After dawn, Jiang Yi finally fell asleep.
She had a dream in which she was lying in a wet bed, surrounded by the fishy smell of aquatic plants.
A sudden ringtone from her cell phone woke Jiang Yi from her dream.
With her heart still pounding, she looked at the caller ID for a good while before answering the call.
"Jiang Yi, where are you? At school?"
It was He Gu's voice on the phone.
Jiang Yi rubbed her eyes and replied, "No, I'm at Grandfather's place."
"That's perfect, I'm nearby," he said, "I'll come to pick you up in half an hour."
Before Jiang Yi could ask anything else, He Gu had already hung up the phone.
Jiang Yi's sleepiness vanished, so she sat up in bed.
Auntie Cui, hearing the movement, knocked on the door and asked, "Xiao Yi, are you up?"
"Oh, I'm getting up now."
Jiang Yi set her phone aside, got up, and opened the door.
Seeing Jiang Yi's exhausted face, Auntie Cui thought she was still sick and reached out to touch her forehead.
