Many decades ago in a time before the Filtering, in an era when A.X.A. was not yet the governing power, and when the country was not yet named Melysia, a little boy was strung along by his parents to their weekly worship service with a group known as the Cult of She.
The boy's name was Ian Sedia.
The cult worshipped a goddess named MONA, a deity that was physically embodied by the Moon, a large glowing sphere that would only appear in the night as opposed to the sun during the day. During this time and age, the Moon was already long gone and forgotten, having been previously eradicated out of existence due to extenuating circumstances.
The individuals that made up the Cult of She were the last few remaining civilians that worshipped MONA. As opposed to the religious era A.X.A. brought forth in the birth of Melysia with Menesism, the government during this time period established religions to be illegal. Ian and his parents walked a thin rope by attending these weekly services, a risk well-noticed, but that would be unknowingly returned unfathomably in the years to come in the future.
My child.
The waters Ian was baptized in whispered to him. It was an intangible voice, but he could understand it nonetheless. Little did he know that the moment he'd been submerged in those holy waters, another, foreign presence planted itself deep within his consciousness.
MONA.
There came a time when Ian became the last person alive baptized in the Cult of She, leaving him as the only individual left with a trace of the forgotten goddess in his mind. This hidden potential would awaken on its own in a moment before Ian met death. As a bullet was about to wedge itself into his head, the world froze for him, and that same voice from the holy waters spoke to him once again.
Although fate has given you death today, I will grant you evasion to continue forth, my child.
From this point onwards, Ian remained in communication with this unfamiliar voice in his mind. When he'd abandoned his comrades, the Seven Sins, it was MONA's voice that guided him to live through the Filtering while simultaneously flourishing. That was when he founded Heathen.
Those Overseers of A.X.A. were once my children. They were my original messengers to preach the word of the Talitem, the holy book I'd written to convey the message of Menesism.
"Are they not your children anymore?" Ian asked the voice.
They broke a cardinal rule in the Talitem that was meant specifically for them.
"How so?"
Before my passing, I provided them with a special material only retrievable from my realm, the God Plane. It was known as Mynerium. It could be used to construct, or used to formulate energy. That was all I permitted.
"How did they break that rule?"
Ian suddenly felt the blood in his veins warm with temperature, as if the voice defined exactly what it spoke about.
They used Mynerium to meddle with humans. You are a perfect example of the product of their rule-breaking.
"M-Me…?"
That power you harbor, as well as the capabilities of your previous friends, the Seven Sins, are a result of mixing Myenrium with human DNA. Doing so brought forth supernatural capabilities that should not exist in your realm. Power from the God Plane is not meant to be withdrawn in the Human Plane.
From the moment of that revelation, Ian sought what the voice wanted him to do. He created Heathen to convert Menesism believers into the new doctrine MONA established in his mind. His goal was to inform civilians of the truth behind A.X.A., while translating their beliefs into his own.
Then the worst-case scenario happened.
The Filtering ended, and when it did, the entire population had become imbued with Mynerium, giving birth to a superhuman society with supernatural capabilities.
Fractals.
The wide assortment of these strong and weak 'Fractals' is alarming. The potential for catastrophe is too high. This is completely against what I intended.
"What do we do, Mother?"
Mynerium is not static. It can evolve inside the right medium. The individuals with well-developed Fractals have the potential to awaken a further amplification of themselves.
Fractal Activations.
"What happens when they have that awakening?"
Their powers could bring about events only possible in the God Plane. These events could be so unorthodox that the reality of the Human Plane could possibly collapse under itself.
Ian could hear the panic in MONA's voice. He realized that A.X.A. had not only broken the rules of the Talitem, but of their reality itself.
You need to prevent this, Ian.
"How?"
Remove those with strong Fractals out of the picture. Erase the problems before they are written. Ensure the safety of your realm.
"Y-Yes, Mother…"
Then everything changed. Ian began the evolution of Heathen. A source of spreading truth had become a means of balancing the scales in Melysia from behind the curtains, like a puppeteer pulling its strings.
"I'll cleanse this cursed society A.X.A. has created."
