Chapter 3 - Arrival at the orphanage

I awoke and tried to get up and make breakfast but found myself incapable of movement. My confusion lasted only for a few moments before the memory of what I saw the day before flashed through my mind causing me to gasp out and think to myself 'Could it be because I was wearing the Minato and Kushina T-shirt when I died that it was decided I would be reborn here?' Panicking slightly I wondered 'What do I do now?'

Knowing the plot, I know that my new older brother will face a lot of challenges but since I am here I will try to do the best I can to support him.

Life at the orphanage as a baby jinchuurikis is a horrible experience I will never wish on anyone.

First of all the orphanage matron in her blind hatred will refuse to feed us and when we are almost dying of hunger the ANBU will have to step in before she feeds us, even when she does the milk is cold and she is not careful almost choking us, after a while she forgets about the threat from the ANBU and the cycle starts all over again.

Secondly, pooing and peeing is horrible cos she never changes us on time and we always have horrible rashes for a few minutes before the Kyuubi chakra heals us.

At a year old we had started to toddle around and talk a bit so in the time we were allowed out of our "room" ('prison more like' I thought to myself rolling my eyes) I took the time to observe other toddlers in the orphanage as there was no other way to gauge our growth and I didn't want us to be treated more as monsters than we are already treated as.

Watching other kids turned out to be really useful hence I was able to teach Naruto language better and impress the importance of keeping our ability secret.

By the time we were 3, I had noted the things that will be needed to cook and how to protect ourselves in case we were ever dumped out on our asses. I also noticed we had an 'inventory' of sorts where we could store things and I used it to steal things for the orphanage. Things necessary for survival like thick clothes, flints, chopsticks, bowls, knife and so on.

A YEAR LATER

I hissed as I glared at the matron who ignored us while teaching the other kids to read. Luckily for me I had learnt Japanese before I died so I was able to catch up. I had taught Naruto how to speak over a while ago and he was practically a little genius.

He picked up English quite quickly and by the time we were a bit over 3 years we had learnt Japanese.

It took a while to knock it into his head that English was our own secret language.

I also found that we could talk telepathetically which is actually very fun. We just had to make sure that we don't speak randomly.

Right now I have other things to worry about, namely how the bitch matron just kicked us out, disregarding the fact that it was already 7 in the evening and there was no way we would be able to find shelter, citing that we were old enough. Bah! Does she think us as idiots?! Other four year olds are still protected under the orphanage's wings but we were getting kicked out.

Thankfully I had already prepared for this day so holding Naruto's had I dragged him to where was muddy and used the mud to camouflage our hair and our faces making us look like muddy homeless rats (which we are but we aren't rats) then wandered off.

Feeling uncomfortable but having no way to vent it, I decided that it would be best to find a place to stay for the night. Searching around I found an alley for Naruto to stay in and made sure the other side led to somewhere else so that if someone notices he would be able to run. I also look for a box large enough to hold him and situated it instructing him to hide in it if he hears anyone coming then I telling him to wait while I looked for where we could stay.

It took several hours but eventually I found a training ground that was practically overgrown with weeds and thankfully also had a small spring.

Looking around I picked a tree that looked sturdy and used a knife to make some holes that we could use to climb up then found thick vines that we could hold onto in case we fell and secured them.

Then I arranged the leaves above the branch so that if rain fell it would not disturb us.

With our shelter settled, I set out to pick up Naruto and find what we could eat for the night.
