"What a rude little guy."
Ivan ignored Tony, turned to Nick Fury, and said, "This willful old steel boy is your trump card? That disappointing. Believe it or not, I only need a few words to turn him to my side."
Before Nick Fury could respond, Tony retorted, "Rebel? That's a joke. Are you sure you have a brain? You said something so brainless! Who am I? I'm Tony Stark, the famous Iron Man. Can you turn me against him? Dream on."
"Don't be so sure. In my eyes, you're just a brat. In reality, I'm your elder. My son knows you quite well."
"Your son?" Iron Man was stunned momentarily, then continued arrogantly, "Tell me, who is your son? If you know me well, maybe I'll show some mercy."
"My son's name is Kyle Shaw. He should be the second-largest shareholder of Stark Industries."
"Hahaha!"
As soon as Ivan finished speaking, Tony laughed as if he had heard the most incredible thing in the world.
You must know that Ivan looks like he is in his twenties, but Kyle, although appearing about thirty, is nearly fifty. That could be explained by good maintenance, but Kyle's father should be at least seventy years old. How could he look like a twenty-year-old youth?
"Jarvis, contact Kyle immediately and tell him the good news. I helped him find his father. I wonder if he'll be furious when he hears what happened here. This is enough to make me laugh for a year."
The call was quickly connected, and Tony seemed to have turned up the volume to mock Ivan. Soon, Kyle's slightly exasperated voice came from the other end.
"Tony, I finally caught a beauty, and now is a critical moment. If you don't give me a valid reason, I'll beat you up when I return."
"Kyle, I don't think your beauty is as important as what's happening here. There's a guy who claims to be your father, who is very arrogant. How do you think about it? Do you feel like rushing over to beat him immediately? Should I keep him here for you?"
He thought that after Kyle heard this, he would rush over to deal with the man pretending to be his father. However, Kyle's silence made him feel something was wrong, and things seemed out of his expectations.
After a while, Kyle's voice sounded again, "Does the man you claim to be my father look like he's only in his twenties, tall and handsome, but can make people super annoyed with his words?"
"That's right. Would you happen to know him? He's bold to pretend to be your father. Isn't he afraid of death?"
"No, he's my father, my biological father. Although he looks like he's in his twenties, he's actually in his nineties. And I want to remind you, don't anger him. Remember those tricks I did for you? He taught me those and knows even more, a thousand times more interesting than mine. As a friend, I warn you some tricks are deadly. I'm off now; the beauty is calling me. Bye!"
The call ended with a beep. Tony was in confusion, looking at Ivan, who was smiling.
He didn't expect this person to be Kyle's real father, making him his elder. He also understood the power of Kyle's tricks firsthand. Kyle's special mention of his father's tricks being a thousand times more interesting meant the person in front of him was compelling, beyond his capabilities, even with his armor.
He was shocked, and Nick Fury was equally stunned. He knew about Kyle Shaw, the second-largest shareholder of Stark Industries, but didn't expect the person in front of him to be his biological father.
This changed the plan entirely, as Ivan's high status would cause a backlash if arrested. Arresting such a prominent person would likely provoke other celebrities, and even S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn't handle the suppression from numerous high-ranking people on Earth.
"Cough!" Tony coughed twice in embarrassment.
"Uncle Shaw, You look so young. How did you do it? Speaking of which, Kyle is almost fifty years old, but he looks only thirty. Is this a family inheritance?"
"You could say that. Many people have peculiar abilities, and we are one of them."
Tony looked at Nick Fury, feeling a bit awkward. After learning that his father was the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., he naturally had some unique feelings for the organization. He's willing to help, but facing his good friend's father is another matter.
Kyle has helped him several times, even saving his life. Tony can't betray him, and even if he wanted to help, he probably wouldn't be able to.
"Nick, I'm sorry, but I can't help you with this. You'll have to solve it yourself."
Nick Fury knew he might lose this time but didn't leave empty-handed. I think understanding the father-son relationship between Ivan and Kyle might be helpful later.
Though he felt defeated, Nick Fury didn't show it. He said stubbornly, "I didn't expect you to have this kind of identity, but you said you could turn Tony against me. Right now, he's just not helping either side, which isn't convincing."
Ivan tilted his head and thought for a moment. "True, but I can add more force to turn him around completely."
"Tony, I think you already know about your father being the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., but did this bald head tell you that your father was killed in 1991 and it was disguised as a car accident?"
"What!" Tony exclaimed, his eyes fixed on Ivan, full of murderous intent. Veins bulged on his head as he absorbed the shocking news.
Tony turned to Nick Fury, his voice tight with rage.
"Is what he said true?"
Nick Fury was also shocked. He didn't know this.
"Don't listen to his nonsense. Your father died in a car accident. I..."
Ivan interrupted, "As the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., can you think before you speak? Would one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D. die in a car accident? Of course not. Some people staged the scene, and others downplayed it. Plus, you weren't the director then, so you didn't know normally."
"Tell me the truth!"
Tony demanded, his voice trembling with fury.
"I can tell you, but you must understand that everything comes with a price."
"Name it. I'll pay any price."
"Tony, don't rush. We need to verify if this is true. Don't be deceived," Nick Fury urged, desperate.
"Since I dare to say it, there is natural evidence. Little Tony, tell me your decision."
"Tony, calm down. Don't let yourself..."
"Enough! I don't need your concern." Stark's face hardened as he turned to Ivan.
"What price do I have to pay?"
"In the future, help me with something that won't harm or violate your morals."
"Is it that simple?"
"Yes, it's that simple."
"Okay, I agree!"
Nick Fury sighed helplessly. The situation had already taken a turn he couldn't control, and all he could do was sit back and watch. He was puzzled by the death of Howard Stark and felt that S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't as much under his control as he had thought. It was as if he was losing grip on everything, leading to unsettling suspicions.
Ivan ignored Nick Fury's thoughts, took off his watch, placed it on the table, and pressed a button.
"Tony, you have Jarvis, so you should understand that while computers have made data storage convenient, they are the least secure storage method for some people. A hacker can get anything they want from the network, like this."
Ivan's watch projected several light beams, forming a three-dimensional image of a dimly lit road.
"I recognize that road!"
"Don't talk, just watch."
As Tony Stark looked on in confusion, a car sped down the road and crashed into a roadside pillar. Howard's heavy car pulled up. He could have gotten out to ask for help, but then a man on a motorcycle with a metal arm appeared. Howard realized this wasn't a car accident but an assassination.
Shockingly, Howard Stark recognized the man with the metal arm and called him Barnes. Tony watched in horror as his father was beaten to death, his mother strangled, and the scene disguised as a car accident. Then, someone took something from the car's trunk.
"Who is he? My father knew him. Why did he kill my parents?"
"Bucky, James Buchanan Barnes. Captain America's battle mate and best friend. He was presumed dead after falling off a cliff during a raid on a Hydra base. But he survived, lost an arm, and was found by Hydra. They injected him with super serum, gave him a metal arm, and brainwashed him into becoming Hydra's super killer, the Winter Soldier. He's usually kept in stasis, only awakened for missions. After each mission, they erase his memories with electric shocks and refreeze him. He's like a ghost, appearing sporadically with no way to track him."
"Hydra!" Nick Fury's face turned pale.
"Wasn't Hydra destroyed?"
"There's a saying about Hydra: 'Cut off one head, two more grow.' How can you be sure they were destroyed? They could have just hidden."
"What about you? How do you know all this secret information? Are you also Hydra?"
Nick Fury's question was casual, but Ivan didn't deny it.
"You're not wrong. I was with Hydra. If you look up records from World War II, you'll find my name. I researched physics with Dr. Zola and developed the superhuman serum with Dr. Erskine. I was Germany's chief scientist, even above Zola and Erskine."
"Various countries issued arrest warrants for me, wanting me to work for them. But I fell out with Hydra. To escape, I erased my traces. There's no information about me on the internet. I've even cursed my name so that anyone who hears it will subconsciously ignore it."
Fury and Stark were stunned by the revelation, processing the magnitude of what Ivan had just confessed. This unexpected turn left them grappling with new, unsettling realities about their past and the present.
