As an orphan, she lived in an orphanage. She worked and had a routine after growing up. She unexpectedly returned to this era and had three children. Her heart was full of complex emotions she couldn't explain.
"I want my third child to inherit my last name. Fan Le, the happiness and peace of the world, is her name." Fan Xi lowered her head thoughtfully and narrowed her eyes.
Ye Fan's eyes widened when he saw how she looked at him. "Then we call the first child Ye Ping and the second Ye An. Ping An translates to peace and joy. This has a fantastic significance."
Ye Fan said it casually, but Fan Xi suddenly raised her head.
Fan Xi recalls the orphanage's director as a kind and caring woman. The kids referred to her as "mom." Even though she couldn't possibly care for every child, Mom gave her all to the orphanage.
However, the orphanage's leader died of illness when Fan Xi was ten. Her final wish was that all the kids at the orphanage would be at peace and joy.
Therefore, "Peace and Joy" became Fan Xi's birthday wish every year.
But how did Ye Fan know?
Fan Xi thought it was a coincidence. She just wanted her child to be "Peace and Joy". Ye Fan and she was from different eras.
"Alright."
Fan Xi experienced bitterness alongside her joy.
Jiang Hong served Fan Xi greasy, tasteless soup at dinner. "It has been almost a month. Have you not milked yet? Powdered milk costs a hundred. Unlike you, I care about my grandsons! Boost your milk supply with soup. Keep my grandson fed!"
Jiang Hong stared at Fan Xi. She took pork from the soup and looked at Ye Fan. "Ye Fan, please. Thanks for your efforts. Fuel up with meat."
"Mom, let Fan Xi eat more. She is working harder than me to care for the babies," Ye Fan said. He handed Fan Xi the ribs in his bowl and looked at her.
Fan Xi glanced at the spared ribs and immediately lost her appetite.
Fan Xi had tasted what it was like to eat disgusting food for nearly a month. Every dish on the table in front of her was one of them.
Only ribs were in pork rib soup. A thick layer of grease covered the meat, which looked bland and tasteless. She couldn't imagine how good pork rib soup without salt tasted, but looking at it made her queasy.
There was no lean meat in the braised pork. It was all so fatty that it was dripped with oil. How could anyone eat it? The only thing that she could barely swallow was probably the vegetables.
Fan Xi quickly put the ribs in Jiang Hong's bowl after seeing her hateful stare. "The food is healthier for you, Mom. You regularly cook for us and work hard."
She actually wanted to say, "You did a good job, but please don't do it again."
Jiang Hong's expression became a little better.
Ye Fan and Fan Xi sat across from one another. They exchanged glances back and forth a million times. They passed around a pork rib, but nobody bit into it.
The light bulb went on for Fan Xi. Ye Fan obviously knew Jiang Hong's food was terrible because he refused to eat it.
The thought of this made Fan Xi glare at Ye Fan. Was he trying to trick her on purpose?
Fan Xi grabbed her bowl and started eating as Ye Fan was about to plate the ribs. She stated, "Mom is right. It is best if I drink more soup. Ye Fan has the ribs. You need to eat more meat to work."
The ribs were cold, and no one ate them, so Jiang Hong was about to get angry. Fan Xi's words instantly brightened her face. She served Fan Xi several bowls of soup. "Yes, drink more. Breastmilk is healthier than powdered milk, so my grandson is healthier."
Despite feeling sick, Fan Xi chugged it down. Jiang Hong held the sink while she washed the dishes and threw up.
Ye Fan laughed as he rubbed her back, saying, "If you cannot drink it, don't force yourself. Do you allow yourself to endure this?"
Fan Xi's face turned red from vomiting. She turned and glared at Ye Fan in the mirror. Don't you know her cooking was bad? That's why you hurt me? It's like I never ate."
Fan Xi was about to spit out the stomach acid when the greasy taste returned through her smashed mouth.
