"Who did this?" Ms. Karen asked, immediately Prof. Caden walked out of the classroom in anger.
After she had successfully pulled him out of the chair, he had muttered a gruffy thank you to her, before turning around to face the class, anger simmering and clouding his face.
He had looked like he wanted to blurt something out, but on a second thought, he had stomped out of the classroom.
It had made me wonder if this was the time he would resign. If he did, he wouldn't really be missed, well except for the math geniuses and nerds in our class.
No one answered Ms Karen's question. They all looked at her like she was blurting out an impossible mathematical task.
"Didn't you all hear what I had just asked? Who did this?" She inquired hotly. But there was still no answer, causing her to sigh in anger.
"Who owns this seat?" She queried, causing my heart to fall into my stomach, and my heartbeat to escalate more than usual. What was she planning to do now?
It was true that Ms Karen was impartial; it was one of the reasons why I had taken her classes. But she was also an important member of the school's board, probably because her father was our pack's healer, and she knew of my condition.
Would she melt out a significant punishment to me because I had allowed the professor to sit on my seat knowing that the seat had been plastered with glue? Oh God. I muttered, wincing unconsciously when her younger sister, Casey, pointed at me.
Ms. Karen turned around then, her eyes unreadable and blank as she scanned me with her eyes. It made me wonder if she could see my innermost thoughts with her eyes.
"You are the owner of this desk?" She queried, and I nodded sharply, without hesitation. "And you knew that the chair had been plastered with glue?"
"Yes," I replied, nodding again. "But I had also told him that piece of information, saying that I wouldn't be able to sit on the seat because of that. He had been trying to test the theory. That's why he had sat on the chair. He didn' believe me." I added quickly, before she could mutter any other word, not wanting to fall into the hands of the authorities. I had enough problems to deal with. I wouldn't want to add assaulting a teacher to it.
"Hmmm." Karen sighed, before she looked away from me to the class. "So, who did this?" She asked, placing her hands on her waist. "Who took it upon themselves to bully a fellow classmate, a member of our pack?" She interrogated, her eyes scanning the faces of my classmates, before returning to me, especially since there was no reply, except a scoff that had come from the direction of Claire and her minions when Ms Karen had talked about me being a member of the pack.
"Maya, did you know who did this?" she asked me, but I shook my head. "No ma. I don't." I answered, a bit depressed when I saw disappointment flash across her eyes.
It wasn't my intention to insult her intelligence, it was just that the price I would pay for mouthing my tormentors off would be worse than I could ever imagine.
"Well, since no one is going to talk..I am going to report this to our king in the meeting today. I think he would like to know that class 11 is misbehaving and had managed to abuse one of the teachers, and bully a member of the pack." She stated, and suddenly there was a crack in the silence that had penetrated the class.
But of course no one wanted to be on the radar of the king. No one could predict his punishments. Who knows if he would ask them to be whipped? I wondered, not really concerned since Ms Karen had placed me among the victims of the incident.
Actually, I was happy about the turn of events, and I knew that someone would expose the deeds of Claire and her minions today. I was sure that she was the one that had done this.
"Cass, do you know who had done this?" Ms Karen asked her younger sister, another bully who competes against Claire in everything. They each had their own minions, and I was sure that she would take advantage of this opportunity to wreck another blow on Claire. Everyone knew it, even Claire herself.
"It was Claire, of course." Cassey replied, a smug smile on her face as she watched anger resonate all over Claire's face.
"That's a lie!' Claire screamed. "She is just saying that to get back at me." She said, standing up from her seat, her arms folded across her chest.
Ms Karen looked between her sister and Claire, and sighed. Of course, she knew of their problems. And so, turning away from them, she asked the other members of the class. "Anyone who can tell me who has really done this, or else you all risk being reported to the king." She mentioned, and for a moment there was a silence, and just when she was about to turn around and leave the class, Ava, a daughter to one of our king's advisors, raised up her hand and stood up thereafter, getting the attention of everyone.
She was a neutral figure, not supporting either Claire or Cassey. She was a genius too. I wouldn't call her a nerd since her fashion sense is always top notch. She was just really smart. She wasn't a bully, but she doesn't talk to me either. She was just…there;aloof most times to the happenings in the class.
I was surprised she had even stood up to talk. Well, that was what the mention of the king had caused. Besides, her father might not deal kindly with her if he perhaps heard what had happened in class, and knowing that she hadn't said anything.
"Yes, Ava. You want to say something?" Ms Karen asked, and Ava nodded. "Go on then. What is the matter? Who had done this?" Ms Karen asked.
Ava swallowed visibly, before a determined glint caressed her eyes the next second. "It was Claire and her minions. They had put the glue on Maya's seat."
