Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Kingdoms divided**

---

Inside the grand halls of Eldoria Palace, the budding romance between Prince Adrain and Princess Liora of Veridale sparked turmoil and unrest among courtiers.

Lord Mervin seized upon the opportunity to curry favor with the king. "Your Majesty, it appears we are witnessing a curious dance between a dog and a lion," he remarked, hoping to sway opinion.

Lord Cedric interjected, seeking to quell the rising tension. "We cannot decipher your cryptic analogies," he countered, attempting to steer the conversation toward reason.

"Veridale has been our enemy for generations. It is folly to entertain any notion of reconciliation," Lord Mervin declared, finding support among his peers.

Prince Adrain, however, challenged this narrative, questioning the historical animosity between the kingdoms. "What wrong has Veridale committed that no other kingdom has? They intervened in our coup d'état, leading to the birth of Polasis Kingdom, yet they did so without pillaging our resources or oppressing our people. They merely allowed us to stand on our own feet," he argued passionately.

"Veridale's interference gave birth to Polasis Kingdom, our erstwhile ally," Lord Mervin interjected, framing their actions as treacherous.

Lord Cedric sought to bridge the divide, urging forgiveness and reconciliation. "Let us not dwell on past grievances. Veridale's actions were born out of a desire for peace, not malice. We must move forward with open hearts and minds," he implored, appealing to reason amidst the escalating tensions.

As discussions grew heated, Prince Adrain voiced his defiance. "If war is the price of love, then I shall gladly pay it. I will not stand idly by as my beloved faces the wrath of our kingdom. I will protect her at all costs," he declared resolutely, drawing the attention of the ailing king.

Before a decision could be reached, the king succumbed to the strain of the debate, leaving the council in disarray.

**Meanwhile, in the shadows of Veridale Kingdom...**

Princess Liora sought solace in her mother's chambers, troubled by the lack of support for her relationship with Prince Adrain.

"Mother, it seems our people are hesitant to embrace my union with Eldoria," she confided, her spirits dampened by the discord.

The queen, ever a source of wisdom and comfort, offered reassurance. "My dear daughter, the opinions of our people are shaped by the whims of the court. Fear not, for Veridale Kingdom harbors no ill will toward Eldoria. It is the politics of the palace that sow seeds of discord," she reassured, tenderly tending to her daughter's troubled thoughts.

As she gently ran a comb through Liora's hair, the queen imparted a timeless truth: "In matters of the heart, true love knows no boundaries. Let not the intrigues of courtiers dim the flame that burns within you, for love shall always prevail."
