"So, the principal called your parents. What are you going to do now?" Naomi asked me as we stepped out of the kitchen, to the backyard. We were right beside her bike now.
I shrugged at her question, not even knowing what to say.
What was I say when I just found out that my parents aren't even my parents?
Well, I have always suspected that Peter wasn't really my father but hearing him say it clearly and angrily grated on my nerves for some reason and dampened my hopes at the same time.
He really wants to send me away? But to where? Even if he wasn't my father, couldn't be he more considerate about me? Why must he be so callous? I wondered, shaking my head furtively while leaning on Naomi's bike.
She must have been shocked by the news too because she still had the dazed look on her face despite having been the first one to have spoken out aloud after the revelation we had just heard.
After my mother's declaration, Peter had gone quiet and I had signaled Noami that we had to leave the house now to avoid being caught. I didn't want to find out what he would do if he caught us eavesdropping.
Perhaps reinforce his lame views about me?
But noting his reaction after mother's statement, I knew he wouldn't chase me away from the house even though his hatred for me would triple.
And what was this about the king asking for their presence? Was this because of what had happened today at the cafeteria? What was on the king's mind? Apologies to my parents that I had been bullied by his sons or warn them to warn me to stay the hell away from their sons?
Not that I hadn't tried though. I tried everyday with all my might and strength, yet they still manage to get to me. Till date, I still don't get their hatred.
Well, whatever the king had in stock for me and my family, I would know by the end of today, no need to bother myself with what if's. I'm tired of thinking.
"Hey…" Noami called out to me, tapping me on the arm.
"Yeah.." I replied. "I'm sorry for what you got to hear in here. You should be in my room eating cookies but here you are listening to a bad gist. I'm a bad host, and I'm sorry about that. I'll treat you better next time." I promised after apologizing, subtly telling her that she could go, and that I would find my way around the situation. I will just have to hide out around the yard till they leave for the meeting with the Lycan king.
"Eish, don't bother about that. What about you coming over to my house? You can stay there for a while till evening." Naomi suggested, and I balked, shocked by her suggestion.
"What do you mean come to your house? What about school? Aren't you going back?" I asked her, my eyes wide as saucers.
"I'm choosing to forget about school today. Seems I will be using the guilt trip card then. C'mon let's go. I will love to show you my house." She stated, stretching forth the helmet to me again. "Ready for another ride?" She asked rhetorically, winking at me as she mounted the bike, ready to zoom off.
"But…what if your brother comes back?" I asked her, even as my leg flung over the bike, and my hands wrapped around her tiny waist.
"Don't worry about that sicko. He wouldn't do anything since my parents would be around." She answered, and I nodded slowly, digesting the statement.
Does it mean that her parents would be okay with me lounging around in their house? A wolfless girl? The pariah of the pack?
"Will your parents be okay with me in the house?" I asked her, echoing my thoughts, needing to put this thought behind me before it ruined matters.
"Of course. Don't worry you will see when we get here." She said, bursting in excitement and I slowly nodded again, hoping that it was true. I don't think I can bear outright rejection from another parent today. One was enough.

"Your house is beautiful.." I muttered in awe, as my eyes scanned the entirety of Noami's house and compound.
She even had a swimming pool, not large, but still present.
Her parents must be earning a lot. I thought, letting my eyes wander to the swing that hung from a huge tall tree. I could play on that whilst thinking on my problems and sorrows.
"C'mon let's go inside. I'm sure my parents are in the sitting room. I think they have a day off." She muttered, literally dragging me, gently though, across the compound to the front porch which led to the sitting room.
"Good afternoon Dad, mom…" she greeted as we stepped into the house.
Her parents stopped discussing in hush tones and looked at us immediately, their eyes especially focusing on me.
I shuddered, wondering if they had also heard the news about the cafeteria.
I greeted them still, letting out a sigh of relief when they returned my greeting and gestured at us to sit down on the sofas.
Are we going to have a meeting, or do they do this for every one of her friends that comes here? Come to think of it, I have never seen Noami with a friend.
"Why are you two not in school?" That was Noami's father. The interrogation has begun.
