Chereads / Moonlight Nemesis / Chapter 2 - Her Resolve

Chapter 2 - Her Resolve

Time seemed to go hand in hand with the grief that Akemi was experiencing. Along with the blood dripping on the floor from Sister Maddie's body that was slightly leaning against the wall, the tears trickled down her cheeks one after another. The people she loves more than her own are cold and lifeless.

" Oh god, what did they do to experience this cruel event. " Akemi mournfully cried as she weakly touched the cheeks of the children who this morning were still energetically playing in the garden before she left.

Almost different parts of Akemi's body are stained with blood, she doesn't have the strength to stand up anymore. She just hugged Killu's cold corpse, while the others were lying around her. She seems to be bathing in their blood, and if someone comes in, she won't blame them if they thinks she killed her own family.

-

A few hours passed before she processed everything in her mind, silent, dumbfounded and seemingly out of her mind, she stood up and walked towards the door. She stared again at the huge moon that she could now see from the door. Without emotion, she looked at her nails--and they were no longer normal in length and shape, she also noticed that her hair has change; it was white as snow and with blood stains.

She had no idea what was going on with her, but she could feel and see something unusual, like thick red smoke emerging from the moon and currently flowing into her entire body. Her previously frail body is suddenly very light, and she feels a different kind of energy. She additionally felt an electric jolt that seemed to emanate from her body, and her field of vision widened.

"ARGHHHHH--AHJHHHH" she screamed loudly as she struggled from a severe headache. She can also feel her teeth shifting, as if she were being transformed into something. She was panting as she dropped to the floor, feeling the intense--so strong and rushing heartbeat; her entire system could feel it. She didn't know what was happening to her, but she was sure it had something to do with all the night she struggled to sleep.

"Perhaps...I'm not a human after all?" she asked gently, astonished by the silence.

-

"Hi Hey, are you still alive?"

"Yooooo, Halluuuu"

"Ah--I think she's dead."

"Stop it Jinro, it's obvious that she's still breathing." A woman in a black coat calmly said while staring at the man who was currently waving his hand in front of the unconscious Akemi as if he was waking her.

"What a mess, who do you think did this Eine?" the woman named Eine glances behind her, gesticulating with her hand at her subordinates. The guys in black robes nodded and walked inside the orphanage one by one.

"At this point..." Eine sighed, "You don't even need to ask Jinro."

"HAHA! You're right, those guys are the only ones who leave traces after killing." Jinro added, pointing to the orphanage's wall, which had odd letters scribbled with the victims' blood.

Afterwards Eina's men came out, carrying the victim's corpses; their end state was awful at the hands of their ruthless suspicions in this particular incident. This is not the first time something like this has occurred, because the gang they have been suspected of have perpetrated several crimes and murders, but they have yet to be sought or seized, because the group is made up of insane people and was known as Westerian Hunters.

" S-save t-them." both of them glance at Akemi's body, which was laying in front of them.

She slowly stood up, looking at the both of them weakly. According to their observations, the girl had no wounds, but her physique was exceedingly frail and appeared to be devoid of strength. They also notice its blood-stained hair, as well as its sharp claws.

They are unable to say anything because no matter how hard they try, they can't bring the dead back to life.

"P-plea--" Akemi was unable to continue what she was about to say as she was set to pass out, but Jinro held her fast so her body didn't fall entirely to the floor.

Jinro gasped, "Woah woah woah!" as he watched Akemi's hair changing color--it was returning to its normal color.

"Do you think she's one of us, Ms. President?" he questioned before standing up and lifting the unconscious Akemi.

Eine turned around and began going towards the parked car. "Isn't it obvious, Mr. Chase?"

Jinro grinned and then followed, strolling behind Eine Schruvijer, a well-known woman in the world of gifteds, whom he admired and ought serve for the rest of his life.

-

"Has she eaten yet?"

"Sadly, but she haven't sir."

Jinro sighed as he glanced through the glass pane at the solitary survivor of the carnage two days ago. She was quietly laying on her bed. He can't blame the girl if she loses her will to exist, because accepting that sudden and unexpected tragedy is difficult.

They discovered that the woman's was named Akemi, and she is one of the orphanage's oldest orphans. That is why it must be incredibly terrible for Akemi to have this happen, especially because she considers her orphanage mates as a family.

There are six casualties in the incident, two nuns in their 50s, and four children; three boys and one girl. They were killed around eight o'clock in the evening, it was also learned that the survivor was not there at the exact time they were killed because it was ten o'clock in the evening when she returned home from the conference she attended, based on the investigation. So for sure she was still in a shock, because of the incidents and with the change in her body which was just a normal human body a few days ago.

-

'What happen to me that night? I'm sure something strange happened to my body, and I have no idea why.' Akemi sighed profoundly.

The grief she feels as a result of the incidence of the night she will never forget is still fresh. It was the night that her chance to live a normal life ended, and she will never be able to forgive the ones who was responsible for her family's sudden death.

She could feel the fury and hatred that surround her heart, as well as her fear for her future that has yet to come.

She gently rose from her seat on the bed, approached the mirror, and examined her reflection. Her long hair has returned to its former color, as well as her nails. She also touched her lips to examine her teeth, which are now normal and show no indications of change.

"Surely they know something about what happened." she stated, referring to the folks who brought her here two days ago but had yet to hear anything from her. When someone brings her food, she acts worn out never eats anything at all. She knew something was amiss and strange about herself when she lasted without eating.

She returned to her seat on the bed. She felt bad about what she was doing to these people; they assisted, cleaned, dressed, and let her stay in this fine lodging and room, but she hasn't been able to thank them.

"Momma Maddie would be upset with me because of this." she said with a bitter smile on her face.

She wanted to, but she wasn't ready yet; she hadn't decided and thought hard about the next steps she would take without her family by her side for the next few days.

She could not lose vision of their bodies lying there, bleeding and lifeless, when she discovered them; she will going to make sure that justice was served for their deaths.

She sighed as she recalled she hadn't seen them again after she passed out, but she was certain that the people who help her gave them a proper burial because she overheard the people who brought the food earlier discussing it.

-

Through the window, a man silently entered Akemi's room. He was dressed in a mask and was staring at the girl's face. When he realized she was just a regular woman, his eyes filled with disappointment.

He tapped twice the earpiece that he was wearing. "You're dead." He coldly said and a man chuckled through it.

[My pleasure, HAHAHAHA] the man stated then the call ended.

He looked at the girl again then leaned against the window, it was such a disappointment that he couldn't get any information from it.

"As I suspected, those westerian hunters just killed randomly again. " His jaw clenched as he disappeared without a trace.

Akemi got up from lying down and pretending to be asleeep, she heard everything that the man said.

At this moment, Akemi's life was about to change. She was furious, certain and despirate that she will hunt every hunter that the man just mentioned.

" They will pay for it. "
