Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Luke checked the event schedule on the Internet and found out that the group stage would last for three rounds, coinciding with his final exam week. He thought that if Gastly loses, he can focus on reviewing for the exams. However, to his surprise, Gastly actually won in the group stage!

Now that Gastly has advanced, Luke is considering whether he should be present for the next round to ensure Gastly's safety and to surrender if the opponent is too strong. He is not particularly interested in becoming the Champion, but his main goal is to ensure that Gastly doesn't have any regrets.

Luke decided to meet with Twain, who was actively participating in the competition, at Starbucks near the campus.

Summer is hot.

You can see young and beautiful girls everywhere, as well as Wild Pokémon active in the city. People and Pokémon coexist in harmony, and the life in Lyme City in "Pikachu Detective" has actually appeared in front of our eyes. Look at the Poké Ball hanging on your thigh, how white!

"Welcome!"

Luke ordered a medium latte but was presented with a big and extra big cup to choose from. After some confusion, he finally got the right size.

Twain was a little excited: "Brother Luke, Gastly really won!"

Luke said with a stomachache: "I know."

"Mankey won a place in the county competition!"

"But when it met Gastly's Substitute, it was all in vain!" Twain said with emotion.

"Brother Luke, awesome, I didn't expect you to have such a hand!"

Luke silently drank his coffee, not revealing that it was actually Gastly's hard work in training all night that led to the victory. With a dry cough, Luke asked Twain about the event schedule.

"Are you going to play off the court?" Twain's eyes widened.

Luke nodded: "Try to get a good place."

Luke's best expectation is the top sixteen. So you can catch up with the review week at the end of the term.

Twain rubbed his hands: "This is the first round of the group stage. You can advance to the next two rounds."

"If you have a good luck, you can get a bye, and can go straight to Top 16."

"When are you playing?" Luke asked.

Twain said ill-humoredly: "I just lost this morning!"

"pu ."

"…What are you laughing at?"

"The coffee is too hot."

Luke coughed vigorously: "What's so cruel about the preliminaries? Type Advantage?"

"Yes." Twain nodded.

"Fang Shu, the top seed, is a freshman from Z-University's Battle Department. He was selected into the school team as a freshman!"

"Awesome, you can enter the school team as a freshman !"

"And Lu You from Magic City University of Communications, even the Electric Type Gym Leader praises his Magneton!"

"Fuck, this lineup is also very powerful."

"Angela Shen of our school, Fairy Type Aristocratic Family, is the out-and-out Goddess of Pokémon Academy!"

"Wonderful!" Luke exclaimed with his palm. .

"Brother Luke."

Twain's look is a bit complicated, "Opponent is so strong, why don't I feel that you don't have a slightest sense of crisis…"

Luke turned his head, "Don't you see that I am shaking."

"You are clearly laughing, okay!"

Luke gave a light cough.

Playing against a powerful opponent will not only train Gastly, even if you lose, you will not leave any regrets. Luke can continue to concentrate on his studies and career.

This is simply one move, two gains!

What Fairy Type Aristocratic Family, it sounds awesome. What else is the "Trainer appreciated by Gym Leader", "The great guy who entered the school team in freshman year".

With these big guys, you won't be able to win again, right?

Although Will-O-Wisp restrains Magneton, Poison Type restrains Fairy Type. But after all, the strength gap lies here. Even if you lose to these big bosses, it is completely reasonable!

"Gastly." Luke releases Gastly from Poké Ball.

"jie jie~?"

"Let's cheer for the next round and try not to leave any regrets!"

"jie jie~ ~! (✪ω ✪)"

In the Johto Region, Mt. Silver is shrouded in thick white mist. Besides its natural hot springs and rare plants, the mountain range has also become a training ground for powerful Wild Pokémon, attracting trainers blessed by heaven.

In the midst of the fog, a formidable Charizard breaks through the mist, carrying a black-haired youth in a red vest. The youth lowers the brim of his hat, showing a determined expression. On top of Mt. Silver, Red pats Charizard and the imposing Pokémon takes off into the white mist.

Leafage rustles as a middle-aged man dressed in Ninja attire, with a mask covering his face, hangs upside down from a treetop. "Your observation skills are still sharp," he says.

Red responds, "Well, I have been targeted for sneak attacks multiple times in Mt. Silver."

The middle-aged man is none other than one of the Johto Region's Elite Four, Poison Type Elite Koga.

Koga jumps down and gets straight to the point, "I need a favor from you."

Red is surprised, "Even you are asking for favors now?"

After a long silence, Koga slowly reveals, "A few days ago, I made a new breakthrough in the Poison Type field."

Red asks, "What is it?"

Koga points to Red's feet, and suddenly a bunch of green lights start seeping around his ankles. Countless Minimized Muks surround him, each the size of an ant, but together they form a venomous group.

Red's Venusaur stands by his side, ready for whatever comes next.

In a split second, Red released Venusaur from its Poké Ball and jumped onto its back, commanding it to use its vines. Two bunches of flashing vines shot out, restraining Koga's movements with a snap. The entire process, from releasing Venusaur to immobilizing Koga, took less than three seconds.

Koga, with his hands raised, said, "I don't have any malice. I just wanted to test if Champion is utilizing any new tactics with Foresight. And now, it seems to have worked well."

Red responded coldly, "This is what you call a new tactic?"

Koga nodded and explained, "Yes, I think if hundreds of thousands of Muk were ambushed in advance, even the Elite Four would have a hard time escaping."

As Red glanced around at the group of Minimized Muks slowly retreating, he couldn't help but feel a shiver down his spine.

"This is all thanks to my Trainer named Luke... if I remember the name correctly," Koga muttered, "His Minimize tactics are really cunning!"

"I know you know him, and my daughter watches his live broadcast every day, claiming Red to be a big fan of Luke..."

"But she can't stay at home forever! My daughter is old enough to get married!" Koga suddenly changed the topic.

He seemed a little emotional and wiped the corners of his eyes.

Red coughed awkwardly, urging Koga to return to the topic at hand.

"In short..." Koga lightly cleared his throat, "I want to ask you for a favor."

"How can you invite people like this? It's work!" Red protested.

Koga removed his mask, revealing a hearty smile, "Or... maybe I can introduce my daughter to you?"

Red sighed, knowing that this was Koga's real purpose all along. He asked, "What do you want me to do?"

"I know Luke recently acquired a Gastly... Although it may sound like boasting, my experience with the move 'Toxic' is unmatched in my life," Koga said. He then threw a scroll at Red, and Venusaur skillfully caught it with a vine.

"I hope you can deliver this to him." Koga bowed seriously to Red, "I would be very grateful!"
