Neil was surprised to see the dragon allowing him to ride him but he had no time to hesitate. He quickly grabbed Cora and put her in the sack he used to carry the ice balls and he ran to the dragon.
The moment his bottom made contact with the frozen fur of the dragon his whole body began to shiver. After grabbing ahold of the dragon's scales he felt the Woolly Howl start to flap his wings.
Not much longer a strong wind force and the frozen slick fur threatened to make him slip from the dragon's back.
He held on tight and laid his body flat against the dragon completely squishing the poor Cora that was between his stomach and the dragon.
As they flew the Woolly Howl made very violent turns and barrel rolls. Since the wind made it hard to open his eyes he couldn't see what was happening. All he could do was listen, there were several roars from behind but every now and then a new roar from in front would appear.
When he forced his eyes open upon the greeny flash of the forets he was able to spot a red smudge.
'This whole forest has been invaded by them.'
After what felt like a lifetime they finally landed on a mountain. The Wholly Howl shook him off making him fall on the ground hard.
He looked around to make sure that the dragons weren't still chasing them. Once he saw that there wasn't any more danger he let out a breath of relief and sat down on a nearby rock.
Cora, who he had forgotten about, clawed her way out of the bag and began to violently shake the chunks of mud off. She was still shaking from having been covered in Ice and mud.
After they had finally caught their breath he turned around to look at the dragon who looking at the direction they had just come from.
"Hey, big guy, we have to get out of this place. More and more Changewings are appearing and sooner or later we will all become their snacks!"
The dragon looked at him but it acted as if it hadn't heard him and looked back at the forest view.
Neil scratched his head and tensed his hands in a strangling-like motion. After a few seconds, he calmed down and went to the sack. After taking out a few mudballs he quickly through them at the rockly floor.
The runny mude made a pool on the ground which he used as a canvas and began drawing the Wolly Howl. Then he drew the heads of 10 Changewings around the Woolly Howl and had them all firing at him.
"Come here and look at this."
When the dragon ignored him he walked over to it and with muddy hands he tried to force the dragon to look his way. If he had just met it he wouldn't have dared, but after knowing each other for a month he knew that it was safe. As safe as one would be trying to force a giant beast to do something it didn't want to do.
While pointing at the drawing of the Wolly Howl he also pointed at the dragon himself, "See this is you"
Then Neil pointed at the Changewing heads and pointed at the forest. When he was sure that the dragon had seen what he was trying to convey he used his hand to smash the painted Woolly Howl.
"And now you're dead!"
The dragon growled the moment that he smashed the drawing, but Neil didn't care there was still something else he had to do to drive the point home.
He wiped the Wolly Howl and began drawing something else. While he did that the dragon began to pay close attention and his eyes showed that he was slowly realizing what was being drawn.
Neil pointed at his drawing and then at the little fox that was wrapped into a shaking red furball, "That is Cora"
As his hand came down to try to splat the fox drawing a big white tail slapped his side sending him flying. The dragon then stood between him and the drawing, growling, as if it was Cora herself.
He fought through the pain as he got up and pointed at the drawing, "That's right! All of us will die if we stay here!"
Cora who had been startled by Neil getting hit, walked over to him and huddled to his side. After patting her he walked over to the bag and grabbed another ball of mud.
This time he drew a Woolly Howl with him and Cora on top. He pointed towards the east and flapped his hands as if they were wings.
"We need to go. I know that this is your home but you're also in danger here. There's no way you can handle all those dragons alone."
The Wolly snarled and turned around to look at the forest once more.
Neil sighed and hung his arms and head in defeat, "Well whatever, if you wanna die be my guest. I'll just have to go in deeper into this damn land and hope Cora and I don't end up dragon food.
He went back to Cora and began massaging his side which was stinging. After waiting for what might have been hours the dragon emitted a low growl and turned around towards him and for the second day that day made a gesture for Neil to get on.
They went back to the cave to get food and his things and then they began to fly away from the land that he had been his home for the last couple of months. Since they were not being followed the ride wasn't as uncomfortable as it had been before.
While they were flying away the Woolly Howl continued to look down. Neil patted its head caringly, "I know it's hard to leave the place you call home, I myself haven't managed to give up on mine. I'll tell you what, when we find the people I'm looking or we can try to convince them to help us get your home back."
He knew the dragon most likely had no idea what he was saying since but he didn't care. Thanks to him he could finally resume his trip.
