Aide Fei left to get two more sets of utensils. Madame Wei and Fu Lin are in the room by themselves.
Fu Lin : "This household is deserted and has no warmth but otherwise its not a problem."
Madame Wei : "I'm glad I don't have to act like the Madame of the house in front of several servants, I can take time to adjust."
Fu Lin : "Madame, I wonder what General will be like, what he looks like?
Madame Wei : "…"
Fu Lin : "There are some really scary rumours about him. (gasps) Ah Madame what if he's BALD!"
Madame Wei : (to humour Fu Lin) "Ah with one eye!?"
Fu Lin : "And four teeth!"
They both laugh merrily. "That will be enough now," said Madame Wei
Aide Fei comes in with, a tray of two sets of utensils and another wine jar.
Madame Wei : "Fei there is already wine set up at this table." Fei had already set two glasses and a wine jar at the table. It was customary to have exchange wine between newly weds with their arms crossed.
Aide Fei : "Yes Madame, for the occasion I had brought osmanthus wine, but I forgot about it and placed plum blossom wine like always."
Fu Lin : "Who drinks plum blossom wine?"
Aide Fei : "General."
Fu Lin : "General like sweet wine?"
Aide Fei : "Well on the camp site, we usually drink rice wine. Plum blossom only when in the capital."
Aide Fei : "General had instructed me to serve delicious food to Madame, since you will be tired and famished from the rituals and ceremonies all day long.
Madame Wei : "That is thoughtful of General."
Aide Fei : "Madame, which wine will you like?"
Madame Wei : "Plum blossom please."
Fei serves the wine to Madame and Fu Lin. They happily eat the dishes served, and share with each other.
Aide Fei : "Madame which of the dishes you like?"
Fu Lin : "Madame enjoys the pecking duck roast from Mei'ren."
Aide Fei : "I did the right this buying it. Next time Madame tell me I'll get you everything you like."
Fu Lin : "She also like mung bean cake. I like scallion oil chickens and rice sesame seed cake"
Aide Fei : "I asked Madame's favourite not yours."
Fu Lin : "When you go out to buy Madame's favourite you can also buy mine."
Madame Wei : "Fei do you send reports to general?"
Aide Fei : "Yes, I send letter to him about the happenings of the house and city."
Madame Wei : "Can I send one?"
Aide Fei : "Yes Madame! You definitely can."
Madame Wei : "When are you sending your next letter
Tomorrow."
Madame Wei : "I'll have one written by then. Thank you Fei."
The atmosphere shared was warm, joyous and colourful. Meanwhile at the Xu Da's chambers Mei sits awaiting her husband, who is now drinking in the jolly merry main hall. As every guests raise a toast to the newly wed groom, obliged groom has to drink as well. Finally when he had made rounds with his guests. Xu Da makes way to bridal chambers. Mei, with her hand fan held high covering her face, patiently waiting for her husband in a very well-lit room, decorated with everything red and nuptial wine set on the table. Enters Xu Da, with light stepping. Mei tenses as she is nervous, she could hear her heart pound. Xu Da balances himself and sits beside his bride on the bed. He places his hands on her shoulders and turns his bride towards him, facing him. And holds her hand as he lowers her hand fan. This is the first look they share of each other. Xu Da's eyes were half open, he was drunk but not as much as his senses will be impaired. He gave Mei a slight simile and Mei was already bound to him.
Xu Da : "You are Mei?
Mei : "Yes."
Xu Da : "Hmm."
He gets up and sees around the room as if searching for something in particular.
Xu Da : "Where is the mountain craved boxes?"
Mei : "I'm not sure what your asking."
Xu Da : "Hmm." He thought, it must be the other one's dowry.
He takes the wine jar and two glasses, in his hand. Give one to Mei and pours wine and fills his own cup. They link arms in a lovers shot and drink the nuptial wine. He sets the glasses and the wine jar aside. He places his head over his hand and gives Mei a slight half drunk smile. A cunning fox, who knows how to use his charms to incite others. Mei was a sheep blindly following a wolf wearing the sheep skin. She did not suspect that one day he will devour her in cold blood.
Meanwhile in the General's room. Fu Lin aids Wei in removing her wedding attire and her jewellery. Fei brought a bowl of hot water and placed it outside of the room. Fu Lin fetched it from outside and brought it in, placed it on the pedestal. Drenched a wash cloth in it to wipe Wei's face. Wei took over the cloth from Lin's hand and wiped her face herself, while Lin detangled Wei's hair prepping for sleep.
Madame Wei : "Fu Lin you know how to make sword tassel?"
Fu Lin : "I know to make the longevity knot tassel."
Madame Wei : "Help me make one for the General."
Fu Lin : "Your giving him one?"
Madame Wei : "Yes I'll be sending a letter tomorrow introducing myself and the tassel as as a gift."
Fu Lin : "Alright Madame."
Madame Wei : "Thank you Fu Lin."
The night at of the wedding finally ends. Servants putting things back to their storage, cleaning, arranging the house go back to its previous manner. Every member of the Xu family retiring for the day, tired from such an eventful day. Tomorrow morning, another ceremony, for the newly wedded bride's await.
