Vi carefully added the finishing touches to the last parfait, a satisfied smile softening her face. "There, all done." She set it aside with a proud nod.
"Looks good," Mama remarked, her tone warm as she admired Vi's work.
Kari furrowed her brow thoughtfully. "Now that we've got food ready for my grandson, do you think it's time to wake him?"
Betty tilted her head.
Vi wiped her hands on a towel and nodded. "Probably a good idea. The food's still warm, and he'll need something in his stomach." She glanced at the clock on the wall and sighed. "Hard to believe it's already afternoon. Time feels slower when someone's not well."
Kari gave a quick nod and quietly left the room.
"I just hope he has enough strength to get out of bed," Mama murmured, concern flickering in her voice.
