword made as Hari pulls the sword out with complete ease.

Everyone looked at Hari with completely shocked expressions.

"Y-you took the sword out, how did you do that?!?!", Katsu and the Blacksmith says in shock.

"Hm? What do you mean, it came out like how a normal sword would?", Hari says confusingly.

The Blacksmith steps closer looking at the sword.

"How strange, the sword seems completely normal, I was to assume this may have been one of The Godly Forged but I was wrong.", the Blacksmith says with slight disappointment in his voice.

"The Godly Forged? What's that?", Katsu asks.

"According to legend, The Godly Forged are powerful weapons that were forged by a God, there are only five weapons ever created, The Spear, The Bow, The Hammer, The Shield and The Sword, and anyone who may be in possession of one these weapons, would be the strongest person in the world.", the Blacksmith says.

"I heard about these weapons, but there is no proof of them existing is there?.", Atsuko asks.

"Not on book, but I know for sure they exist and if I ever get the chance to have one, I would dedicate my life to keeping them pure and powerful and never let them get in the hands of those who will use them to cause harm on innocent lives.", the Blacksmith says with determined voice.

"Maybe my sword is one The Godly Forged, Izanami did get angry at me for saying it was just normal sword and she did say it was forged by the God of Blacksmith, this is way too much of a coincidence to not be true.", Katsu thought to himself.

"Oh by the way, where exactly did you find this sword anyways?", the Blacksmith asks.

"O-oh, I... uh... ", Katsu thought to himself trying to lie as to try and keep the sword's origins secret.

"Uh..... Its a family heirloom from my grandparents???", Katsu says with a nervous smile.

"Why do you sound unsure of where its from?", Hari says confused raising an eyebrow.

"Is your sword one of The Godly Forged and your trying to keep it secret or something? C'mon, spill it out!", Atsuko says teasingly.

Katsu is sweating nervously trying to come up with answers but gave up and was about to tell them before:

"Well, like I said before, it isn't one of them, that's because they are a weapon that can be used by anyone, but if you and I aren't able to unsheathe your sword and only your tall friend can do it, then it can't be one of them.", the Blacksmith says.

"Wait a minute, if that is true, then how did Hari take it out without a problem?", Katsu thought to himself.

Katsu left that off as another mystery for later, they looked around, gathered, and bought a few weapons armor, and many other supplies for their next quest.

 Part Two

"This is a pretty nice dagger, I'd say.", Hari says he picks it up, checking its condition.

"Yep, it was made from pure obsidian, a very fine ore that took two days to forge into the blade, one of the few things I created that are better when it comes in quality and effectiveness.", the Blacksmith explains.

"Why don't you to test your weapons with a little training, at least get to know how they work and get your monies worth from it.".

The three follow him to the back of the building to see an old beaten up training dummy, that stood on an empty patch of grass and on an edge with the mountains in the distance.

"You can test it out on this dummy, don't worry if you destroy it, I can fix it later.", he says while slapping the back of the dummy's head.

Atsuko comes up first, she bought herself knuckles and combined her natural superhuman demon strength, punches and kicks the dummy with precise accuracy to weak points on a human.

(Hello, Aziah here, and I'm going to explain, she's only doing this to keep her identity as a demon hidden, she also changed appearance to look more human the whole time by removing her horns and claws.)

"You f**king straw for brains, how does it feel to get your ass beaten?!", Atsuko says with cockiness in her voice while flexing her arm.

"Wow, you seem pretty strong, must be the reason why you only bought those knuckles instead of a real weapon.", the blacksmith says while observing.

Next was Hari with his obsidian dagger, he slices and stabs the dummy at vulnerable and fatal spots that are on a person.

"This dagger seems to be cutting this dummy as if it was like paper and its surprisingly light, very nice I would say.", Hari says impressed.

"That's because the more you use it, the sharper it will become, making it able to cut through air easily without causing stress to your muscles.", the blacksmith explains.

And finally, Katsu, he didn't buy any weapons and decided to keep using his sword.

He tries to draw it out but to no avail.

"There is no point in using the sword, you can't even take it out it's sheathe so what's the point?", the blacksmith says shaking his head.

"I will make it work somehow, in some way!", Katsu thought to himself.

Suddenly Katsu came up with an idea, he spread his feet and got in a stance, he then hits the dummy the sword still in its sheathe like a club.

The Blacksmith looks at Katsu with confusion at the thought of him using it only as a blunt object but was also impressed on how he was using it to hit the dummy at its weak points, they weren't good or precise but was interesting on how he came to that as an alternative way for battle.

"That's really interesting of how you used it, but it won't be as effective in battle if you just flay it around, I think it would be best if you were to let me keep it.", he says with his arms crossed.

Katsu sighs in disappointment, "I don't understand why I can't use the sword, there must be a reason but what is it?", he thought to himself.

"Hey Katsu, let me try that sword out, if its proven useful, then we can keep it, but if it isn't, we give it him.", Hari says as he takes the sword.

Katsu, understanding the situation, lets Hari use the sword. Hari slowly takes the sword out, points it towards the dummy and swings it.

"SHING!", the dummy was split in half with only a single slash, everyone looks at Hari in awe as he puts it back in its sheathe.

At that moment, Katsu realizes something, he remembered that when he got the sword from Izanami, she said it holds some of her strength and abilities within it and that the sheathe has a spell to contain it and only those who are worthy can unsheathe it.

Upon realizing this, he knew at that moment he was in fact unworthy of using the sword.

"Well Katsu, looks like you get to keep your sword it after all.", Hari says as he hands the sword back to Katsu who is still in shock.

The three decided to take their leave back to the Adventurer's Guild, while heading back Hari notices a girl with white hair and glasses was walking the direction towards the forge but paid no mind to her.

The girl walks towards the forge and the blacksmith stops and waves.

"Okabe, its nice seeing you come to visit your old man!", the blacksmith says hugging her.

"Hey father, its great seeing in good health, made any good businesses lately? I saw three people coming from this direction.", Okabe says while putting her bag down.

"Yeah, those three are adventurers like you, they just came to buy some supplies for their next quest.", he says heading to back where the split dummy was.

"Hey, can you help me with this dummy, one of them destroyed it while training, split the goddamn thing in two.", he says pointing at the dummy.

"Yeah, sure.", she says grabbing some sticks and straw.

While the two are fixing the dummy, the blacksmith looked up and the color on his skin drained from his body and his eyes were widened.

"Father, is something wrong?", she says with concern.

"O-okabe, you won't believe what I'm seeing right now, I don't believe it either myself.", he says pointing out.

"What are you talking about- ", she says before:

"W-what the hell?", Okabe says with widened eyes.

"The mountain.... is split in half.".
