My group walked in through the heavy oak door. We were greeted with cheers. The inside of the guild was huge. It appeared that there were no private rooms on the main floor other than a bathroom stationed at the back of the room. To the left was the traditional bar counter and sets of tables filled with adventurers from all races. Even a few elves were mixed in the group. To the left were the counters for the guild itself along with receptionists. The receptionists were wearing white outfits with a sword and shield emblem at the top right corner. They each wore nametags as well. Our group approached the closest of the counters and introduced ourselves to the dwarven employee that stood there.
"Hello, my name is Lilly. Uh, our group would like to register to become adventurers."
"Hello Lilly. My name is Regnara. I'll be happy to help you with registering. Do you have ID's of any kind?"
"Uh, no we don't. We all lost our ID and will have to get a new one." The beastkin had all lost their ID's when Monte had captured them. We decided that getting new ones made together would be less suspicious for me. It would also allow me to officially register Bliss as my familiar.
"Very well. Please complete this paperwork. I will need it completed for each of you. To register your familiar, just fill in the box on the second page. If any of you need help in writing, please let me know and I will be happy to assist you."
Literacy rates were actually quite good in Vando. The four nations had followed an educational system that taught their young from ages 4 to 12. All children have been required to attend since the system was established several centuries ago. If I were to wager a guess, I would give credit to one of the heroes for pushing such a system. All 5 of us completed our application forms and provided them to Regnara. For city of birth, I picked a human city that the beastkin had recommended I use, "Jasper City". If anyone asked me about Jasper, I would have no idea what I could share so I decided I would need to learn more about my new "city of birth". It was much better than writing "I just showed up in a shack in the middle of the woods".
"Very good, I have received your application. I will also process Bliss as Airey's familiar. Each application will cost one silver coin each."
I produced 5 silver coins and thanked Regnara for her speedy work. It took a few minutes before we each were handed temporary residence documents as well as copper plates with the letter F painted on them. These would prove to be our adventurer's badges. It would be copper from ranks F to E, silver from D to C, gold from B to A, and platinum for S rank. Ranks were raised by a combination of a certain number of achievements, completed jobs, and proficiency. Higher ratings from customers would tend to get promotions more quickly. The job board to the left of all the counters had different sections for different ranks. We were allowed to take a job one rank higher than our own. This rule always applied except for S-rank threats. Only an S-rank can accept an S-rank job. While Regnara explained these rules, we also had her register our party of 5 adventurers. Lilly insisted that I be designated as the party leader despite my lack of worldly knowledge. Either way, I was more confident with the support of my friends.
We walked over to the job board and looked at both F-Rank and E-Rank jobs. Some were asking for materials or ingredients that were needed. Most of the names of things were not familiar to me and I chose to ask Lilly about a few. Lilly seemed to be the social representative of the group. She loved to express herself. Every line or two, she would utter a simple "uh" in her expressions. I was wondering if this was a feature of rabbitkin or if it was a quirk of Lilly alone. Either way, it was a cute scene to see her ears twitch and nose wrinkle at the same time.
Aside from ingredients hunting, there were some small rodent or monster hunting in the tasks as well. As a group, we decided to take on two jobs at the same time. One was the task of finding at least 15 green roots or gold clovers. Apparently, this was a common demand for making healing potions. Thanks to my Botany and Herbalism Lv. 3, I fully expected to have no issues in locating these plants in the forest. Additionally, I still had plenty of gold clovers in my Storage Vision. We decided to try to hold onto those in case we needed it ourselves. The second job we accepted was catching one wild boar. Apparently, it was much smaller than the one that I encountered over a week ago. The boar was damaging property on the outskirts of the city. The resident on that property was elderly and unable to chase down the boar himself. This job was to the west of the city, so we headed to the western gate. While we walked to the west, I decided to review my full status.
