Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 Choose Vegetables_1

Although Aria said that she could wash the dishes herself, Mary still refused.

Regardless of whether Aria knew how to wash or not, even if she knew, Mary had no reason to let a child wash the dishes. Moreover, she invited Aria over to play, not to do housework.

So, Aria had no choice but to go back to the room with Julia.

The weather had been gloomy today, which was very suitable for sleeping, so Aria and Julia lay on the bed and prepared to take an afternoon nap together.

Steven didn't have much fun alone. Since the two girls were asleep, he lay on the bed with a book in his hand.

He loved reading...

Seeing Steven's action, Aria couldn't help but sigh in her heart. She had seen Steven hugging a book several times. He was only five years old.

Truly amazing.

Aria could not help but purse her lips.

"Aria, what's wrong?" Julia looked up at Aria.

Aria quickly shook her head to show that she was fine, then patted Julia's back. "Have a good sleep."

"Okay."

Julia nodded and closed her eyes.

Aria looked at Julia's arm that was holding hers, curled the corner of her mouth, and then closed her eyes.

She did not sleep well last night because she was thinking about her younger brother's illness. She needed to catch up on her sleep now...

At this moment, in another room, Mary and George were discussing an important matter.

"I think Aria is indeed a good girl." George had never interacted with Aria before. After all, it was not easy for an adult and a child to have any interactions. Therefore, he took a closer look this time. She was a good child.

Aria's appearance was not as delicate as everyone would appreciate in 20 years. Her face was a little round, but her eyes were very bright. It was the kind of appearance that made others like her.

Therefore, George also liked Aria and felt that Mary's idea was quite good.

Mary smiled happily when she heard George's words. "See, I told you she is good. So, what do you think about arranging a child betrothal between her and Steven?"

"That's great. I don't have any objections." George said, "You know her birth time, right? Write them down for me later and let me match it with Steven's."

There were still quite a few people in Lewis Village who believed in fortune-telling, especially those who had made money. There were many taboos in these things, not to mention that the fortune-teller had given Steven such a fate, so they would rather believe it than not. Whether it was George or Mary, they all wanted to resolve their son's bad luck.

"It's already written." Mary covered her mouth and smiled. Then, she took a piece of paper from the drawer next to the bedside table. On it was Aria's birth time that she had written. She had known it from Wendy, so there was no problem.

George kept the paper in his pocket.

"If you don't have anything to do, you can go later," Mary said.

George couldn't help but shake his head with a smile. "Why are you in such a hurry?"

Mary smiled and said nothing.

Since Mary was so anxious, George felt that it was better to match the birth time as soon as possible. After tidying up his clothes, he set off.

Aria woke up after about an hour, but Julia was still asleep beside her. Steven, who was on the other side of the bed, had his back to them and was sleeping soundly.

Aria carefully got off the bed, trying not to make a sound. Then she came out of the room and went to the bathroom in the house.

The happiest thing for Aria was that she could go to the advanced bathroom there.

Ever since she returned to her childhood, the fact that there's no advanced bathroom made her the most depressed. This was because it was common in the countryside to have a mud toilet built in the yard. Mary's house wasn't that kind of flush toilet, just an ordinary squatting toilet, but even so, it was much better than the mud toilet.

"Aria, you're awake. Why didn't you sleep a little longer?"

Mary came out of the room and saw Aria who had just closed the bathroom door.

Aria saw Mary and smiled, "I don't want to sleep anymore after I wake up. Are you going to do something? Aunt Mary."

"I'm going to pick some vegetables to make the sandwiches tonight." Mary said, "Do you like to eat vegetable sandwiches?"

Aria nodded, "Then I can help you, Aunt Mary."

"Okay." Mary smiled and nodded.

Mary agreed but she didn't think that Aria could do anything. It was only when Aria sat next to her that she realized that Aria really knew how to choose vegetables. She threw away the yellowed leaves and then put the remaining leaves together.

"You are so amazing!" Mary was really surprised.

Aria's face was a little red. A nearly 30-year-old soul in a five-year-old body to do these things, and then being praised by others, she felt guilty.

"Mom."

A clear voice came from the side, but it was a little hoarse.

"Steven is awake too. Come over quickly." Mary saw her son and waved at him.

Steven nodded and walked in front of Mary. Then he sat on the small stool next to Aria.

"Steven, Aria is good at choosing vegetables. Do you want to try too?" Mary pointed at the vegetables in the basket and asked with a smile.

Mary was just asking casually. She knew how much her son loved cleanliness. Steven usually wouldn't touch vegetables that were stained with mud.

However, this time, it was unexpected.

Steven turned his head to look at the girl who was focused on choosing vegetables. He pursed his lips and thought for a moment. Then, he reached out and picked up two vegetables, imitating Aria.

This surprised Mary.

However, she also noticed that although her son was choosing vegetables, he seemed to be involuntarily looking at Aria.

It seemed that her son had a good impression of Aria.

Mary thought of the idea of betrothing them and the smile on her face widened.

This was something worth celebrating.

Now, all she had to do was wait for the results...
